at the end of the day, players and agents will always use teams to get what they wanted. knicks almost had it done with nash, but didn't want to give up shumpert. phoenix went with the lakers deal. i'm tired of hearing about how every player is using the knicks. we have tyson chandler, amare stoudemire, and carmelo anthony. regardless of what they've done here they are all star players in the nba. right now, we don't have the ability to just offer the most money or the best players in a trade. is it frustrating? yes, but it doesn't mean every guy is just using the knicks.

Agreed, this is all standard practice in negotiations. No one is dumb enough to just sign with a team that he wants to play for without exploring other options unless the contract is market competitive to begin with. Free agents need to gauge their market value just like teams do before they sign these guys.

Actually Knicks did finally put Shumpert in the deal, but it was Nash's decision to choose the Lakers to be closer to his kids... Not that he didn't want to come to NY, he has residents here... Smarter overall decision was to go to Lakers...

Unfortunately for Knicks Brass they out Nash, out on Fields, soon to be out on Lin if the offer sheet exceeds certain dollars... Could be out on Novak, & JR Smith...

Oh yeah we struck gold :barf:with a 29 year old dunk specialist from Italy lol!

Raymond Felton is not the answer maybe a deal could be struck for S&T for Dragic or this team will be the joke of NYC for another season...

I am one glad that Shump is staying here, he is a huge part of what we do on defense... But seriously, Knicks have options to make this team dominate but are choosing to stand pat... just another GM controlled by good ol Jimmy Dolan!!!

one other thing that bothers me. if we get nash then it was a clear move to try and win a title. now that we didn't get nash all of sudden knick management isn't doing anything. again, the knicks arent in a position to just be throwing money around. i'm not saying they have some major blockbuster move in the works, but it is what it is unfortunately.

I understand we don't have the money that a team like the Nets do. What I don't understand is what we're doing with the money we do have. Or our recruiting. We desperately needed either a PG (to back up Lin) or a SG who can actually shoot and we drafted Papanikolaou (we need a nickname for this guy) instead. We based our whole free agency on Steve Nash who would have filled the PG spot but wouldn't play back up for Lin who is now looking elsewhere.

Fields went to a different team, JR opted out, Shump was almost traded, and who knows about Novak now. At the very least, if we couldn't find anyone we could have tried to keep our team together. Now we have gaping holes in the 1 and 2 spots and no one wants to fill them. We'll have to settle for guys who are desperate for a chance in the NBA and have never worked with the Knicks offense before.

Next season should be fun...

the offseason isn't over. im not saying the knicks have some major move in the works, but it doesnt mean the offseason is a total loss. we just have to wait and see when training camp begins how the offseason went.
