NBA Postion:Center
Class:Freshman
Ht:7-0

Damn, he made a nice pass in the paint, something I never seen Curry or Randolph do. He's a pretty raw player though.

My favorite draft site is draftexpress.com

Nicolas Batum is nasty...

Go 1990s New York Knicks!
Kid is quick. kinda like Amare. with a little Dwight Howard in him. I like his game from what I see from that video. Good find man. You got anyone else?

Go 1990s New York Knicks!
If we continue this fall we will get a good pick unless we are unlucky like Memphis and having the projected 1st pick get the 4th pick. That would suck... The draft of 08 is said to be better then 2007 draft and the 2003 draft. So you can just imagine the talent...

ESPN Rookie Ranks
"1. Michael Beasley 6-9 PF Kansas State
Best outside-inside talent in the draft. But does he have the desire to be great?
2. Derrick Rose 6-4 PG Memphis
The best pure point guard in the draft could push for the No. 1 overall pick.
3. Eric Gordon 6-5 SG Indiana
Do-it-all combo guard is already lighting up the box scores as a freshman.
4. O.J. Mayo 6-4 SG USC
It's clear Mayo's going to be a great NBA scorer ... but will he give a team anything else?
5. DeAndre Jordan 7-0 C Texas A&M
Athletic big man has huge upside, but does he have the work ethic?
6. Kosta Koufos 7-1 C Ohio State
Skilled big man had a great summer. Looks like the drop off in the middle at Ohio State won't be as bad as some thought.
7. Chase Budinger 6-7 SG Arizona
Volleyball spiking 2 guard also has deep range on his jump shot. Has become the best player on the Arizona squad.
8. Darrell Arthur 6-10 PF Kansas
Long, athletic forward has been putting up some surprising numbers at Kansas.
9. Marreese Speights 6-10 C Florida
Big man has big talent and with Al Horford and Joakim Noah gone, he gets to show it.
10. John Riek 7-2 C Prep School
Mysterious big man from Sudan will try to jump from prep school to the NBA."

How could espn not put Donte Greene up there...

6'11 SF that can shoot play nice D and make highlight dunks, Another Rashard Lewis maybe even better.

this is a guy we need to pick and i dont even care if we blow our whole season to get him. Dude will be a straight beast

If things continue the way there going....

Now some information about each top 5 player.
#1 pick overall-.Michael Beasley
10/10 Athleticism.. 9/10 Size...7/10 Defense ...9/10 Strengh...9/10 Quickness....6/10 Leadership...9/10 Jumpshot...NBA Ready 9/10...Rebounding 10/10...Potential 10/10...Post Skills 9/10... Intangibles 6/10. OVERALL 103
This guy wouldn't be the right fit for the Knicks.. Not to much leadership... and defense has to improve, but its good in my opinion anyway.. Knicks shouldn't try getting him..But I also wouldn't mind him on the team.. Great shooter. and has loads of potential... and is one of the ten top players in the draft that is REALLY NBA ready. I guess the Knicks can take him.

#2 pick overall-Derrick Rose
10/10 Athleticism.. 9/10 Size...9/10 Defense ...8/10 Strengh...10/10 Quickness....9/10 Leadership...7/10 Jumpshot...NBA Ready 7/10...Ball Handling 8/10...Potential 10/10...Passing 8/10... Intangibles 8/10. Overall 103.
I would like this guy on the team. Great point guard with a good mentality of the game. He might be a little raw for the NBA, but will be a great player for the NBA. Knicks should get this guy.

#3 pick overall-DeAndre Jordan
10/10 Athleticism.. 10/10 Size...9/10 Defense ...9/10 Strengh...9/10 Quickness...7/10 Leadership...8/10 Jumpshot...NBA Ready 6/10...Rounding 9/10...Potential 10/10...Post Skills 6/10... Intangibles 8/10. Overall 101.
Good player. I just hope he will have the work ethic. People say that his work ethic is below average then anyone else on the team. A little to over confident I should call him.. Its a coin flip with this guy... I just don't think he will fit either... But if he shows work, and is not a player like Curry.. THEN I see him on this Knick team.

#4 pick overall-Eric Gordon
10/10 Athleticism.. 6/10 Size...7/10 Defense ...10/10 Strengh...9/10 Quickness....8/10 Leadership...10/10 Jumpshot...NBA Ready 9/10...Ball Handling 7/10...Potential 9/10...Passing 7/10... Intangibles 8/10. Overall 100.
Eric Gordon, also a player that is NBA ready. Great of the dribble, and score. Defense can improve. I like this player. The Knicks can get him if the chance comes.

