Summer League is upon us. The league will have the Salt Lake City SL and the California Classic hosted by Sacramento as preludes to the main event in Las Vegas. Below is the schedule and TV schedule for the games.

Got a kick out reading the thread from last years Summer League and reading your observations and analysis of the players, you guys know what you're talking about. Too bad Broadway doesn't seem to be around any longer, miss his opiniated and knowledgable posts, I hope he's back.

The 15th NBA Summer League will take place July 5-15 on the campus of the UNLV.

NEW YORK -- The matchup between New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson and New York Knicks guard-forward RJ Barrett – two of the top three picks in NBA Draft 2019 presented by State Farm – highlights the 11-day, 83-game schedule for MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2019 in Las Vegas. Williamson and the Pelicans face Barrett and the Knicks on Friday, July 5 at 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Zion, Barrett set to clash in Las Vegas

Every MGM Resorts NBA Summer League game will air live on television for the second straight year, with ESPN networks and NBA TV combining to televise a record number of games.

Williamson, the No. 1 pick in NBA Draft 2019 presented by State Farm, returns on Saturday, July 6 to face Rui Hachimura and the Washington Wizards at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN. Hachimura became the first Japanese-born player selected in the first round by an NBA team when the Wizards picked him ninth in NBA Draft 2019 presented by State Farm.

MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2019, which features all 30 NBA teams and the Chinese and Croatian National Teams, will tip off with 10 games on July 5 and continue through Monday, July 15 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The first day of action will include five games on NBA TV and a tripleheader on ESPN.

The event opens with all 32 teams playing four preliminary games each. The top eight teams are then seeded in a tournament, which culminates with a Championship Game on July 15 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Teams that do not qualify for the tournament will each play a consolation game. Every team will play at least five games and as many as seven at MGM Resorts NBA Summer League.

Last year’s event, won by the Portland Trail Blazers, set records for total attendance, combined viewership across ESPN and NBA TV, and traffic to the NBA’s social and digital platforms, in addition to matching the single-day attendance record.

For the third consecutive year, ESPN will present every game from Las Vegas via the ESPN App, along with 43 games on its linear television networks (ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU).

NBA TV, co-managed by the NBA and Turner Sports, will air a record 40 games, beginning with the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League opener when the Croatian National Team, making its event debut, squares off against the Detroit Pistons on July 5 at 3 p.m. ET. NBA TV’s coverage of Day 1 will also feature a 5 p.m. ET game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who selected Darius Garland with the fifth pick in NBA Draft 2019 presented by State Farm.

The Trail Blazers will begin defense of their MGM Resorts NBA Summer League title against the Pistons on July 6 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU. Later that day, the Atlanta Hawks, who selected Cam Reddish the 10th pick in NBA Draft 2019 presented by State Farm, will play the Milwaukee Bucks at 5 p.m. ET on NBA TV.

Speaking of SL play...

Post has an article stating that Knits and 2014 second rounder Louis Labeyrie (who had a good season in Spain, and we still have his rights) will be playing for France in upcoming prestigious FIBA World Cup later this summer.

That FIBA tournament isn't until late AUG, it would be nice if he comes to Vegas to support his teammates like he did coming to the draft to support Doumbouya his countryman. I think he senses its the end of the line for his Knicks career and he's putting some distance between him and the Knicks. He hasn't been in the Westchester facility at all since the season ended.

Given his situation and possible continued lack of playing time, Ntilikina and his new agent could be aiming to try to encourage the Knicks to decline his team option for the 2020 season. If they want, Knicks could control his future for the next 2 seasons and potentially the season after that with his qualifying offer. He needs to tread carefully though. Ntilikina could be on the fast track out of the NBA if he doesn?t try to make the most of his opportunities this season.

One thing is for sure, Ntilikina is currently an untradeable player because he is overpaid on his rookie deal. Under their current deals, Ntilikina would make 1.5 million more than DSJ over the next 3 seasons.

Yeah... he?s untradeable from all parties. If NY doesn?t need the cap space it would be ASININE to dump him for peanuts ...

If we whiff in free agency then you bring him back and see if he can prove himself... why not?

Guess who was the last first round pick to sign a second contract with Knicks? Charlie Ward. That?s 20 years ago!

He won’t play in SL but Nits on Twitter showing his offensive game. Can’t imagine him being part of the rotation from what I’ve seen, the 2020 version looks like the 2018 2019 model from the little I’ve seen, still can’t believe his fans haven’t given up on him and think that this is going to be his breakout year. Only chance he has if he all of a sudden becomes a 3pt sniper and a 3 and D guy as a result.

He’s in Dallas training, pretty short trip to LV so he should at least be there to support his teammates.

2 more days until we get to see our guys on Friday night. Let?s go, let?s go, let?s go!

More excited about RJ than I would have been with pretty much any free agent signing other than Kawhi.

Knicks 7-foot-1 center Mitchell Robinson is back in Sin City with newly dyed blond hair, a new jersey number and a more disciplined defensive game.

Kevin Knox II returns stronger and more accustomed to the speed of the NBA.

Look out, Las Vegas.

?I feel I can guard anybody,?? Robinson said following the Knicks? second summer league practice Wednesday at UNLV. ?Last year you all seen a little bit of it. I was No. 2 in blocks (in the NBA at 2.4 per game). I played good defense and I feel I will play a lot better defense.??

