Gallo and Curry:Are The Two Knicks only Untouchables!

New New York

The Knicks do not want to part with Gallo thus making him untouchable, and simply no other team in the league will touch Curry! Making him too "untouchable"

So would you pair the two of them for expiring contracts?

I have wrestled with this one for a while, I think we have all seen flashes of how good Gallo could become. He is a player that looks to do other things when his shot is falling and that is pretty mature for a 21 yr old. He is probably the best all around player on the team....and again he is only 21!

But, we need to move Curry if we are going to make any major moves this offseason. I am pretty confident that we could ship Jared Jefferies to a team like the Spurs in exchange for a couple of second rounders on July 1st, I think he has shown he can do the intagiables to help a team win. Curry has not shown anyone anything so to move him we are going to have give up a major piece!

Gallo's trade value is as bout as high as Curry's is low -and that might be giving too much credit to Danillo!- so really in theory a package containing both would be a wash.

What makes this idea entertainable is the idea that Wilson is looking better -albiet not on the level of Gallo, and doesnt seem to have Gallo's upside- and simply Gallo and Wilson occupy the same position and do not play well at any other position, so one should be moved.

Now if we did package them both-Curry and Danillo- for expiring deals it would give us an additional 14.5 million in cap space so lets say the cap comes in at 52 million that would give us 39 million in cap space next off season plus the MLE and lets say we do move Jefferies -like I think we could- that is 45 million plus the MLE

Now with that kinda of money and flexability on the line Danillo could be expendable. That would give us enough to sign Bosh,Johnson, resign David and Al and use the MLE on a PG like Blake

Blake/Douglas
Johnson/Wilson/Douglas
Chandler/Harrington
Lee/Hill/Harrington
Bosh/Lee/Hill

That is Power House team.....so is it worth it to move Danillo to move Curry?

Please elaborate! The only weakness is that this team is pretty thin in the backcourt, but that could be easily tweaked with a cheap signing. Bosh is the perfect compliment to Lee on the frontcourt, Blake is a sound PG who is a good defender and playmaker. Joe Johnson and Bosh gives us two go to scorers and Wilson is the perfect X-Factor

This for sure would be the second best team in The East!

When i saw the thread i was like Curry "untouchable", great explanation, lol.

As fas as Gallo he is instrumental in building a core and attracting big names. The kid is solid and still has potential to improve. Very well rounded player, versatile, and has length. We will have to stick with Curry or Jefferies unless they opt out or maybe we can trade them for a top player in the 2010 offseason, by then there contracts are valuable as they are expriring.

Jefferies could have some takers by the deadline, but Curry: no chance.

im one of the biggest gallo fans here, i dont want to see him traded. and i hate to say it but giraffe jeffries looks like some1 we cant trade if we want to make the playoffs. but id rather trade jeffries than lose gallo with curry. do we showcase eddy curry though? i mean it seems like there is no way he can improve his stock

NO. NO. and an even bigger NO!

First of all, all this DUMP CURRY nonsense is ridiculous. Curry, as you stated, is clearly untouchable- right now! This season! BUT, we only have ONE year left on the Curry deal.

What is one of the most attractive assets on the market in the NBA these days- the much sought after EXPIRING CONTRACT. This is what Eddie Curry becomes the fraction-of-a-second the final buzzer sounds and this season ends.

It will be TEN TIMES easier to set Curry free this Summer. He might be useful in some sort of sign and trade.... or we might be able to bring in another expiring contract in a swap, or we might be able to bring back another player some team wants to dump.

THIS IS HOW THE KNICKS RUINED THEIR CHANCES TO COMPETE LAST DECADE- their impatience to jettison Patrick Ewing. All we had to do was hold on to PE for one more year, and then we were free. Instead, we brought in bad contract after bad contract, and we just kept digging a hole.

Furthermore, Danillo Gallinari is a rare talent. His potential is unlimited. We are seeing this year ALREADY how his will and competitive spirit are as unique as his shooting talent. ALREADY we are seeing a dude work on his defense.

FORGET leading the NBA in made-3s.... HIs block to end the game the other night is the play of the season for me- especially since it occured immediately after he choked and missed the free throw.

SO.... I have to pass. GALLO is too good to dump in order to HOPE we get 2 good players. AND, Curry is not the anchor everyone is talking about.

In a matter of 6 months, Curry goes from ASS to ASSET.

Maybe POR might inquire about Curry, as their next Big is down.
How about Curry for Miller & Outlaw, numbers match, we're saving 4 mls on Outlaws expirering next year and Millers 3rd is not guaranteed.

Let's hope Pritchard pulls an Isiah.....

cosign with mafra on this one. Eddy is not the anchor you think he is and will end up contributing one way or another.

I don't see Gallo going ANYWHERE anytime soon. He is quite possibly a knick for life if Walsh keeps it together.

Bill Simmons proposed an interesting trade

Fake Trade No. 2 (three-way): Tracy McGrady's EC to the Knicks; Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry and Cuttino Mobley's EC to Houston; Gallinari to the Warriors.

I would do this.

i dont see zepole as being anything special... sorry but to me he looks like a tall white guy who can shoot , but needs space, and unable to create space himself (typical of most white players), slow feet (did i already say typical of most white players)... despite his 'block' the other nite...

Well, if your opinion on Gallo counted, I might attempt to defend the 21 yr-old kid.

Anyway,

Methinks you watch to much mtv.

I don't know bro, Gallo is growing on me tremendously. Plus think about past champions. They had lethal 3 point specialists: John Paxson, Steve Kerr, Kukoc, Horry, Super Mario, Posey, Ginobili, the list goes onetc. Gallo offers more though. I think he is necessary in building a championship team. I want the NYK to keep him!!
