Fire D'Antoni!

Dantoni is a good coach and when he can get a few more key pieces in place, you will see how this team can be a contender. There is no coach, alive or dead, that could make this team any better the way it is now. The Knicks have a few pieces in place but they need help and 2 or 3 key players will right this ship!!

That's a bold statement and absolutely untrue. Your putting Danblowme too high up on the pedestal. I'd say he's a good overrated coach but not great or in the elite category at all.

Over seven seasons as an NBA head coach, D'Antoni owns a career record of 299-222 (.574), including 253-136 (.650) in five years with Phoenix. The NBA's Coach of the Year in 2004-05, he is the third-winningest coach in Suns franchise history (253), trailing only John MacLeod (579) and the late Cotton Fitzsimmons (341). His .650 winning percentage is second in Suns history to Paul Westphal's .685. Mike's first victory of the 2009-10 season will enable him to become the 54th head coach in NBA history to amass 300 career wins.

In his four full seasons as Suns headmaster (2004-05 through 2007-08), the Suns won 50-plus games each year, including two 60-plus-win campaigns (62-20 in 2004-05, 61-21 in 2006-07). D'Antoni's Suns won three straight Pacific Division crowns (2005 through 2007) and advanced to the Western Conference Finals twice (2005 and 2006).

D'Antoni's up-tempo offense enabled the Suns to lead the NBA in scoring for three consecutive years (2004-05 through 2006-07). In 2004-05, D'Antoni's Suns averaged 110.4 points, increased their win total from 29 to 62, and registered a 16.2-point-per-game increase (from 94.2), the biggest single-season jump for any NBA team since the advent of the shot clock in 1954-55. The Suns averaged better than 110 points in three of D'Antoni's four full seasons at the helm.

D'Antoni was the NBA's Coach of the Year in 2004-05, as the Suns became the second of three teams in NBA history (1979-80 Celtics, 2007-08 Celtics) to follow a 50-loss season with a 60-win campaign. With the Suns, he was honored four times as NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month, and earned head coaching honors at NBA All-Star 2007 in Las Vegas, guiding the West to a 153-132 victory. D'Antoni was named Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager of the Suns on Mar. 10, 2006.

I would say he is an elite coach and his young career has been marked with success. He took the suns from 50 losses to +60 wins when he took over. Earned coach of the year and had them playing elite ball his entire time as coach. He has the Knicks scoring higher than anytime since 1989! No, it's clear Dant is a great coach and you all will come around once we start going deep into the playoffs.

Nobody is saying Dantoni isnt a good coach, he just isnt the coach for the Knicks.
The team that hires Dantoni have to trade all their roster for Dantoni type players LOL ha ha ha ha

We could have rebuilt around our young players with the right headcoach (Rick Carlisle) and assistant coach (Patrick Ewing).
Could coach Ewing do something with the Curry & Zach tandem? if he had Brook Lopez & David Lee to work with u damn right we would've been the team to beat.
The Knicks has always been a playoff team without any injuries or Isiah Thomas calling any shots. The Knicks were a playoff team before Isiah and after Isiah. Isiah contributions were his 4 years of draft selections.

Could coach Ewing do something with the Curry & Zach tandem?
No coach could of made that tandem work as well as it looks on paper. Both players are one on one ball hogs. Remember how Curry excelled in Chicago... He had Chandler flanking him and Chandler was a defense first player while Curry was offense first; ying/yang.

We had 6 decent young players plus the 6th pick in the draft when we FIRED Isiah Thomas.
Who? Crawford, Richardson? Lee? Curry? Nate? Balkman? Randolph?
Actually I liked Randolph but not with Lee or Curry flanking him!! I have one for you... Think of Okafor and Randolph together!!! Now that's a tandem that could of dominated!
The problem the knicks had when Mike D took over was you had a whole team of the same type of players! No one complemented anyone, all just 1 on 1 type players. Crawford has found his nitch with Atlanta as a 6th man and, if you have seen my prior posts, that's the position that best suits him!!

Right now the Knicks have a nice core to expand on... They are 2-3 key players from being something very good in not great. Let Walsh and Mike D finish what they started...

Of course he'll get us in the playoffs, he has shown that he is capable of doing that. My problem is that nor he or his run-N-gun system is capable of winning it all. The lack of discipline on the court is something that has always been common amongst these fast paced teams (nelson's mavs, d'antoni's suns, nelson's warriors). The freedom that the SSOL style provides is a gift and a curse. Shitload of points, but no defense. The only reason we are not playing his fast pace style at the moment is because we lack the type of players d'antoni needs. But once he gets them, forget about playing Defense.

Mike D's strength has been making best with what he has.. but you do need talent and cohesion. Listen, we have watched many different coaches try to make something happen since VanGundy left and none have been successful. Larry Brown was a slow defensive coach and nothing... Donny, Lenny, Isiah all tanked!! You need talent from the player right up to the GM for success. We are so close... 1-2 years more, some key moves and we will be a serious contender!!

