Q&A: Chris Childs talks Kobe Bryant, ?90 Knicks, and current team

Staff member
Q: You were very well liked by the Knicks? fans and the media, too. We?ve seen players not take too kindly to the pressures and the bright lights a place like the Big Apple comes with. What was playing in New York like for you?

A: It was a dream come true. Even though I came from California, I was a Philadelphia and New York fan. When I got the opportunity to go to the Mecca of all sports, it was a dream come true. Walt ?Clyde? Frazier was my favorite player. I liked Earl ?The Pearl? Monroe! Getting to play on that same floor was very special. I played with great teammates, coaches, and trainers. It was a special time. To experience all that and make it to The Finals like we did (in 1999), I felt blessed, especially coming from the CBA.
