Taj Gibson - Sore groin (QUEST) -

    Game Preview

Color Zach LaVine unsurprised about the Chicago Bulls' 3-2 West Coast road trip without center Nikola Vucevic, who remains in the NBA's health and safety protocols for COVID-19.

"We're a resilient team," LaVine said. "If there's a bump in the road, we respond the right way."

The Bulls hope to continue that trend Sunday as they open an abbreviated homestand of two games in as many nights when they host the New York Knicks. LaVine continued to spark the team away from home, capping the trip by scoring 12 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter to key Friday's 114-108 victory at Denver.

"There were some plays he was a little disappointed with (earlier)," Chicago coach Billy Donovan said. "That's what he does: He becomes even more focused. He made some really remarkable plays and in many ways carried us.

"For me, it's remarkable to watch him. He's one of the best tough-shot makers in the league."

LaVine has finished with 20 or more points in 15 of Chicago's 16 games this season. LaVine is averaging 26.8 points per game and DeMar DeRozan is averaging 26.6 for Chicago, which also is benefiting from strong backcourt play from Lonzo Ball, who is shooting 57.1 percent over the past three games.

The Knicks have won two of three after topping the skidding Houston Rockets on Saturday night. Alec Burks scored 17 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter to help New York overcome a one-point deficit entering the final period and emerge with a 106-99 win.

Julius Randle posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds and was one of five Knicks to score in double figures.

"I like the way we fought," Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. "I like the way we found a way to win in the end."

New York's Taj Gibson, a former member of the Bulls, was held out of the game with a groin injury. Frontcourt mate Nerlens Noel, meanwhile, returned from a four-game absence due to right knee injury, contributing six rebounds and three blocks in 29 minutes.

"Nerlens gives you elite rim protection, great decision-making. Multiple effort guy," Thibodeau said. "So you couldn't ask anything more form your center. He doesn't give up on plays, he doesn't give in. So that's huge."

Thibodeau said he will consult with Kemba Walker on Sunday morning about whether he'll be able to play in the second leg of a back-to-back as Walker works back from injury.

"If he feels good," Thibodeau said, "he'll go. ... You trust Kemba."

The visiting Knicks edged the Bulls 104-103 on Oct. 28 behind a potent one-two punch from Walker (21 points) and R.J. Barrett (20). Julius Randle contributed 13 points and 16 rebounds while finishing one assist shy of a triple-double.

Chicago closed the game on a 12-0 run before the Knicks defense stopped DeRozan at the buzzer to preserve the win, their third straight in the series. LaVine paced Chicago with 25 points.

The Bulls are slated to visit the Knicks on Dec. 2 and March 28.

Wsup Rady .... Thanks for the Game-Thread .. how come I believe the Knicks could win todays game in Chi-Town if the Knicks let Kemba RJ and Fournier run the offense up top, and keep feeding MitchRob & Randle down low for inside scoring. We Knicks fans have to admit coach Thibs offense-plans stink (13 points in the first quarter made me believe we were the 1-14 record team last night).
Since the season started i been waiting for the Kemba & MitchRob PNR, wsup?
Does coach Thibs have any offensive plays other than shooting a quick 3 Ball ???
Since last season it looks like play-maker Randle comes up with all the offensive-plays each game !!!

Knicks really missed Taj yesterday. HOU dominated glass.

Would nice nice if NYK pockets a win here. A tough 7 game stretch. They have 2 wins vs PHI and could gran their second win vs the Bulls.

The Knicks will see the Bulls twice, the Lakers, Suns, Hawks, Nets, and Nuggets over the next seven games. They’ll then travel to San Antonio, Indiana, and Toronto before facing the defending champion Bucks and Steph Curry’s revived Golden State dynasty. That forbidding stretch will say a ton about who the Knicks are, where they are heading, and what Rose did or didn’t do to help them.

    Bulls without their C

Rose opted for Kemba and Fournier over Ball and DeRozan.

    Let’s go!

    Start IQ plz

It will an incredible upset if the boys manage to beat the Bulls. Key is to jump on them early and make them play catch up all game.

I somehow didn't see that they were playing a back to back. That's how things are going in my mind lately. Just put it on.

Kemba, RJ, and Fournier are a combined 1-13. They wouldn't be struggling if the trio control the offense, and Randle played the PF spot down low.

4 minutes left… 94-91 CHI. Randle finds IQ for 3… waived. Came just after buzzer. Tough blow.

Tough loss on a back to back. Chicago is for real. I get people don’t love all aspects of Randle’s game, but on a night like tonight, hard to believe we’d be a team anywhere near this competitive without him.

I agree, Metro is wrong when he says RJ is our best player, been saying JR is our best player since he joined the Knicks. Knicks scrapped and hung around when the Bull looked to break open the game in the 4th, Coby’s 3 3s in the 4th were decisive and an IQ 3 that didn’t beat the clock would have helped.

We couldn’t hit from deep and CHi went like 6-8 from downtown in the 4th. White and Jones hitting some.

I think last night and last year shows NYK better off running offense through Randle until another option is brought in. Kemba and Evan not worth taking ball out of his hands.

We signed Evan and he had 3 points
Bulls sign DeRozan and he had 31

RJ grabbed 15 rebounds and played defense. How does Kemba or Evan help you win if they don’t score?

Rose also couldn’t score in second half.

We’re still above .500 with the same record as the Celts and Sixers. I’d roll with these lineups and see if it changes anything.

    Starters

    Rose
    Burks
    RJ
    JR
    Noel

    2nd unit

    Walker
    IQ
    Fournier
    Obi
    MRob

Tiger… be bold and truly change the lineup. Insert Knox, Obi, Burks, Rose. There a problem at the 5 because you have same type of players. Quit playing and truly do something. What do you have to lose or what does the team have to lose?
What about change the coach? Walton is available… not to say I would want him.

As long as Randle consistently run the Knicks offense the start of our longest losing streak starts now !!!
