If there would be any real chance of getting a healthier cap situation and to keep Lee, I wouldn't trade him and rather give him extension. But I don't see this coming. I do also think that Robinson is more important for D'Antoni's system so we have to decide wether to resign Nate oder Lee, both simply won't work. One of them has to be packaged with Curry's contract.

Com-on where are the rest of the other members that believe.... trading Lee is a good idea.
I' waiting silently......
I will read everyone post.....then explain why Lee, Nate, and Chandler are the last players you trade on this roster.

I've ordered our younger players in order of importance

Chandler -> Gallo? -> Nate -> Lee -> Collins -> Roberson

Chandler - All around game. He has even been compared to a poor mans Shawn Marion already. He can block, has range, is explosive, plays decent defense (tho he looks great compared to people on the Knicks)

Gallo - 19 and has a lot of potential and i am unwilling to give up on him despite needing a backiotomy so early.

Nate - Explosive, shoots 3's at a pretty good clip career wise. Runs this offense the way it is supposed to be run (7 seconds or less). And for some strange reason i can't explain it seems like he always brings us back into the game when we are behind. He'll never be a good defender tho.

Lee - He is good at what he does. Grabbing boards, getting tip ins, shooting high FG% (cuz he's around the basket). His mid range will never be good, at best it will be proficient. These skills are quite replacable however. Paul Millsap is identical to Lee and He was the 47th pick of the 06 draft.

Don't get me wrong, i love Lee's hustle just like i loved Balkman as a player. You can tell they aren't taking their NBA careers for granted.

But in terms of talent, they really are very easily replacable.

It is quite easy to draft 1 dimensional players in the 2nd round. Lee and big man with mobility that can box out effectively to get bounds, and Balkman a defensive specialist that can't shoot.

oh yah....

i still want Kaman. Better than all our big men.

And one last point on Lee (i know it is going to open up a can of worms because i'm going to use the R word). I try to live my life in a vacuum and pretend race doesn't exist cuz i chill with everyone, i don't have a racial preference on girls, don't pre-judge people based on it, but the reality is it does on a macro level. People generally support their own.

His trade value is instantly higher because he is white, and it doesn't hurt that he does all the right things too...he doesn't trash his teammates and you have to love his work ethic. Listen i'm Asian, but i will put it to you like this...when Yao broke in, instantly mad asian people became Rockets fans, same with Yi and i don't ever see him being more than a ok player. My latin friends always jock latin players wheter in baseball, basketball, boxing. My italian friends jock italian players, irish etc etc etc.

There is nothing wrong with that, you want to see people like yourself succeed. Being that all races watch the NBA, but there are more white people in America, he instantly has increased trade value. Sorry to bring this up but it's true.

We could definitely get a steal if we traded him.

Yeah I believe that we should look into trading Lee. I think Lee is a great hustler but his inability to hit a medium range jumper and not big enough to handle an athletic big man and too slow to handle an athletic small forward makes him not a good choice for the future of this team. His rebounds have gone down and smaller slower Zac is out rebounding him at this point.

Maybe off the bench he would be good but he will have be careful what we offer him by way of contract.

Lee

I like Lee as a Knick for now and the future, but I agree with Paco de Pacas. He is not a talent problem but likely a 2010 cap victim.

But I think he can be more valuable in a trade than simply as a sweetening throw -in to eliminate Curry. I would hope that Curry could depart for some bad contracts that expire before 2010 without the addition of Lee. He -- Lee -- could be traded for a promising player who has a couple of more years on his rookie contract and, therefore, will not be so much of a burden on the 2010 cap. Perhaps a 2010 first round pick. We need one. We are rebuilding.

Now I understand what the 2010 Plan is..... it's Gallinari giving us his first full season performance.

It's been 11 games in the season and already we got members wid the trading Blues. The trading blues belong in the offseason and the February deadline. Donnie Walsh got you guys all screwed up on the best time to trade and the best time to be improving team performance.

How many teams have a simular Frontcourt rotation as the Knicks (just two 6.9 players)? and get WINS from this frontcourt rotation (6.8 Chandler).
Between our Frontcourt & Backcourt rotation of players which one gave more to the 6 wins this season?

Watching the Portland vs Chicago game the Bulls did not have a chance in HELL to Win with Portlands Big Bench rotation of 7.0 Oden, 6.11 Frye, and 6.9 Outlaw demanding the entire paint area. And these Bigmen are the 20 minute bench-players.

The Chicago Bulls Bigmen rotation (7.0 Gray, 6.11 Noah, 6.10 Gooden, 6.9 Thomas, and 6.9 Deng) is much bigger and better than our Knick bigmen rotation of 6.9 Zach, 6.9 Lee, and 6.8 Chandler, where all 3-players can not afford to play defense in the first half of each game for fear of getting into early foul trouble which would hurt the Team.

The upcomming Knick schedule does not look good in the win/loss column for this 6-5 Knick team. I only see 2 wins in the next 10 games b/c Zach & Lee does not have any bigmen-teammates help in their rotation vs oposition Bigmen on the Cavs, Pistons, Blazers, Hawks, Bulls, plus the Nets many young bigmen which showed domination over our only two tired bigmen in the final quarter.

I'm wondering how us fans will react when our record is 8-13 wid the next 4 games on the road.
Trading Lee wont be looked at when the Knicks invitable record become 9-18 and 10-20 ...

Later For DeeLee

Great comments from all, and I am a huge DLee fan. However, I agree that Nate is of greater need to this team, and brings more to the floor, if a choice has to be made who to trade. Perhaps DLee is back on bench to decrease his net worth, making his free market value less.. a ploy to allow DLee and N8 to be resigned within budget?

DLee is a team player on this squad, and plays well with N8, Zbo, Crawfish and Chandler just by knowing their play. He is one of the best sixth men in the league, along with N8, and brings much more than his stats (faltering due to a li'l foot prob) to this squad. Outlet passes, key rebounds, an improving jump shot... if Knicks can keep him, we'll be blessed. He can be the cornerstone of a great team.

I hate to say it, but if we need to move Lee, for a dominant defensive presence, or a serious big man who can score, he is indeed expendable. Packaging Curry with Lee, and an expiring contract like Rose, or maybe Staph, could be in the making, because something's gonna go down...
We need size guys.
