We have great bench depth, but they were injured.... so basically you are playing your bench as starters..... If Thibs is starting Brunson, Randle, OG, Mitch and Divo, for sure Hart, I-Hart, Duce and Boggi will play, this is your 9 man rotation.....

What happens to Precious and Sims and Burks??
Team is weak at scoring from center, PF if Randle is on the bench and not playing Precious.

Brunson made himself a superstar, one of the best PGs in the league, named to the ALL NBA and was in the MVP arguments. he also made the knicks relevant and put them on the map along with Thibs.
if you look at the knicks team, except JR, they are bunch of second tier players, no star there. Thibs created this mentality that let everybody play much better and fight 48 minutes straight, something we didn't have since the 90s.
Brunson, embraced this mentality and embraced the role of a leader and let everybody gather around him. He is a fighter and a team player who makes everybody around him mentally better.
Why do i need to replace an All NBA player who represent the NY Knicks mentality and people love and embrace, by a guard who did little for his team and was eclipsed by Tray Yong??!!!
by the way, JB is top 10 assist leader in the playoffs....

Facts ....
Brunson did improve his (college teammates) Josh Hart and Donte's performance to co-exist with him in a lineup.
Although, last season I was thrilled at the arrival of Josh Hart's all-around hustle co-existing well in our bench lineup Dynamics ....
Our bench lineup having the new addition of Hart alongside of Quickley, Barrett, Obi, and Hartenstein took us on a 9 Game win streak outscoring every opponents bench. And Brunson caught a 6 game injury during our 7th win, and backup Quickley took the streak to 9 games being in the starter lineup.
Truth is .. Josh Hart and Donte were on their last legs as a bench role-player in the NBA.
Both players had to many inconsistent games with their previous teams, as FA they were only gonna get a one year contract.
I did not want to sign Donte in the offseason, because it meant we were gonna trade Quickley or Grimes who's talent level and NBA future are above Donte. Mikal yeah.

As for Murray, I wanted to trade Barrett for Murray to put in a backcourt rotation alongside Quickley, Grimes, and McBride. And select Jalen Williams in the 2022 draft.

This season, I was the only fan upset at (Green-Light) Brunson's 20 to 25 shot attempt, and 5 assist performance in each game of our first 30 games of the 2023-24 season.
It was as if Brunson forgot he had other scorers (Randle, Barrett, Quickley, and Grimes) on the team that makes their bread & butter from scoring.
PG Brunson taking the majority of shot attempts in one or three straight games o.k, but 30 straight games where the Knicks offense became one or two touches then shoot.
Do you think Barrett, Quickley, Grimes, or Randle mention Brunson's shot attempts in the locker room during those 30 games? Because a few games later we Traded Barrett & Quickley

First of all I didn’t mean to ruffle your feathers. Plus you never answered either question. The most important ‘championship’ not one word from you.
BTW, making someone “Mentally Better” isn’t improved production on the floor.
Dragon don’t take this personally.
If you followed the Hawks( I live in the ATL) and doesn’t seem like you do. You would know that Young is on the trading block not Murray. It is my hope that the Hawks follow their this year trade deadline decision to trade Murray. Trae Young is awful and most see it. Young to Spurs and they said they aren’t interested. That makes our chances at Murray much harder.

I’m not unhappy that Q and RJ are gone by no stretch of the imagination. Good Riddance!!
Brunson had made his college teammates better( if you can call that a good thing). I do like Hart out of the three.
If the real knowledgeable BB people are making this off season decisions.
Then Thib’s is gone.
Then Brunson is trade to HAWKS FOR MURRAY and give them pg to replace Young.
Then Donte is gone also maybe to the Hawks.
Trade for B. Ingram from the N.O.
I think we can J. Issac as a FA.
Maybe the Pistons might trade Ivey.

Brunson's doing a salary decrease to keep Hartenstein/OG Anunoby.
However, the Nova trio would have played on the next level having Quickley/Grimes/McBride in their postseason rotation rather than Burks & Bojan.

Keep Ingram inconsistent performance alongside Zion.

The Nova Trio put themselves in the Knicks starting lineup by the midseason games, plus controlled the performance of the Knicks for 40 to 48 minutes on the court in each of our midseason & postseason games.
Like it or not the Nova trio will be running the Knicks the next three seasons.

Hey Kiya, tell what is funny that you and I will be talking about this same thing for the next 3 seasons( so say You). Now I just speaking for myself don’t see how you aren’t very upset about Nova Knicks after getting rid of two bad apples(Q and RJ).

Heard Dragon talk about our current College culture… this is the NBA not NCAA.
All of this speaks to a Bigger problem within the organization.

Yes, J. Issac is inconsistent that is why I think we can get him. Think God N.O. think more of Zion than Ingram. That another win for us.
The gems in this is Murray and Ivey. Just think of that back court.
 
I think we need to applaud Thibbs for establishing the culture; and credit also goes to Leon for bringing in the right player. Mostly,
Tho, it starts with Brunson. When your best player buys into what the coach is selling… great!

Part of that mentality is going all out all of the time. Now we can fault Thibbs for having Randle in the game up 15 with 5 to go… but partly isn’t it responsibility of player understand the situation? Did Randle really need to drive hard and leap towards basket? He couldn’t stop and pull up for mid range?

Robinson and OG are ALWAYS hurt, so who to blame there?

My only beef with Thibbs was Game 6. After Hart injured himself, JB-Hary-IHart should’ve all sat and rested and saved it for Game 7. Maybe that little extra rest helps them. Maybe playing 40 minutes means McBride and Burks and Sims and Achiwa are a little better Game 7? Hard to tell a team to punt a game later in series on playoffs, but with it being on the road and game 7 a home game. Obviously, the way it went down didn’t work…

Now, going from bad to good is a lot easier than going from good to great. With all the free agents and stuff contractual going on this summer, going to be a huge summer.

The Villanova trio is the foundation. JB, Hart and DDV. I think they would like to keep OG & Ihart, but will they have the money to do so? You can only go so far for OG (think RJ type contract) bc of his injury history. He’s only 27, so you roll the dice… but if contract gets above 150 mil… they may pivot. What about Ihart? Will he take slightly less to stay here? Crazy, bc often teams can overpay to keep their own… but of course… not so for Knicks in this case.

Then what to do with Randle and Mitch? They like both and will be happy to retain both players, but if something presents itself… they may make a change. They won’t undersell either and they value both highly, but if thinks go south with OG/Ihart it may require some creativity.

Knicks have 2 first rounders and an early 2nd rounder. You say young players helping Indy…. Time for Knicks to find a rookie or two. Or, do they draft Bronny and lure LeBron?

With MIN flopping and Towns playing poorly, do they revisit Randle-KAt swap?

What about KD or Booker, are they available?

Brand Ingram or Zion?

I think they pass on Mitchell…

Could Bridges or D-Murray be had?

Are there a couple more role players they can dig up?

Knicks need a 6th man scorer and another closer….

Pieces are in place, contracts and cap on good shape, draft picks stocked and ready as ammo.

According to @SInow the Knicks are poised to offer Isaiah Hartenstein a 4 year 72.5 million dollar contract, just over 18 million a year.
 
If our team is healthy, then we have solid bench (which basically was starting in the playoffs).... adding one solid draft pick to complement them will be great if we can pull that off.
I really don't want them to trade JR, they guy is built for NY, him and Brunson will be too much offense to handle for most of the teams, both demanded double teaming.....
future is bright, as long as we stick to NY type players and we don't do crazy deals that break the chemistry...... will 2025 be the year?!
