YardBarker On Anthony Randolph: 10/11's #1 Breakout Player

Crazy⑧s

Evacuee
1. Anthony Randolph (F) New York Knicks - Bounce back? From what? He hasn?t done anything yet! True. We would however, like to remind everyone that Randolph missed out on his projected potential due to the concussion he suffered after being hit over the head by Don Nelson?s dog house. That, and the fact that he actually did get injured in the latter half of the season.

He?s in a new team that?s committed to START him and give him prime minutes. So if there was ever such a thing as a ?RE-Sleeper,? Randolph would be this year?s candidate. Stay tuned, as we will provide a more in-depth and possibly equally humorous look at his potential upside in our New York Knicks Fantasy Basketball Preview. Anthony Randolph = Amar?e v.2.0 beta?

Is the whole league and it's fans holding their breath as much as we are?

Anthony Randolph will do everything to prove himself and be a very intense player. A game to look forward to, is the game against the Warriors. Randolph will show why he deserves to play more minutes.

There are very talented players with major charachter and IQ issues that slow them down, and forbode a solid chance they will always be kept way below their otherwise expected careers based off their talents and game.

AR-47 isn't it. He is supremely talented, supremely young.

And most important, his actual results have NOT been bad, even subpar, or indicative of his flaws keeping him down.

Everything indicates a hugely positive trend upward. And this year.

He got atrocious, inconsistent minutes while being kept in a retarded org's doghouse.

As NYK fans we know how retarded management can be.

If his draft was done over, and teams knew how he'd perform on court, evening limited experience, just based off of how he has balled at the NBA level so far...he'd be an elite lotto pick.

I see him having Pau Gasol level impact and worth, but prolly will never be underrated bc of his sheer athleticism (and location).

AR will always be able to post good stats. There is absolutely no question about that. Hes never had a problem with putting up good numbers when he has playing time.

The question is if he can learn how to play as part of a team. Can he show and recover defending pick and rolls, can he learn how to guard his man as opposed to just attempting to block every shot, and can he learn how to position himself on offense.

There are plenty of guys out there that can put out great numbers, but good coaches won't play them as they can't understand that the NBA isn't street ball. Look at Darius Miles, Stomile Swift, or more recently Larry Hughes (I always crack up when people complain he should get more playtime last season - they made a special website for him in Cleveland)

Anthony Randolph wouldve been the prime rookie SF for the Warriors if
PG-Baron Davis wouldve resign with GS.
Randolph needed development into NBA b.ball by receiving playingtime
within the same lineup his first two seasons in the NBA.
PG-Davis, PG/SG-Ellis, SG/SF-Jackson, SF/PF-Harrington, and SF/PF-Anthony Randolph.
Headcoach Don Nelson arrogant nature was 3 to 4 players away from having
a contender in the Western Conference.
u can mention proudly that PG-Baron Davis screwed-up the entire GSW team
by signing with the Clippers.

Anthony Randolph skills/talents/and athleticism still need to be develope
within a group of players that will be patient with guiding his mistakes.
Boston Big-Baby is not as athletic as Anthony Randolph, but Big-Baby
playingtime experience at the C/F position will out smart Anthony Randolph
at those position for a Boston win the next two seasons, if Anthony Randolph
does not get decent developement/confidence/communication from
Knick teammates & coaching staff.

It is easy for Brousssard to predict on a player like Anthony Randolph
athleticism b/c we will witness some great athleticism moments of Randolph
in one quarter of a game, or in one game out of three games to highlight a
wow! hooray! but we want a Anthony Randolph to put out this athletic
energy night after night on a consistent basis, which will only come from the
help of his teammates confidence and a hard working coaching staff building
a same-page rotation.

The above quote is crazy.
Anthony Randolph does not have the experience or playingtime to be a
starter vs the Eastern Conference teams experience starters, who are focusing
on how to out best the Magic/Celtic/Heat/and Bulls bigmen starters.
Plus Randolph overall talent is not on par with C-Turiaf/PF-Amare/SF-
Chandler to become a starter on the Knicks.
Anthony Randolph is best use as a 2nd unit off the bench of decent
developing players Mozgov/Randolph/Gallo/Walker/Douglas, a unit that gives
the Knicks a high depth-chart to challenge for the 5th to 7th seed
postseason teams for playoff birth.

This new rebuilding 2010-11 season Knick roster will have to put aside the
terrible mindset of being a starter, and how much playingtime they receive.
The playingtime should be given to the best unit out on the court.
This would make all the Knick players put out their best as a team.
There is nothing wrong with having a 2 unit team where alot of players get
playingtime from October to February.
The Knicks are in their first step of being a rebuilding-mode team that will add
4 new players for the 2011-12 season from the 2011 deadline, draft, and FA.

If he gets injured, then we are looking at another Chandler (young talent with huge ceiling that can't get over the hump because of injury)

BUT

If Randolph stays healthy then he will be awesome, especially in a fast break system. He is almost 7 feet, runs and dribbles like a 2 guard, and blocks like a beast.

Only guys like Lebron James have a game like that, so big crafty and good in almost every category

If Randolph knocks down a consistent jumper and stays healthy then he can be an all star/possibly franchise player if he is consistent

His lack of consistency is due in large part to his ineffectiveness to score from the outside.

Kiya, Randolph would put up better numbers than Turiaf and Chandler any day......in 20 min per game Randolph averaged around 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks....give him starters minutes and his confidence will grow and so will his numbers. And in a fast break system he can be ridiculously good with his size and athleticism and ball handling skills

The only thing halting Randolph is injury and consistency due in part of his jumpshot. If he can develope a jumpshot he will be more consistent because no one can stop this guy if you guard him close to stop the jumper, Randolph will just use his bball handling to smoke you and dunk on you, he is a beast.

Randolph is a rare bread...tall, athletic, can block shots, run like a guard, dribble like a guard, steal like a guard and change a game if he gets rolling and he is only 21 years old!

Randolph is like a more athletic defensive Lamar Odom minus the jumpshot.

Turiaf has never averaged more than 30 min per game I believe and until Chandler's IQ improves and he stays healthy and stops chucking outside shots, then I will give Randolph the nod in most situations.

For now I agree that Maybe starting Chandler is appropriate because of his years on this team and his ability to be a tall, strong slashing 2 guard, but we need shooters at the two and benching Randolph is a mistake and a waste of time. He needs minutes.