Knox, who will turn 20 next month, had a roller-coaster rookie campaign before coming on late. He fell short of expectations for a lottery pick while shooting 37% and didn?t make any of the all-rookie teams.

?It was definitely motivation,?? said Knox, who was taken ninth in the 2018 draft. ?I worked hard a lot this summer with a chip on my shoulder and I got a lot better. It was definitely motivation to use it for next year.??

The steps made by Knox and Robinson will likely determine if the Knicks will have any chance of vying for a playoff berth following an NBA-worst 17-65 record and a free agency that didn?t net an All-Star despite $70 million of cap space.

?I just feel so much more comfortable on the court now,?? Knox said. ?I have a little bit more head on my shoulders. I feel a lot more stronger, much more confident and more of a leader, so I can help some of the other guys out.?

Robinson, who hosts his own show on the Knicks website, is more gregarious than a year ago when he spoke little in Vegas but picked up many fouls.

?I came in last year and had a lot of fouls,?? Robinson said. ?But you saw at the end, I had less and I will carry that the rest of my career.?

Almost all of Robinson?s points last season came via alley-oop dunks, put-backs or from an occasional post move. He took three jumpers all season, finishing at 69.4% shooting.

Jump shooting, he said, is still a work in progress, but his defense is more polished. Last year, he led the NBA in blocked 3-pointers, showing his lightning speed on that end.

?I?ve gotten a lot of jump shots up, some from the behind the arc,?? Robinson said. ?My defense is pretty much there. I just have to work on my offensive game.??

Knox, meanwhile, needs to be more efficient. At times the former Kentucky forward seemed discombobulated driving to the rim, getting blocked or missing wildly. Knox showed progress in that area in the season?s final weeks.

?I learned a lot my rookie season ? the pace of the game,?? Knox said. ?Playing at the right pace, not 100 miles an hour. Something to take into next season.?

Knox?s assist total was meager, averaging 1.1 per game. Knox said he and new lottery pick RJ Barrett are working on playing off each other, noting Barrett is ?a good passer.?

?It?s good we?re together so we can get the chemistry for the season,?? Knox said. ?I just want to be a better passer in summer league and in the season. I?m going to try to be more aggressive in getting my teammates open shots.??

Robinson will switch from 26 to 23 on his jersey. And it?s not for LeBron James, but in honor of two slain high school teammates.

?It means a lot,?? Robinson said. ?I talked to [equipment manager] Mike Martinez at the end of the season. Luckily we got it to happen. They passed away and I put their numbers together and got 23. I didn?t want 32.??

Robinson also showed up with new blond locks, reminiscent of Frank Ntilikina last season.

?Something I wanted to try,?? Robinson said. ?I think I look pretty good with it. I think it looks better on me.?

The first look at their growth comes Friday against New Orleans. Robinson will get a chance to block his first shot of phenom Zion Williamson?s.

?He?s a player, I?m a player. Why not? We?re both here,?? Robinson said. ?He?s a rookie but he?s going to have a great career ahead of him.?

Aside from the main attractions, the roster features plenty of guys who will aim to make their mark. Here are a few that could make some noise:

Amir Hinton

- 22-year-old combo guard who split his collegiate time with Division-II schools Lock Haven and Shaw.
- Natural scorer who (while at Lock Haven) became the fastest player in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) history to reach the 1,000-point mark.
- While at Shaw, he averaged a D-II best 29.4 points per game while shooting 48.8% from the field in his first and only season there.
- Earned the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Year award at Shaw.
- High-volume and efficient mid-range shooter, an area he used for 56% of his shots last season.

Lamar Peters

- 21-year-old who just completed three seasons at Mississippi State under head coach Ben Howland.
- Shot 39.8% from the field while averaging 12 points per game in his junior year.
- Had five 20+ point games and 21 games of five assists or more.
- Tallied 21 points, five assists against Liberty in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
- Has advanced court vision and impressive handles, though his shot selection is questionable at times.
- You can see his workout with the Pacers here.

Kenny Wooten III

- 21-year-old forward who spent two seasons as a member of the Oregon Ducks.
- Finished his collegiate career averaging 6.4 points per game and 4.7 total rebounds per game.
- Primarily known for his shot-blocking ability, finishing with an average of 2.2 per game in 2018-2019.
- Was a standout in Oregon's 2019 NCAA Tournament appearance with 11 blocks, 14 rebounds and 20 points between games against Wisconsin and UC-Irvine.
- Competed in the G-League Elite minicamp in May, but was not invited to the Draft Combine.

Miitchell Robinson has been invited to join the Select Team at USA Basketball training camp.
After slipping into the second round, Mitch Rob greatly exceeded expectations last season. He was also a fantasy monster, averaging 9.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game after the All-Star break as a rookie.

?In truth, Knicks brass doesn?t seem all broken up about the KD/Kyrie whiff.

During summer-league practices, Mills and Perry looked like a weight had been lifted from their shoulders, knowing the risk of taking on the injured KD and the checkered Irving, who destroyed the Celtics? locker room.?

Well, thee are Perry?s kids... here we go... I?ll watch later tonight.
