Felton
Iggy
Fields
Chandler
Amar'e
* This starting 5 will beat 2/3 of the league, but it wont get us to the land of titles and championships.
Knicks need to get a true impact, defensive-mided center who can rebound and roam the paint. Toss in a viable backup PG. And round it out with a defensive specialist who can lock down wing players (SG/SF).
If Chandler, Fields and Gallo continue to blossom, mature and become consistent borderline all-stay type players.... The Knicks are golden.
However, the Knicks are at risk here. What if Chandler simply teases and never achieves true greatness? What if Gallo never puts the whole thing together?
One of them can be converted to the 6th man role, but would both be able to excel in a limited role?
So, do you replace Fields or Chandler with Iggy? I wouldn't. HIs offense doesn't fit well with this system.
I could replace Gallo with Melo, b/c Carmelo is a game-changer. I really want Gallo to become a star with us.... BUt would it be wise to pass on Melo?
If we get Melo, what Gallo ever become much of anything?
Chandler is the more complete player. BUt I worry about him being the 4th option. He's bests uited for the PF in D'ant's system, but would Felton-Fields-Melo-Chandler-Amar'e be title-worthy?
