Who do you want the Knicks FO to sign to complete the roster?

I think a lot of guys aren't willing to end up without a chair at the end of the song. Meaning, even though money is drying up, the veterans are going to want to sign with a contender before its too late.

It's just the waiting game period right now.

But then we run into the problem with minutes. Who's minutes do you cut down?

Plus I think at this point we just need a role player, really Jared Jefferies and Jorts would've been great here, Kenyon Martin is almost too much.

Jermaine Oneal
Chris Anderson
Renaldo Balkman

Chris Anderson is the most intriguing because of his energy

I think we should stay away from JO, his two seasons in Boston were filled with injury and he is a real chance of missing plenty of playing time. If we can't get Martin I'd love a bit of youth or someone not completely past their prime.

Last spot went to Chris Smith (JR's brother) Dude looks like a scrub to me but we probably just did it as a thank you to JR for him re-signing I guess.

I think Chris Smith will be on the training camp roster. He is not guaranteed. He'll get paid for as long as he's with the team. He won't be one of the 15 on the opening day roster. there will probably be another 4-5 guys signed on make good deals similar to Chris Smith's deal.

I can't see even a scrub team throwing any considerable amount of money at a 34 year old player injury prone. Maybe he comes to us after waiting awhile and realizing he's not gonna get what he's looking for.

Not sure if anyone's talked about him yet but I just noticed that DJ White is available. I'd jump all over this guy right now if I'm the Knicks. He's been around for a few yrs now -- has NBA experience with 2 clubs, the Thunder & the Bobcats. Drafted 29th overall in '08 by Detroit...Still only 25 yrs old (26 this September). I like his game -- 6'9" somewhere between 230-240 lbs, looks very long, hits the glass hard, runs the court well & he's a very good shooter from mid-range. This guy stood out in every game we played against Charlotte last yr, including the game at the Garden where we lost to these guys. The Bobcats played us tough last year for the most part and this guy was a big reason why. Seemed like he hit every shot he put up against us. Very effective offensively... When he gets the minutes, he produces. Had a big senior yr at Indiana -- in 33.5 mins, 17.5 ppg, over 60% FG, 10.3 rpg and 1.6 blks. Showed nice shot-blocking ability all 4 yrs in college in fact. We shouldn't fool around here -- offer this guy a contract and guarantee him rotation minutes. See if he bites...He could be that one more big that can come in off the bench and continue to supply offense at the PF position while Amar'e sits or God forbid ever went down.. I think that's the last element this team needs to add right now -- one more reserve big that can score... He'd be perfect on a vet minimum contract. Perfect addition..We'd be damn lucky to get him for that amount -- I think he's worth more than that. Pick up the phone and let's find out..Dude's a player.

I really like DJ White a lot. I can't believe I didn't consider him sooner...If you look at all the average to above average 'role player' type PFs around the league ---- guys like Brandon Bass, Chris Wilcox, Kris Humphries, Taj Gibson, Anderson Varejao, Samardo Samuels, Jason Maxiell, Carl Landry, David West, Jordan Hill, Mo Speights, Darrell Arthur, Udonis Haslem, Drew Gooden, Nick Collison, Glen Davis, Earl Clark, Kyle O'Quinn, Markieff Morris, JJ Hickson, Jared Jeffries, Chuck Hayes, Jason Thompson, DeJuan Blair, Amir Johnson, Paul Millsap, Trevor Booker, Craig Smith --- I think White's right there with all these guys. You can make a good case that he's at least as good as any of these players. Better than most of 'em if you ask me..

Now some of these guys make very good money which is why I'm not sure if White could be had for the vet minimum but it wouldn't stop me from asking. Maybe if we came with an honest offer of a 1-yr vet minimum contract with a promise of regular rotation mins and maybe a handshake under the table to re-up him at a better deal when the time came, he might accept those terms. Playing in meaningful games for a NY Knick team that's finally turned the corner and expected to do some nice things, at MSG--the Mecca, has got to be better than going back to the Bobcats, no? Hopefully we've reached out to this guy already or have plans to do so -- I think he'd be perfect here. Just make a solid pitch and even if it's rejected -- maintain the interest and keep up communications with White & his agent. White may be willing to hold out for now but as training camp approaches and he continues to not get the offers he might be looking for, maybe we can get him a few weeks from now at our price. I'd reach out and start having dialogue now though...Gimmie a PF like White that can contribute on both ends and on the glass and maybe 1 more young, athletic wing (I'm tellin' ya, former Arizona Wildcat Jamelle Horne would be great for us) and I'm ready to go to war with this club. Everything else seems to have fallen in place. We get this guy, we could reduce Amar'e's minutes during the season (maybe even give him blocks of games off at a time in fact) and keep him fresh for the playoffs. I think STAT's gonna have a big bounce-back season, but he has broken down the last couple of years now -- keeping him fresh should be a top priority. Adding White would allow us to accomplish this. As good as STAT is, I don't even know if we'd lose all that much having White in for Stoudemire for stretches. That's how effective I think White could be here. He's a skilled, underrated & very efficient basketball player.

DJ White's career D-League numbers btw (I believe all while with the Thunder) --- 16 games (15 starts), 36.2 mins, 19.5 ppg on 59.1% FG, 86.7% FT, 9.6 rpg, 1.4 blks. Those numbers are very solid. This guy's ready for a much bigger role in the NBA if you ask me. The numbers don't lie and he passes the eye test with flying colors. Go get 'em, Glen!

BALL DON'T LIE
Birdman? Anyone? I liked him in 2009 when Denver made a run to the WCF, not sure how he plays now though..

Open to the vets min, check
Defensive player, check
More tats than JR Smith, check
Former drug addict, check
Under investigation for child pornography, check!

Looks like a Knickerbocker to me. :smokin:

A source close to unrestricted free agent Chris Andersen said the power forward is open to signing for the veteran's minimum. That's all the Knicks can offer, and they could use a seasoned backup for Amare Stoudemire who can score inside, rebound and block shots.

There's no word yet if Andersen, 34, has been in talks with the Knicks, who don't comment publicly on any free agents. But his former high school coach, Rob Stewart, said that Andersen would love the opportunity to play in New York. He enjoys the city and knows Carmelo Anthony well from his Denver days, and he's very close with J.R. Smith, also a former Nugget. Stewart said a few teams have already contacted Andersen, but he didn't want to say who out of respect to the power forward's agent, Steven Heumann.

On that note, it's worth noting that Andersen is a client of CAA, which also represents five Knicks: coach Mike Woodson, Anthony, Smith, his younger brother, Chris, and new acquisition Ronnie Brewer.

While the Knicks' roster stands at 15 -- the most players a team can have come opening night -- they could add Andersen right now to their books. That's because Chris Smith's contract is partially guaranteed, which means, in this case, he's only signed for training camp. In technical terms, Smith is not an NBA player yet. The Knicks will likely release him before the season starts, and then assign his rights to their D-League team, the Erie BayHawks.

I would love the Birdman here....He is a good rebounder and plays defense plus he has a high motor

He would be the 3rd string Center

The thing is if he is more of a need than Andray Blatche who is a scoring PF
