Nailon signs with Hawks

ATLANTA, GA (September 30, 2003) ----- Atlanta Hawks General Manager Billy Knight announced today that the club has signed free agent forward Lee Nailon to a contract. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

A three-year NBA veteran, Nailon has spent time with the then-Charlotte Hornets (2000-01 and 2001-02) and New York Knicks (last season). With the Knicks last season, Nailon appeared in 38 contests, averaging 5.5 ppg and 1.8 rpg, logging 10.7 mpg. In 2001-02, he was a solid offensive contributor for the Hornets, as he averaged 10.8 ppg and 3.7 rpg (.483 FG%, .747 FT%). In 41 games as a starter, he tallied 15.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg.

As a rookie in 2000-01, Nailon finished with 3.9 ppg and 2.2 rpg in 42 games. He hit .485 FG% and .744 FT%. He spent time with Adecco Milano in the Italian A-1 league in 1999-2000, starting 18 games and putting forth a team-best 18.2 ppg and 4.4 rpg.

He was originally selected by the Hornets in the second round (43rd pick overall) of the 1999 NBA Draft, and signed with the Hornets on 8/18/00.