#5 pick overall-Donte Green
8/10 Athleticism.. 9/10 Size...8/10 Defense ...8/10 Strengh...8/10 Quickness....8/10 Leadership...9/10 Jumpshot...NBA Ready 8/10...Ball Handling 7/10...Potential 9/10...Passing 8/10... Intangibles 8/10. Overall 98.
This kid is great. I would like to have a hard working player like him on this team.. He has the potential to be a great All Star in this league.
Knicks should definately scout the guy.

I've been following James his rookie year, he played in Northeastern with Jose Juan Barea, current PG for the Dallas Mavericks. James was amazing and one of the most athletic big men I ever seen before.

Here are his stats from his freshman and rookie years @ Northeastern.

2004-05
24 minutes
10.6 ppg
7.6 rpg
1 spg
5.4 bpg <~ not a typo
63% FG
71% FT
33% 3pt

2005-06
27 minutes
12.4 ppg
8 rpg
1.5 apg
.8 spg
6.5 bpg <~ NOT A TYPO again
52% FG
45% 3pt
73% FT

He then transfered from Northeastern to Duquesne
He's averaging 14 ppg 7.2 rebounds in 24 minutes on 58% FG and 73% FT while shooting 31% from 3pt. He's only averaging 4.4 blocks.

Article on him

December 13, 2007
Shawn James is a fascinating and frustrating prospect at the same time. While he possesses outstanding physical tools and a tantalizing skill set, he is in a system that is not rewarding to post players and is coming off of a transfer season filled with injuries and inaction. The past three games, particularly games against West Virginia and Pittsburgh, really show both sides of James, the great, and the rusty.

Most NBA draft junkies know Shawn James, the elite shot blocker, but first it is worth mentioning how much his offensive game has improved. Against good post defense, James had the ability to showcase his various improvements and his potential to be a post player and post scorer at the next level. The results were mixed. James is still a somewhat of a work in progress on the offensive end. On the low blocks, he shows a nice arsenal of post moves, from spin moves to turnarounds. While he does not have the greatest touch in the world, he does convert on a good amount of his shots around the basket, shooting 58% for the season.

Even further from the basket, James is effective, being able to knock down open jump-shots from 15 feet to just inside the NBA three point line. He has a consistent shooting form, but one that could still use a substantial amount of work. However, he shoots foul shots very well for a post player, which proves that it’s just a matter of practice in terms of tightening up his jump-shot’s form. For a guy James’s size, this is an attractive facet of his offensive game. Still, you’d like to see him getting more involved under the basket. However, because of the nature of the Duquesne offense, touches are few and far between. Even though he and fellow post player, Kieron Achara, are averaging over 26 ppg, they are still having to scrap for their points and hope for passes from their trigger happy, selfish guards. Therefore, a lot of James’s points are self-created and have a lot to do with his aggressiveness on the offensive boards as well as his ability to face the basket on the offensive end. James’s offense in general is a little mechanical and inconsistent, but as said before, he should be constantly improving all season and shaking off the rust.

On the defense end, James is a presence merely by stepping onto the court. Watching West Virginia and Pittsburgh shoot over 15 three-pointers per game shows, to a certain extent, his incredible defensive reputation. He is incredibly gifted athletically and uses a combination of length with this athleticism to alter shots at a remarkable rate. He also has superior body control, timing, and consistency, making him a shot blocking threat in the open floor as well as in the post.
Whomever James defends is usually altering their shot by the end of the game. In terms of his actual post defense, the key word is strength. James is very skinny and even if he were to succeed at the next level as a face up power forward, he is still far too weak to get touches on the offensive end and make plays on the defensive end. He should look to gain more muscle, though this could be an endeavor for a guy who has only been able to put 20 pounds onto his already feeble frame. He has the quickness and agility to be a good post defender, but it all depends on whether or not he can gain the right amount of strength.

This also affects his rebounding. While he rebounds at an extremely high rate for the amount of minutes he plays, he still has a long way to go before being considered an elite rebounder. For one, James is always a second late establishing position on the boards, constantly giving his man time to box him out. Despite his athleticism and length, he is not strong enough to fight around the box out or establish position for himself. Therefore, on the defensive boards, as well as the offensive boards, he is somewhat of an underachiever. Considering the fact that he is already pulling in 7.7 rpg, his potential is through the roof should he be able to become stronger and work on his fundamentals.

