Round 2: New York Knicks vs Indiana Pacers 3:30 pm 5/19/2024 [Game #7]

Can it win a championship?
Having HC Tibbs hell NO!
What is the coaches history when it comes to injuries?
Around 3 to 6 players a season.
What is the coaches history when it come to how far he can take a team?
First round of playoffs
What happens to Precious and Sims and Burks??
Burks retire, Precious & Sims will go to a team that will use their talent.
Team is weak at scoring from center, PF if Randle is on the bench and not playing Precious.
The Knicks players ONLY pass the ball to teammates on the perimeter, they don't know how to pass the ball to a teammate in the paint, or maybe they refuse to pass the ball down low in the paint.
In Game 1 vs the Pacers, Mitch Robinson got so mad and upset he came out the game, and never return to the game or the series. Why? Brunson threw a great alley-oop pass to Mitch who dunk the ball ran down court on defense refusing to slap Brunson hand and at the first opportunity to come out the game Mitch took to never return.
That was the 2nd alley-oop pass Brunson threw to Mitch since being on the Knicks for two seasons.

How many games have Obi Toppin only receive 4 to 8 minutes of playing time in a game throughout a season?
Randle have average 40 to 44 minutes of playing time a game since we had Fiz as our Knicks HC.
Randle's 40 minute games, season after season only increased the Randle-Haters fan club.

Precious Achuwa's dynamic performance kept our injury-prone Knicks team above .500 team playing all the midseason games replacing all our missing big men Mitch, Randle, OG, and Obi Toppin.
Plus Precious was in the Knicks rotation throughout the 14-2 January record.
Our Knicks played 13 postseason games ..
A healthy Precious only played 9 postseason games .. HC Thibs personally DNP a healthy Precious !!!

Welcome to the real world of Knicks fans.
we want a Championship or bust.
As good as the team did we are not a championship team.

I am pleased with where we are but we will have to see what the Bball minds have in store for us in the offseason.

yes Dark I was serious, If they git 3 Villanova players it makes me think they will get 4. Not saying I agree just saying it seems in line with their thinking,

I can't understand how can there be so much negativity when the team was on fire and has a lot of future!
Dragon do not take what I’m saying the wrong way. You are looking at the Knicks through ‘Rose-colored glasses’.

When was the last time you posted the word CHAMPIONSHIP?? This should be your and your team ultimate goal.

Are you just glad to have the Knicks make the playoffs?

You mentioned the Knicks current Culture… We( me, you and the other Knicks fans) have always had a CULTURE. You don’t have Real Knickerbocker running this team. The last time you had that was when Phil Jackson was in control. He was a Knick and the evil/cancer in this organization backstabbed him. Jealousy and envy kill off our chances of winning a championship. People think they are smarter than the person that has won the most championships. Since he left where are our Championships??

I’m the team worst critic and the Biggest fan. I don’t stand for incompetence and stupidity the organization. The team has one mission ‘Win a championship, period’!

Answer the hard questions to yourself about the Knicks… can you do that??
Start with the team mission and go from there!!

Hey Ski, I couldn’t have said it better in your post.

It is scary to think that they might sign another Nova player.

That is why I keep asking about the knowledgeable BB people. They are the only ones that can save us from the stupidity.

Wsup Dragon .. I wouldn't call it negativity, I'd call it more opinionated on how they would have run the Knicks to do better than what they did.
Our Knicks were supposed to sweep the Pacers! Not let the Celtics do our job.
After the Celtics whipped us (114-98) early in the season we hurried to make the OG trade.
For OG defense on Tatum/Brown.
The injury excuse was all good during the regular season ..
When two of our injured players came back a few games before the end of the regular season to help us become a 50 win team, plus a 2nd seed East team.
Our short 7 to 8 man rotation having two of those rotation players (Mitch & OG) coming back from a serious injury, both players were reinjured, plus Bojan was injured in Game 4 in the first round.

The Pacers had a lot guys that showed a impact on our short rotation, they practically played all their roster.
It was pretty cool to see a team with one star (Hali) and 9 to 10 guys that were treated pretty similarly with regard to both minutes and touches. Turner was almost always above 25 and got a lot of screening action but otherwise it was equal opportunity other then Hali. There combinations were also very random seeming before the trades. They would play different groups together all the time. I thought playing guys playing in unfamiliar combination often would hurt the team but it didn't seem to. The Pacers weren't a great team this year but they were an interesting team.
I think that most players need 20 minutes a night to perform consistently well.
Its very hard to not show a flaw or have a night where the bad clearly out weighs the good in 10-15 minutes.

