OT: Suns Will Move Picks 4 Star

Broadway

All Star
The Phoenix Suns are looking to trade one or more draft picks in the 2014 NBA Draft for a proven star player who can make an immediate impact. The Suns will have as many as four picks in June's draft and are not placing them off limits in potential trades.

“I think one of the things that’s important for people to realize is that we may not draft four players even if we have four picks,” Ryan McDonough said. “Our preference would probably be to maybe package a few of them. We’re obviously all looking for stars and we feel like we can put together a package as good, if not better, than any other team in the league if and when a star becomes available.

"That’s kind of generally what we’ve wanted to do, not only with our draft-pick situation but also with the cap space that we’ve acquired.”

I posted this here because this is where most of the traffic resides although it's somewhat Off-Topic and then again it's not.

Listen this is a squad who's trying to position themselves to make the playoffs. Sarver wants to be able to make money too. This is also the same franchise who lusted Shumpert last year rumored deal of Dudley and a couple second rounders.

This may be our only chance to break the Melo shackles off. They have some pieces and assets we definitely could use. They have a mother load of picks

http://www.prosportstransactions.com/basketball/DraftTrades/Future/Suns.htm

We could probably dump Carmelo/Amar'e/Shumpert for Jokafor/Dragic/Frye/Gerald Green and picks. We have to try and get this done. This is our notice to change our course. It may very well be our last chance to do so.

Suns are and will be a young team....They are not looking for Carmelo Anthony as the answer to a star player...If the Suns get lucky in the draft do you really think that they want Parker or Wiggins having to play on a team with Melo as their leader.........Of course if we can 2 first round draft picks for Melo/Shump and salaries that expire we should do it in a hearbeat,,,,,,Nobody wants Melo unless they jabe another star that can handle him...

Apparently you didn't read and comprehend well. The whole reason of them making a trade right now for a star is to make the playoffs. They're not really trying to win the Lottery. The odds of them winning it, where they would likely end up not making a trade is slim because they have a good enough team to not suck really bad.

THEY WANT TO WIN NOW!!!!!

Bledsoe
Shumpert
Melo
Morris
Plumlee

That team should be capable of making the playoffs as they currently sit 13-9(6th seed)

I am sorry let me be more clear. I do NOT think Carmelo Anthony is the Star player that the Suns are looking for. Melo does not act as a leader and on a young upcoming team this is not the star the suns want......I apologize if this does not agree with your statement.

We shouldn't trade Shumpert at all. Let's keep all our young guys. We want picks because we want young guys, I don't want there to be a cycle of sending them for picks for other young guys. I want to add youth to the ones we already have, whom have potential, and Shumpert has a load of it.

This post is 100% bias, no facts.

Give your sources that "Nobody wants Melo"

Melo is averaging about 26 points per game and 10 rebounds per game, with almost 3 assist(should be 4-5 because he's been passing it a lot to Felton and Smith all year long but they haven't made shots) 1.1 steals and 0.5 blocks per game.

Melo is as big as a star you're going to get in the NBA.

Stop acting like theres 15 players out there better than him, because they are not. You cannot name them, so don't waste our time with these kind of post.

We need a more productive way of thinking, we get it you don't like Anthony...but why do we have to read the same thing every time?

The thing you're most wrong about is you're acting like Wiggins and Parker are better than Anthony.

Anthony as a Freshman at da 'Cuse averaged

10.0 rebounds per game

Until Wiggins and Parker do that, then you can speak of them in the same sentence as Melo.
Which is funny because Wiggins right now looks like Rudy Gay and Parker looks like Carmelo Anthony Lite.

Why would Suns pass up on the real thing just to have their team waiting for those two guys to take 2-3 years to become all stars and thats if they become all stars and avoid injuries.

Suns already have a great team now. Why wait till 2018 to be good?

Miami Heat is about to break up soon since Bosh and Wade will be passed their prime next season and a lot of contracts expire.
Duncan and Ginobili are bound to retire soon if Spurs dont win a championship.
Only teams Suns have to worry about are Indiana, Portland, Thunder, Clippers and Warriors.

Phoenix is 13-9, 2nd in the Pacific Division behind the fraudulent Clippers who rely on CP3 for everything.

Suns have everything the Knicks don't have.

Shooting.

Rebounders.

Put Melo on that team and they'll be the top team in the Pacific division for 3-4 years under Melo.

You gotta hold that Skis, these are the facts.

1. Okafor has a HUGE expiring contract that will help us clear a lot of cap space
2. Phoenix has an abundance of draft picks so we can rebuild and start this team over

Because they are rookies is the reason to be patient. Meanwhile being patient with players who have been in the league 12yrs and want $30mil/yr naaaaaahhhhh?..

I'm okay adding Shumpert hence asking for Dragic and expanding the deal. Remember they covet him. They have enough to compensate for the loss of Shumpert. We have to stop overrating Shumpert's value. Goodness gracious he shot like 3 air balls yesterday against the Celtics. He's not that good.

We block the F up.
Completely.
I love Iman Shumpert, but for the price of a bunch of expiring contracts that will put us under the cap for 2014 and 2015 and the potential to have the #1 pick in 2014, it'll speed up our rebuilding process.

Lakers new squad

PG - Farmer/Felton/Lucas
SG - Shumpert/Young
SF - Kobe/Johnson/Henry
PF - Stoudemire/Shawne Williams
C - Chandler/Sacre

This is a kind of team that would work well under D'Antoni...not too many guys demanding the ball from Kobe and they get a young SG in Shumpert and upgrade at center with Chandler.