That is a good way to describe Shawn James: potential is through the roof.
So, even though James is having one of the best years of his career, he has a lot of work to do before becoming a legitimate NBA prospect. He has the size, athleticism, and ability to, if he works hard, become a serviceable face-up power forward in the future. The rest of this year will be a telling one for James in terms of how much of this potential is actually attainable. For the upstart Duquesne Dukes, however, James’s involvement on the offensive end is essential for any sort of success.

I'm not concerned about his strength, anyone can gain strength with the proper training and with NBA trainers this shouldn't be a problem.

Anyway, we need this guy, he's the Anti Curry.

As of 2/9/06...
Leading the NCAA in 6.4 bpg and 134 total blocks.
On pace to match Adonal Foyle's NCAA record of 6.4 bpg set in 1997.
Last year as a freshman he was 2nd in the nation at 5.4 bpg.
Shooting .452% this year...from behind the arc, 14-31.
Playing in just his fourth year of organized basketball.

I just saw the guy play on TV a while ago against Virginia Commonwealth I'll never forget it
He got a triple double, first of the year (had two last year):
26 points, 10 rebounds, 10 blocks, 3 assists, 1 steal.
10-13 FG, 1-3 3PT, 5-7 FT (barely missed the last two)
Best of all: 1 turnover and 2 personal fouls. He has countless numbers of games like this and goes unnoticed.

Let me say this, and I'm calling it:
Shawn James will be the steal of whatever draft he's in.
He has the best knack for blocked shots I've seen in a long while.
Has terrific quickness in his vertical leap, allowing him to wait longer.
His wingspan is somewhere in the 7'1"/7'2" range.
He usually keeps the ball in play when he blocks a la Bill Russell.

Not only that but...he displayed a excellent shooting form, some nice moves and good awareness under the basket on offense, and he made a terrific backdoor pass. I simply cannot believe how good he is for someone who's had only four years of organized basketball. Unreal

"I just decided that I wanted to get paid for playing basketball," James says. "I wanted to be able to provide for my family when [Ebony] is six and when my younger sister Teceeta is a senior in high school."

He's hungry.

Nah.. D Rose, Beasley, DeAndre Jordon, Eric Gordon....

No way I want Mayo now, I was a fan of his, but he is not playing well. To much turnovers. and he is a shoot first player, not pass first.

How can you call him a bust... Shawn aint a bust he's a great defensive player. and can fit into this league.. a little raw.

I thought you were busy to talking to hos? Haha, I knew you were whacking, loser.

Please stop your predications, you've been WRONG all them. Hop off Beasley I don't want him to be a bust because you predicted he's going to be nice. Everyone you say thats going to be nice becomes so whack they make their way out of the NBA.

Shawn James is a second round pick who could become a first rounder if he stays consistent.

You only know like 4 players from this draft, you're a fool...let Knicks126 and I discuss the draft...you just hold our coffee. I'm Barkley and He's Kenny Smith...you just hold the camera for us.

DeAndre Jordan is now ranked the Knicks pick third overall on NBADraft.net..

The things about him is that he is a raw player, and his work ethic at times are not existant... I don't want this guy to be another Kwame... but it seems like the Knicks gotta take a chance on him.. if he does gets picked by the Knicks I think we should start him automatically... and trade EC away. Like Portland did to make room for Aldrigde PF spot because of drafting Oden and trading Zach away.

OR. if the Knicks do get the 3rd pick.. will the Knicks Pick Eric Gordon...He can play!... BUT he is a shooting guard, a player the Knicks really don't need at this point unless we trade Crawford.

OJ Mayo... Nah.. College is to much for him as you see.. Last year he was projected to be the top pick in the 08 draft. Has fallen to the 10th overall pick.

Hasheem Thabeet projected 11th pick.. 7 foot 3 inch player... Compared to Motumbo.. This YEAR 10 points 8 rebounds and 4 BLOCKED shots. He is a Sophomore for the Huskies. Good player. I think he will go down in the ranks. BUT he is a good player without a doubt.. A bit unconsisant on offense, but his defense pays off!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CuJK47H3W0
That video was from last year.. This year is a big improvement in all areas.

Hilbert I dont like I am not goin to talk about him..He seems like an Isiah player. He is a senior in College This year 12 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. I like GEORGETOWN.. but I just don't really have faith in this kid. NBA comparison Joel Przybilla.

D.J. Augustin small but plays with heart has leadership I like this player. Currently ranked 16 for the 08 Draft.. Compared to a young Travis Best.

This is a good thread, but I think it would've been better to post this thread after the trade deadline. Depending on who or what Isiah trades between now and the deadline will determine the type of player we need.Right now, we could really use a good defensive Center and a good defensive point guard. But this could change, if Isiah makes a trade between now and the deadline.