I understand that we want Championship, I understand the frustration we have as Knicks fans, it is very hard to feel that the last time we were relevant was the 90s..... and it is painful to go to a sports shop and see jerseys of bucks, Lakers, Houston and other teams and never see a single Knicks jersey (internationally) cause nobody knows who the Knicks are..... I lived the pain..... BUT, i am seeing hope, I always wanted a team that is built slowly adding the right pieces..... I don't believe in the Lakers model where they buy big names hoping for good run like what we did with Amare and Melo era..... even if it is successful, it is short term thing.... I believe in franchise players, loyal, tough and fights for the team, their team.
I know it is rare these days with everybody focusing on the next pay cheque. but we still have some of these, like Curry, Giannis, Klay, Luca....... and hopefully Brunson and Julias.......
There are things to be improved no doubt, but we are in the best position since the 90s, we have young team with identity, we have tons of draft picks, we don't have aging superstar who is eating up the salary cap..... we were one win from reaching the conference finals with crippled roster .......
I am not saying I don't want to improve what we have, I am saying we can actually since more than 20 years, discuss championship! we dare to think of it......
For me, i like Tom Thibs, I like the grit culture he introduced, I like that the team is happy with him and they actually defend him. Can he be better, yes, sure, but is he bad coach? no, he is one of the best in the NBA.....
Pacers will have no chance if we were healthy, it would've been a sweep..... hell, if OG only was healthy we would've got them 4-1 or 4-2

@Dark, well, i am optimistic in general, and maybe I am seeing it in rosy glasses :) but i am just trying to enjoy what we have (which is very good in my opinion) while hoping for better going forward.....

All of us OleHead Knicks fans know we had a NBA Championship in 1999 ..
If Patrick Ewing would have played in the FINALS.
Todays, Patrick Ewing could never be an assistant on the Knicks coaching staff.
Especially, after demanding a trade in the 1999 offseason.

Today new NBA is so WEAK ..
The 2023-24 Knicks rotation of Mitch Rob, Randle, OG, Divo, Brunson,
6th Man Josh Hart vocal leadership, McBride, Bojan, Precious, and superman Hartenstein
Would have beat the Celtics in 6 games in ECF, and beat the Mavs in 6 games in the FINALS.
What happen? The Knicks need a new HC ASAP !!!
I don't see our roster ever being that deep again ..

Very few NBA HC prepared their coaching-staff and Players for 9 months of NBA b.ball in 2023-24 season.
It was more like the majority of NBA teams prepared their coaches/Players for 6 months of NBA ball as the teams kept getting weak and weaker going down the end of the stretch of the regular season games.

The Boston Celtics HC Joe Mazzulla did a well job at preparing coaching-staff and (10) players for rigged 9 months of NBA B.ball (KP is truly a injury-prone player).
The Dallas Mavs HC Jason Kidd has been a 9 months NBA player/coach for over a decade.
The Mavs coaching-staff and (11) players are condition to WIN a championship !!!

Dragon by all means try to be happy…. There are so few joys in life. Just know that reality will be there to bring you back to earth.

I can’t do the ‘rose - colored glasses’ to much of a realist.

Wsup Dragon .. I'm optimistic too. I was very optimistic about our four 23 yr old players Barrett, Quickley, Toppin, and Grimes co-existing experience another season to take the Knicks two all-stars Randle/Brunson to the ECF, and probably the FINALS this season, the same as the Miami Heats 2 stars Butler & Bam Adebayo's dynamic rotation did for them last year.

I am not optimistic about Thibs career at having a short rotation throughout the regular season to only go as far as the first round of the playoffs do to injuries as Bulls/Wolves/Knicks.
To many of us Knicks fans are giving HC Thibs the glory of Knicks success ..
When it was HC Mike Miller;s season & offseason work-out that had Randle come to training-camp an All-star?
It was assistant coach Mike Woodson 10 Man rotation of 2 unit lineups throughout the regular season that won HC Thibs the COY award! We all should know Thibs have always had a consistent 7 or 8 man rotation as a HC.
The next season no assistant-coach Mike Woodson on the staff, we just had Thibs coaching, and we couldn't make the Play-Ins, and Fans took it out on Randle.
It was our new PG Brunson & his Pops as assistant coach that got us Knicks pass the first round of the playoffs 2 seasons in a row.

We Knicks fans must be optimistic about our mystery 2024 offseason?
Our 2 Knicks all-stars Randle & Brunson did not talk or persuade our two dynamic rotation FA OG and IHart into signing an extension for the Knicks to be top contender teams the next 2 to 3 seasons.
It would've been nice to know the Knicks Cap space of 9 instead of 7 rotation players before Draft Night.
Hartenstein and OG are winning rotation players in our STARTER lineup, which Randle & Brunson had enough time to talk OG and Hartenstein into signing an extension before the season end.
We have a 24 & 25 draft pick .. what do we do with them?

I still think that Thibs didn't expand the rotation due to the dip in talent between the first 7 and the rest. let's see this season when he has healthy roster if he keeps playing 7 or extend it more to rest the team players.
as for RJ, Toppin, Quick and Grimes.... to be honest, with the exception of Quick, i will take our roster over them at any time. not only about talent, but style of play and all. I was a huge RJ fan, I think he is good player, but he was an odd fit with the group, maybe he will shine in Toronto with Quick. as for Toppin and Grimes, I don't regret letting them go at all.... they are good sometimes, but for me they are very limited ... at least for now. Let's see if they will start in another team or they will be bench warmers like all the other players the Knicks let go before...

We have a 24 & 25 draft pick .. what do we do with them?
Trade both picks to any team foolish enough to want them. They are basically worthless in a very weak draft.
Trade them for contracts that can some future picks two or three years from now.

Now if they can net us Murray or Ivey or Ingram or Wiseman or Issac…. Then by go for that.

No old wash up Superstars!!!