Utah will look like

PG - Burke/Garrett
SG - Hayward/Burks
SF - Jefferson/Rush
PF - Bargnani/Harris
C - Favors/Kanter/Grobert

Utah has enough young players as it is (Burke, Hayward, Favors, Kanter, Grobert) Kanter has been a disappointment and Jazz have no shooters besides Hayward at the moment. They have other draft picks to get a good player so they don't lose anything and Bargnani will upgrade their offense because they don't have a big man they can run the pick and roll with since Favors and Kanter aren't experienced in that style, they're more iso big men types, Favors being closer to pick and roll play but not a strong mid range jumper.

The Knicks.

PG - Nash/Blake/Prigioni
SG -
Hardaway Jr./JR Smith/Murray
SF -
World Peace/Gerald G./Marvin W.
PF -
Gasol/Hill/Frye
C -
Kaman/Okafor/Len

Knicks will have an entire roster expiring contracts except JR. Smith which isn't even that large of a contract.

Knicks will have Len and Tim Hardaway Jr as their prospects along with Draft picks in the future to build off of with the addition of

Utah's 2014 first rounder
Washington's 2014 first rounder
Phoenix's 2014 first rounder
Minnesota's 2014 first rounder

along with future first from the Lakers.

Knicks will acquire so many veterans that this team may very well compete, play together to the level that Denver won't get our first round pick.

Knicks can sign these veterans to a vet min in 2014 to have a solid team but still be under the cap.

To blow up this sh*t team to have a fresh start, new young players and hope for the future...you have to give up everything to invest in a future because we have nothing right now.

Slow it down on trade checker overdosing…..First of all those multi-player(15-20) multi-team trades rarely if ever happen. Second of all this is very serious for us to contemplate, as Dec 15th approaches in a matter of hours.

What's so depressing is this….considering what Phx currently has and where we're so inept at.

Take a look at these stats lines below…look at them long and hard….blink as many times as it takes….if your jaw drops that's okay….if you shake your head Scooby Doo style go ahead

It's just a projection at what the Knicks can aim for, I'm theorizing. We definitely need to move Carmelo at Phoenix whatever the price may be. A future first and expiring contracts + Len is enough for me, how about you?

Let Phoenix be a beast with their deep front court and god-like backcourt, I just hope we can finally move on to the future and stop this madness. I would hate for the Knicks to pass on this opportunity.

After reading the rest of McDonough's comments he gave the profile of what they're looking for. Sounds like it's Blake Griffin/Kevin Love. He said a player who's in his mid 20s and they can see being a Sun for yrs to come.

We still should blow their phone up but man it's going to be hard trying to trade Melo. Our brain trust doesn't want to trade him either which is so asinine.

Minnesota's 2014 first round pick
Lakers 2016 and 2018 first round pick that Phoenix currently owns
Washington's 2014 First round pick
Phoenix 2014 First round pick

Most of these draft picks won't be lottery so the Knicks will need to have many just to build a team of solid players.

Of course my thoughts are bias no different then yours....
Metro I said in the past and will repeat....I do not think teams after seeing Melo only twice getting out of the first round of players, at age 30 , unable to finish games, and he himself admitting his way of taking so many shots is NOT a player the Suns want to pay a max salary to.......If Melo is willing to take less money I think alot of teams would take him..............I hope I am wrong and the suns take Melo.........

Your undeniable love in Melo's game as an all around all star is a bit over the top for me.,....

Listen 90% of the people on this board wanted JR and actually beleived we got him cheap despite no team offering him a deal.....I guess if and when Melo tests free agency we will see that either I am right and he is NOT offered a max contract or you are right and MAX contract is offered...u agree with that ?

Let us not stand on ceremony, Mr. Skisloper.

22.2 points per game
10.0 rebounds per game
2.2 assist per game
1.6 steals per game
1.0 blocks per game

He led Syracuse as a LEADER to a championship.

This is one of the greatest seasons by any Freshman in NCAA history.

Shooting.
Point guards.
Defense.
Big men who can hit 3's.
Rebounders.

Put Melo on that team and they'll be the top team in the Pacific division for 3-4 years under Melo.

You gotta hold that Skis, these are the facts.

1. Okafor has a HUGE expiring contract that will help us clear a lot of cap space
2. Phoenix has an abundance of draft picks so we can rebuild and start this team over
3. Phoenix can definitely upgrade in talent without giving up their main core players (Bledsoe, Dragic, Plumlee, the Morris bros)

Trade scenario 1.

So Metro would u rather enter the season with Wiggins possibly for the next 14 years or a 31 year old Melo ???

Dude u keep shoving Melos stats over and over....he will be 32 years old....

Metro see not so bias...GM says what I say.

Maybe the Clippers Trade Collison and Griffin to us for Melo .......Clippers could use Melo and with Paul and Rivers leading Melo will be in a perfect situation.....We take Griffin and trade him to the Suns for 3 first rounders and some expiring contyracts.....

Clippers have Melo in a win now scenario
Suns have Griffin who they want...
Knicks have expiring contracts and 3 first rounders....

And Metro its not about who is best today.......Whether Wiggins or Parker would be as good or Melo or better is not my concern....They are young players that we can build around....The goal is to win an NBA championship for the Knicks not Melo.......In our, the knicks current state we can never win with Melo....
