As mafra, myself, crazy and others repeatedly point out:

Wilson is a FA. And we have the cap situation where his signing, or lackthereof, is the crux in our ability to sign Melo, or the host of legit 5s and other FA's thru sign n trade or whatever.

We know this. The league knows this.

A solid but unspectactular kid with a injury history isn't going to have people lining up.

Not when he is a rental. Not when everyone knows he doesnt make much sense for us long term and our ability and desire to resign him is ripe with difficulty and unlikleyhood.

We have little to no leverage or bargaining power.

The one scenario where maybe we KEEP him. Is we trade for Melo and GALLO goes. Gallo, Walker, future 1st, curry. 2nds for Rudy.

Melo-Rudy-Rautins
Wilson (resigned)-Fields
STAT-Turiaf
Moz-AR

It's possible. We'd have a legit stockpile of sharpshooting range off the bench, too.

Depending on how highly you rate how Wilson could do in that lineup, it could be sick and have potential to really explode.

Carmelo Anthony will only make the Knicks a first round playoff team.
Melo's poor defense has made him into a liability in a postseason series.

Rudy Fernandez has to be showcased after his action this offseason.
Will Rudy prove to be better than Mason/Walker/and Fields at the 2 spot?

How many years will we keep chasing after the next NBA team Franchise player?
Chandler wouldve been giving an extension on any other NBA team.

Kiyaman, you can't assume as a basis for reasoning or arguing. Nobody will take it onboard.

Postulating to complain about your favourite team is NOT cool. Postulating in general is NOT cool.

The thing is...a 23rd pick in the 1st round isn't really all that amazing. Most drafts have talent stockpiled in the first 4 or 5 picks and then it's just a crapshoot from there...especially a late round pick, a 23rd pick in the first round, that's not really worth that much more than a 2nd rounder

We have lowered our salary cap without having any rookie star contract players on the team, which has made us into a new franchise team just joining the NBA.

Assume or postulating .... does not have anything to do with a rookie
contract player proving he is a young 6 year keeper for a team.
Whether u want to believe it or not certain players u draft will show u
within their first two seasons whether they are 4 to 6 year keepers.
Giving a rookie contract players a two year extension is alot cheaper
(it shows loyalty).
The Knicks drafted some 6 year keepers under Isiah Thomas.
Trevor Ariza/Frye/Lee/Nate/and Chandler were all 6 year keepers that
deserved an extension to their contracts. They wouldve been more value to
the team with an extended contract, especially in a trade.

I can bet my bottom dollar Dantoni will make it his personal bussiness to
get Gallo an extension to his contract at the end of this season.
Although, I would luv to see Gallo test the FA waters after his 4 NBA
seasons.

Nice post, I agree with a lot of it. But I'd say 6 years is an over-commit to a rookie. That is unless it is a cheap contract with options and/or QOs.

More conjectures Kiyaman. That's so circumstantial. A team always wants to dictate the terms of a players contract.

But that is speculation. That's what I was referring to in terms of assuming or postulating.
