knicks sign D league D nichols to 10 day

We needed D.Nichols as our backup SG last season to come off the bench with Nate and Balkman to spread the court wide open for Curry, Zach, and Lee down low.
Crawful and Fred Jones had to be the worst SG in the league last season.

Nate and D.Nichols on the peremeter is just like the old Bulls Steve Kerr and Kuko comming into the game to spread coach Jax Tri-angle offense even wider.

Having Nate, D.Nichols, and Gallo.....peremeter 3-Ball shooting says one thing....if D.Nichols make it through this season means we will resign him and Nate Robinson and have one of the deadliest 3-Ball shooting teams under Dantoni's offense for the 2009-10 season.

Not to rain on your parade, i know you've been preaching D. Nichols for almost 2 years now but if he is such a great shooter why hasn't he caught on with Cleveland or Chicago. Cleveland is always looking for shooters to surround Lebron with. I highly doubt Nichols plays at all over the next month unless we are blowing somebody out or they are blowing us out. Maybe he'll get an invite to camp if he performs in practice but i dont' see him being more then a 10th man at best.

Ewing is playing well- these are solid numbers. He's a good all-around player and has spent much more time proving himself in the d league. It's a shame that he's not being given a shot- over either Nichols or Samb.

Yes, these are solid stats. However, they're solid from a D-League perspective. When you grab a guy from D-League, you want him to be tearing shit up. This means that the players skills are well beyond D-League talent and most likely said player would be solid as an NBA player.

Those numbers just proved that Nichols is a much better shooter and scorer than Pat Jr...

Thanks for clearing up who was the better choice to call up...Nichols

My post was in response to LJ4pointplay saying that Ewing was "not very impressive in the d league." It was also in support of Ewing, not Nichols. I know you're trying to be edgy and cool, but twisting people's posts just makes you look rude and annoying.

Nichols has played on NBA teams, during their regular seasons: the Bulls and Cavs, and has done poorly. Ewing has not even had the chance- but on the Knicks' preseason game against the celts, playing against NBA players (not guys trying to make the NBA or rookies), he did way better than anything Nichols has ever done, outside of summer league games (against second string guys) and the d league (in which he's played only 11 games, to Ewing's 25).

Ewing averages a bit less, insofar as FG% and points, but he averages almost nine rebounds, is a bigger body: 6'8", 240 lbs, which fills our needs much more nicely. He also started off poorly in the d league, and his numbers reflect improvement, and are misleading, in that he's been scoring above his average (the reason why his numbers have gone up as much as they have). He also has a higher EFF, 2 points higher than Nichols', at +19.

Not everything's so black and white: you have to analyze the data much more carefuly.

Had another 21 & 13 night last night. He's gaining confidence every time out. He didn't even use to look for a shot. Now he's firin 'em up like Daddy. Lol! If the Knicks don't grab him soon, somebody will.

No offense to all you Patrick Ewing Jr fans but we don't need him. He is too small for a 4, He doesn't have the the ball handling skill of a 3 and he can't shoot the ball. The only thing he have to offer the Knicks is his name EWING, but that won't help us win games.

Do you think D-Nick and Cheick Samb are going to help this this team win games? No, these guys are projects. Ewing Jr. has potential to be a good bench player. We have roster space, there's no reason not to give him a shot.

It's no offense to us, it's an offense to logic. 6'8" 240 lbs is big enough to play the 4, there are even guys smaller than that playing the 4: Paul Millsap - for example. Some of the greatest 4's have been smaller guys: under 6'7". As for Ewing's ball handling, he's a frontline guy and doesn't need to handle the ball a lot, not that you have any evidence to back up your assertions. You say he can't shoot. Again - where's your evidence?

And why aren't you bashing Nichols - a guy that's gotten opportunities to play and has failed? I'm not saying that Ewing needs to start - but - if you can give Nichols a shot (after he's already gotten shots and has failed) - you should be able to give Ewing a shot.

(don't need a co-sign - by the way)

I guess Donnie Walsh is retarded that didn't sign Patrick Ewing Jr instead. He should have read this forum first before signing Nichols. He obviously don't know shit what the team needs nor can he see talent. We need a new GM ASAP...

Yea...a dunk...lets give him the max now.

Ewing has to develop a jumper if he wants to make this team, we don't need a liability on offense.

Ewing could take Jefferies spot though.

But a liability on defense is okay??? Offense is not his strong point granted, but he's improving game after game. Another 22 & 15 last night. He's a spark off the bench. Maybe the front office is letting him continue to gain confidence in the D-League. But isn't it true that any team can call him up, & not just the Knicks and/or the Kings? IMO, it'd be a mistake to let him get away.

You fail.
Donnie Walsh is a godsend. He got rid of contracts thought to be untradable.

And we don't have a GM anyway....Walsh is President...No GM
