More Melo news, They want Felt&Gallo

Felton is a nice player. Has heart, but let's not forget what Nelson did to him when ORL waxed CHA.
RF is what he is on top of that, Knicks can buy out Billups for 4 mil, not pick up his team option, and have some money to spend on a C this Summer (and we can use our 1st rounder to draft a PG).
Really RF was that bad? To the point where D-12 was double teamed and RF had to cover two players which meant Nelson had wide open looks? Sorry but this years draft is to weak to get a trusted PG out of!

If Knicks are lucky, DEN doesn't want AR... We deal him for that 1st round pick DEN wants and we get an asset along with it.
Nuggets are greedy and will more likely trade JR to Chicago for a 1st.

Eddy Curry goes. Nobody cares. If a piece of cake falls at 3am and nobody is around... does anyone notice what happens when those calories enter EC's buttocks?
Truely no one would cry if he just fell over from a heart attack.

I think DEN then gets the choice: they get either Gallo or Fields and Walker. They'll have to pick one option. Take the budding star or the future solid starting dual role players.
They can have Gallo he plays no defense or aggressive offense to get to the charity stripe ( a white version of R. Lewis, just sit at the 3-pt line jacking up 3's), Fields our sleeper draft rookie avg 10ppg/7rpg, walker is a 3pt specialist at best!

I think the final piece of the puzzle will be either Chandler or Walker.
Chandler we can keep since we have his Bird Rights and Walker can walk.

I realize this is alot. But NYK has no choice really. Amar'e is a STAR. Right now. We saw firsthand during the Ewing era the error of our ways (waiting to get another star to play alongside PE).
Ewing was what 37ish when he finally broke down? Also stars weren't jumping ship like they are now! Ever see Miller leave Indiana? Wilkins opting out to leave ATL? The Admiral leaving S.A? no those guys stayed till the end or till the organization traded them before they even asked leave! The Era was built in The Draft or Trades for "sleeper players"

LAL, BOS & MIA blew up their rosters... NYK has to. NBA is a game where you must have 2 superstars playing at an elite level to have a shot. Felton-Gallo-Chandler or not elite.
LAL blew up their roster? You call Kwame Brown and a low 1st rd pick for P. Gasol a blown up roster? How about a R.jefferson and Ricky Davis for one of the NBA's most physical and Highly defensive PF KG and NBA's best 3pt shooter blown up the roster? Yeah MIA blew up the roster to get 2 MVP caliber players and a role player, i'll give you that one but still waiting to be determined how this will work out! Also didnt back in the Late 90's we got players called A.houston, Camby, Sprewell, Childs, and LJ? a starting 5 there without Ewing.

It will stink if Gallo is a stud in 5 years. But it would be a total shame if Stoudemire's MVP caliber production goes for naught, and 2 years from now he starts to decline some and we failed to bring in the necessary pieces.
LoL Gallo wont become a stud unless he plays in Dallas next to Dirk!

Sure, 25% chance Gallo-Chandler and free agents, along with Moz-Fields mature into a legit DET-like run starting next year. But odds are the Knicks will be a 45-50 win team next season with this group + B-type free agents. And would fail to beat MIA anyway.
MIA hasn't proven anything yet but that they can win some season games! See me after the season after they are the champs! Remember the cavs were 60+ win teams for 2 years and were thumped from the playoffs!

Our only hope is Carmelo really. MIA raised the stakes. Sure, we could pass and go through the same thing next year. Hope to get Paul or Williams. And that might even be better.... But, since we missed on Lebron, and then if we pass on Carmelo... what happens if we fail to land Deron or Paul... or if a tag is put in place... Now it's 2013 and Amar'e is the new Benard King.
MIA raised nothing but get beat by defensive minded teams! Sry Knicks we cant play D for nothing, its all about scoring the most.

If this happens, Melo becomes public enemy #1 for me. He knows waiting until this summer to sign with us gives him and the Knicks the best chance at a championship.

But he wants that money. Even though he's made over $100 mil in his career thus far, apparently another $50 mil isn't enough. He's got to get that $65 mil. Even though he could easily make up the difference in NY endorsements, etc.

Lebron $14.5 mil to go for a championship
Bosh took $14.5 mil to go for a championship
Wade took $14 mil to go for a championship

Melo is demanding we sacrifice all of our assets so he can get $21 mil

I'm not sure we can ever win a championship with a player like that.

I have NO problem with Melo trying to get his own; that is what it mean to be an American but does the Knicks really want to tie up most of their cap on STAT and MELO?
The X factor here is the unknown new CBA!!!!!! We could be looking at 30 mil is cap reduction and even a hard cap!! If that is the case; our entire chance for a championship for the nex 5 years would be on STAT and MELO...2 guys that do not play D and hold onto the ball....
I think that 20 mil Melo wants per year would be better spent on bringing in multiple players that could make us better WITH OUT losing all or of youth in the process!!!
Think about it, what's potentially out there that can be traded for:
Danny Granger
Kevin Martin
David West
Richard Hamilton (who might negotiate a buy out)
James Harden
Iggy
Nicolas Batum
Ron Artest.... Maybe
Jamal Crawford (Dare I say)
These are all players that their teams would be willing to part with for various reasons and for various demands.
Not to mention that there are some nice players available as free agents this off season.....
MELO IS NOT THE END ALL!!!!!!!

I think sometimes we worry way too much about the new CBA.

The NBA is not going to reduce maximum contracts by that much when there're still professional sports in the US that don't have salary caps at all.

At best the owners will try to see if they can make it so that contracts aren't fully guaranteed, but there's no way a max contract in the new CBA is going to have less than the current 16.5 million dollars as the starting max when Alex Rodriguez is across the East River making 30 million dollars a year. The NBA will not be able to get away with its best players making HALF the amount that stars in other sports do...it's just not going to happen.

Best news is that it'll end one way or another in 7 days at most.

If Denver doesn't send Melo somewhere before trade deadline i'll get crazy. If we don't try to improve our team somehow, Melo or not, it'll be disappointing.

...personally would love to keep felton; can chauncey run this system? also don't want to lose melo to an east contender like the bulls. If this trade goes through and we get our hands on dwill or cp in the off-season, then this would be huge for nyc....regardless, its a good feeling to have bball back where it should be.

Take Felton out and it sounds good to me. But no way should we trade PGs. We only have one pure PG and honestly we need another.

What all this talk about swapping PGs tells me is that come the summer of 2012, the Knicks are going HARD after CP3/Deron.

But why all the negativity on Billups? When this guy gets hot, he is LIGHTS OUT. A core of Billups-Melo-Amare is a superstar trifecta, IMO.

Billups
Fields
Melo
Amare
Mozgov

I really REALLY REALLY don't wanna give up Gallo, MUCH rather give up Chandler... but either way that's a pretty good lineup. They aren't winning anything this year, go after a Center this offseason, and replace Billups with CP3 in 2012.

CP3
Fields
Melo
Amare
DeAndre Jordan

I have 3 letters for you........... NFL......... A sport that is not only more profitable than the NBA, is more popular than the NBA and they have a hard cap and some would argue it has created parity it the NFL and any team during any season could win it all!
That is the recipe that a lot of owners want. Don't kid yourself, anything could happen and the are talking about lowering MAX salaries and raising the minimum age again. Also, there is talk about revenue sharing to expand the developmental league so the owners want to make sure that is not cutting into their profits...
