Okay we all hate James (obvious), but how can you say a good GM would move on from Rose? Do you realize all the intangible things this guy brings to the game? You never ever see him slacking on defense and he's a vocal leader out on the court. Guys like him give the star players the proper attitude to have out on the court.
A players value is not strictly limited to his offensive production. If Rose played 20 min/gm he would give you some damn good 20 min. If Curry played post defense the way Rose does, he would be complete. Teams can always use a hard-nose player.
I don't know if you've been following IT's GM resume since he started, but he's drafted dome pretty good players for this league. If anything, he's a much better GM than he is a coach. Not following you Metro.
His performance level is poor. Watch the games and check the stats. Rose is very below average and isn't a guy you want as your back up PF and a guy as your vocal "leader". He's a nice guy, had a good history in San Antonio as an intangibles guy, but what he has done in San Antonio, he hasn't done in New York, those days are long gone. Malik has MADE a lot of stupid plays, especially on offense. Rose and Curry was AWFUL to watch during the Larry Brown era, I put myself through alot of pain and misery watching those two ruin our offense, making it all easy for the opposition.
IF? Where the hell were you when Rose started 35 games? Rose was a starter for the Knicks under Brown. Rose was by far the worst starting PF in the NBA at the time. His production? 37% FG on 4 points and 3 rebounds. Garbage. His intensity and level of performance? The lowest standard you can find the NBA.
Under Larry Brown, Rose was awful. Too slow to stay in front of his man, and too small to guard your average big in the paint. Offensively, he did nothing.
Under Isiah, he was less worse; but does that justify your theory that we actually need the guy? Lee can fill Rose's role easily, and it will give NEEDED minutes to Lee over Rose.
Would you rather take away 10-15 minutes from a developing determined big man like David Lee and give it to a pass his prime 6"5 PF like Malik Rose?
You guys need to understand Rose isn't at his Spurs level of play. He isn't a lock down defense, he isn't going to dominate the boards, and offensively, he's arguable the worst player on this team. So whats the use of him being here besides stealing minutes from Lee?
Allan Houston >>> Rose.
Isiah Thomas, a good GM? Let me just remind you of his history as the GM of the Knicks. I think you've gone missing the last 3-4 years and made a comeback, Isiah is far from a good gm, executive, and at any position in the front office.