Definetely, under his wings almost every player in ny developed a lot, his coaching is not only about run & gun, he is very good facilitator at all, he squeeze players like a lemon and also control their character ( for example nate's lesson of humility ). Nevertheless to be objective I can't say that sometimes his decision seems quite ridicolous but they're so competitive... Everyone who do not accept d'antoni should be banned for a week :teeth:

Rotation player
I have to admitt

I have to admitt, I was a D'Antoni hater. especially watching there lack of defense, last year and the begining of this year. That said I am surprised and I guess eating my words to see the knicks defense has improved this year. So kudos to D'antoni.
Another thing I really like about him as someone mentioned, is the development of his players. Most coaches see a guy like Lee and want him to do what he's good at and only what he's good at, not to step out of your strong suit and not to do more then you are suppose to. for lee that'd be being in the paint rebounding, posting up and short range shots. But D'Antoni encourages Lee to expand his game, his range and challenges him to go beyond his current skill set and become a complete player. Think about it our center is shooting from just inside the arch. Not since patrick ewing have we had a center with a decent mid range game. Lee is no ewing, but he's been awesome in different ways. Look what coach has done for Chandler, Gallinari and Jarred Jefferies of all people. their strengths have been emphasized and they are developing their short comings
He's positive, the players like him. He's doing the impossible right now. This knicks team lacks a legitt superstar. I mean Lee is on his way, but he's not unstopable, like a kobe, lebron and wade. I really like chandler and gallinari, but again they are not superstars, they'd make a great surrounding cast. How many games did they lose because they got tight at the end of the game. A key player would change that. A go to guy that will get a shot off. hate to say it, kind of like a crawford, always able to break free and get a decent shot, but with more skill and consistency. such as wade, lebron, kobe and that caliber player.

thridly I really like his rotation. It is obvious you can work your way in or out of this rotation, thus focusing erratic nate, giving the young guys motivation to be ready, because they can go in, knock'em dead and never be benched again. (You can develope in practices as a rookie, 4 on 4's your playing against NBA players), putting a struggling larry hughes in check, he better make the most of his next chance and I'm sure he knows it.
So I guess as long as they continue to focus on defense and the games are competetive, I am a converted D'Antoni supporter.

I never wanted Dyke Manphony as our head coach. I still would have preferred Patrick Ewing. Brook Lopez would be on the Knicks right now, had the Knicks given Ewing the coaching position.

People who say Ewing has no coaching experience must not have seen Ewing coaching on the Magic bench, while they were in the 2009 NBA finals.

Or when the Magic were in the semi-finals, in 2008.

Or when the Rockets were in the playoffs with a 50+ win season, with Ewing on the bench coaching.

It is not coincidence that Dwight Howard and Yao Ming improved their game under Ewing.

His title was "assistant" but he was doing nothing more then helping the bigs... geez

The fact that you would rather have D'Antoni coach over a Knick All Star, a 50 greatest player, a guy who made the NBA finals with the Knicks, and a guy who coached a team to the Finals shows how much of a fan you are.

i personall think ewing would not have been the right choice. to much pressure, if he fails, we will start booing and calling to fire him. but how can we do that to the best player that wore a knicks jersey? it would just be an awkward situation for knicks fans and for ewing. i want ewing to be a head coach and be succesful, just somewhere else so we and him wouldnt have to go through something like that

ewing is one of the best big man coaches in the league. i'd have him come to NY again, but not as the head coach.

Get the f*(k out this thread. You're defending someone who badmouthed Ewing, arguably the greatest player in Knick history? You're not a knick fan. You're a Dicksmoking fan.

You lose again.

Your attempts at fame are very weak.

Your jealousy shows more and more, as you continue to post about your admiration for D'Antoni's dick.

Let's talk Math, for a second. What does Smokesdicks like best about D'Antoni's dick in his mouth? The length or the width?

Let's take a look at the facts?
1. I have more friends than you.
2. I have more rep power than you.
3. I have better skin than you. You're more pale than WWE'S Sheamus, and I'm tan and highly attractive.
4. You have some of the worst ancestry; European ancestry.
I have caribbean and African ancestry.
5. You smoke dicks for a living. I go to college, do internships at hospitals, go outside, talk with friends and family. You stay home and stay bleeding from dat monkey of yours that you call a vagina.
6. I have respect from people BOTH on this site AND in real life.
You have respect from yourself and lurkers that are really YOU in disguise.
7. You smoke dicks for a living. Did I mention that already?
8. PROOF THAT SMOKESDICKS IS PREGNANT WITH D'ANTONI'S TRIPLETS.

Wait, I thought I was on your ignore list? Oh I guess you can't stop thinking about me so you had to take me off  poor bastard.

You came back by popular demand? What was OG that desperate for some of your pathetic backup? Haha god you're so sad it hurts.

When did I become a D'antoni supporter exactly? Again you're making stuff up because it suits you to typecast me into the role of the people you hate, but I am not a fan of Coach D so I don't really know where you get that from. I don't like him nor dislike him, go figure.

I didn't defend anyone, was laughing at your pathetic loss to a guy on his first post. The guy never badmouthed Ewing either, just said he wouldn't prefer him over D'antoni. Not sure why you would want someone with no headcoaching experience over a proven winning coach but there you go, no one considers you a genius so I'm not surprised.

I'd love Ewing coaching here, as an assistant/bigman/defensive coach, but not as a head coach over D'antoni no.

Well done at getting +1 rep power over me, it only took you 1500 posts more than me to get there, let's see how much rep I have after another 1500 posts  Oh and weren't you one of the guys talking about how rep wasn't important some time back? I know it was one of your merry band of circlejerkers... Hypocritical as always.

Why do you assume I'm European, or white? You have no idea who I am or where I'm from, again, making stuff up.

If you can actually respond to this post with some real arguments and not your usual misquoting, hypocritical made-up bullshit maybe someone outside your "friends" on this forum would actually respect what you had to say, until then I'll keep on destroying you in every thread.

Lay down bitch!

Yes, because someone is better than someone else strictly be the color of their skin and their ancestry...racist much?

Damn, I almost feel bad for smokesdicks. D'Antoni f*(ked her brains out so hard, she forgot that Patrick Ewing was coach on an NBA team that made the NBA Finals, and D'Antoni has never coached an NBA team to the NBA finals.

But I have some remorse. I mean, look at all of the crazy positions D'Antoni forces smokesdicks to try out?
