Game Thread: Boston Celtics at New York Knicks - 5/16/21 1PM [Game #72]

Sorry Rady, too excited to wait for your game thread. Feel free to replace with one of your better game threads if you?d like.

Huge last game of the season. If we win, we?re the 4th seed in the East. If we lose, we?re probably the 6th seed.

As of about an hour ago, it has been reported that the following Celtics are out:
Jayson Tatum
Evan Fournier
Kemba Walker
Tristam Thompson
Marcus Smart
Rob Williams
Jaylen Brown (out long-term)

Celtics are playing for nothing except to ruin our day. We?re going against a Boston skeleton crew focused instead on their upcoming play-in game.

Ultimate trap game! Let?s just get it done. No fooling around and letting them make a game of it.

First time hearing the news about who will play for the Celts after posting about the Celts having nothing to gain from winning or losing today and hoping Stevens would rest Tatum and Kemba. No way the Knicks lose this game today, I’d expect by halftime we may have a 20 pt lead and have this game won in a blowout by the 3rd.

Yeah, news broke that Celtics were sitting their top 7 players about an hour ago.

Honestly, as a Knicks fan, I know this is an opportunity to really mess things up. I hope our players still approach this game the same they would if Celtics were fully stocked. We almost lost that game to Milwaukee?s reserves earlier this season. No messing around. Just get the win.

My guess is Stevens rolls out Pritchard, Nesmith, GWill, Semi and Jabari or Kornet as his starters. Knicks should beat that team handily, if they don’t this game may go down as the worst choke job in team history.

We have like 4-5 days off coming, so I expect we go all out and play hard all game to get out work in.

It?s about to be official. RJ one of only 5 players in the NBA to start every game this season for his team.

Knicks with the early 13 to 8. The hope here is that when the Celtics turn to their 4th string bench, our 2nd unit will blow this game open.

Stevens went with Langford and not Nesmith. Jabari not getting any time with Stevens, thats what you get for saying the NBA pays you if you score not play D like he said a few years ago.

We?re playing like we expect Boston to just punt the ball into the stands on offense. No reason they should be scoring this easily against us.

Marc Berman just tweeted that, and wondered if Thibbs will play him heavy minutes today to try to snap him out of his ?funk? (which, to me, has lasted his entire career).

This is starting to looonlike that game when MIL sat their top 7 guys.

These reserves for BOS won?t hand us the victory. They would love nothing more than to steal this game.

If we let them hang around, as pressure mounts, well... all it takes is 4 awful EP minutes in the third and we are chasing these cats.
