Simply pick who'd you rather keep

Iman Shumpert or Jeremy Lin

JR Smith or Steve Novak

Josh Harrellson or Jerome Jordan

My answers

Shumpert- all around player, legit potential to be a top 5 Guard in 2-3 more years. Has legit chemistry with our Big 3

JR Smith- Novak is more consistent but JR has game changing ability. Offensively and sometimes Defensively he is no slouch. When he's hot he's HOT, muy caliente

Jerome Jordan- His upside as a defensive back up 5 is through the roof. He needs to be Tyson's shadow all off-season, that will one help his growth and 2 give us a guy who can be a trade asset or potential replacement down the line

Shump over Lin for defensive reasons. Shump will improve his offensive game but I doubt Lin will ever be a lock down defender.

Smith vs Novak is tough because its hard to replace what both of them bring off the bench. One player explosive and the other a lock on 3pt shooter. Gun to my head I guess I choose JR, but reluctantly.

JJ over Jorts since there's really nothing special about Jorts. He can be easily replaced. We all know how rare decent 7 footers are. Plus I agree with you on having him shadow TC.

By the look of this thread, you're seriously getting ready to see some of theses guys go huh...

i just hope we make a good enough run this season , because if some of these players leave chances are our roster next season won't be as good as this one, with all the expiring contracts that we have :\

Shumpert>>>Lin

Im not fully sold on the Linsanity, in time he will be a well polished PG but if i had to pick right now im keeping shumpert. The way this team is built Lin is not mandatory. Throw in a vet PG like Andre Miller, jason kidd or nash and we would be just fine. I feel Shumpert just brings more to the table. He can put on a show offensively and defensively, his Rebounding is underrated and his FT shooting is above good, he can also cover 3 positions on the floor, and he's only 21. Im not saying Shump has more of a chance to be a star in this league than Lin, because both have potential to be stars, but ill take defense first.

JR smith>>>>Novak

run novak off the 3 point line and he is close to useless, i love novak but there are other 3 point specialist in this league maybe not as good as novak but anyway, Jr is automatic points off the bench he's young, athletic and can drop 20+ any given night, his defense is very underrated as well.

Jerome>>>>Jorts

Jerome may not ever become a dominant center like the bynums and howards, but if he keeps working at it he can become a reliable center. If he continues to work hard i can see him maybe becoming javele MCgee type center.

Jorts is just a hustle guy who'll grab you a few rebs and give you some hard fouls, maybe knock down a jumper or 2. I dont really see him becoming anything special.

Shumpert is playing near elite level defense as a rookie, and has shown he can be trust to hit a big shot.

JR only because he can do more than just score.

Jordan and Jorts are bums.

If STAT and Melo sacrifice some money we can sign everyone to nice deals, we know Dolan can spend money without bird rights its hard

We can easily replace the guys we have around our Big 3(maybe not Shumpert and slightly hard to find a JR type and a dead on 3 guy like Novak but those guys are out there)

We just dont have a pick in what is a deep draft

The one I'm really torn on is losing JR Smith, him and Melo have that LeBron/Wade, KD/Westbrook type relationship/chemistry and Woodson is helping JR become more complete, I'd give him the MLE without hesitation

Yea I would rather give him the MLE over Lin, but business-wise it's much more worth it for the franchise to keep Lin with that MLE.
One thing's for sure, its gonna be an interesting off-season.. because its not only about the players, but nobody knows what management plans regarding Woodson.
We have something good going on, I believe Grunwald can make the best out of the situation, and only Dolan will be able to fu*k it up.

I totally disagree .....I would give the MLE to LIN.....We need a starting PG and Lin is it.......But to answer the thread I would take Shump over Lin.....

JR is gone.....

If Woodson is our coach then Lin is not the answer at point

If you notice Woodson really limited Lin's PT since he took over, Lin has to have the ball in his hands and Melo doesn't play well off of him. We need a Chauncey Billups type to be successful in all honesty

Basketball Wise- Move Lin for pick and/or vet PG

Business Wise- Keep Lin and live off of the money he brings to a Franchise

since Billups is done....what PG do u think would work in Woodsons offense or Melo's offense..

Not ready to do this. In my world we can afford to keep them all because amare and Melo re structure to keep team in tact

stat and melo cannot sacrifice money. cba does not allow contract restructuring

melo and amare CANNOT restructure, even if they wanted to they are not allowed according to cba.

Melo and STAT per CBA can restructure

Player contracts can be renegotiated downward in extensions, as long as the player?s salary does not decrease by more than 40 percent. Previously, renegotiations could only increase a player?s salary. This could provide another key avenue for teams to maintain roster flexibility and add players with space created by restructuring existing contracts, similar to the NFL.

I guess guys dont do their research

As for a PG, I'd love to get Randy Foye, we dont need a playmaking PG we need a solid floor general, Foye is a combo guard but has Chauncey-like potential for us especially being able to play off of Melo, he can be a 16 and 6 guy for us

nah its cool the new CBA added that it wasn't in the old one, but yeah if Melo/STAT/Chandler all care about winning Grunweld should present this too them, maybe have Dolan give them roster bonuses so they can make up the difference, we need to keep this core together, the problem the last few years has been the lack of continuity and cohesiveness with the roster by the looks of it everyone loves playing with eachother and they love Woodson

yeh just found out that in new cba was added that they can reneg contract for less amount per season. Before it was only renegotiate for more money. Honestly though, I seriously doubt many players would be willing to renegotiate and cant really blame em. I would be happy if melo and stat renegotiate chandler isnt as bad.

Football players only do it because it guarantee's them more money, Basketball players would need some incentive like I said a roster bonus, workout bonus, more incentives something to make them wanna take less money for more years, only guy I can see doing it in the league is Kevin Durant so James Harden and Serge Ibaka can stay in OKC

I'd basically try to keep Shumpert, Lin and Smith.

Out of Novak, Fields, Walker, Baron, Jorts and Jordan, I think we could afford to lose them a lot more comparatively with the above 3.

We should never have extended Douglas' contract. That was a bum move, and we could have ponied up that $2M+ to Novak. An absolute waste. Douglas is currently earning approx $570k less than JR Smith to be a para-olympian.
