No, something isiah would do is exactly what you would like to do. Isiah brought in a total of 1 superstar in his time here. Stephon Marbury. How the team lookin now? Building a team around 1 superstar dont work no matter who you are unless your names Lebron (see cleveland cavs 07 trip to finals).
Who ever said marbury was a "superstar"? Superstars lead their teams to the nba finals (i.e.- allen iverson, lebron james, karl malone, orlando shaq, patrick ewing, charles barkley), superstars with a good supporting cast win championships (olajuwon-rockets, jordan- bulls, duncan- spurs, laker shaq- lakers, etc.), and superstars paired along with another star + having a good supporting cast make dynasties (jordan + pippen- bulls, shaq + kobe- lakers). At best starbury is a star. Nothing more. So we really haven't had a superstar since ewing. And he could only get so far.

Now if we bring that one superstar and then wait for one of our young guys to become that scottie pippen type player (gallo or chandler) + having a good supporting cast, we can build a dynasty of our own.

obviously another starbury war is being provoked by a haterbury so im just gonna sit back and laugh while you stress about this

i know its early, but imo all we need is someone like thabeet.
(that's saying alot, considering every team needs someone like thabeet)
all this team needs is to learn how to play together better, by playing more with each other.
every game i watch duhon play, makes me realize he is the perfect fit for this team.he ain't no diva, he takes shots only when he needs to, he is a point who god forbid, does point guard things; chandler,is still young and still has those moments that make you go, wtf?but there is no denying he is a rock solid defender with a good offensive game when he decides to be that.gallo is showing improvement every game, with flair, range, handle; considering his age and his health issues.lee is lee.the double double machine, the most consistent knick, continues to improve his all around game, as he becomes an all star with each passing game(even though he probably won't get in).all we need is that stopper in the middle.all we need is thabeet.( so does everyone else besides the lakers, rockets, and magic)our bench play with nate and harrington(though all takes some crazy ass shots sometimes) has been very good.i'd love to have them back aswell. with the exception of the lakers, the dinosaurs are gonna start dying out sooner or later; the celtics are gonna get old, and so will duncan; its just a matter of time.
i don't give them more than 2 years of being great.coincidentally, that's when i could see our team, become that entity that feels the void, but all we need is thabeet.thabeet is all we need.:peace:

And we can trade any guard we have for better defensive players...we have a poor defensive team.

But yea a shotblocking/rebounding center is a NEED and Thabeet would be perfect.

We also need a Shooting guard that we can gurantee to hit the long shot...a go-to-guy so that if our team is struggling and can't buy a basket then we can always feed that person the ball and almost gurantee him to make an open shot.

Ben Gordon would be a great fit.

Ben Gordon is a shorter version of Crawford.

Ben Gordon is a shorter version of Crawford.

No one is as inconsistent as Crawford and Ben Gordon has a deadly shot...he prob won't be back with Chicago next year...he's from NY and wants to play here which he has mentioned in numerous articles. He would be perfect.

How many open shots does our back court get at the three spot that they always miss? Too many. With a shooter like Gordon he'd average 20 ppg easy.

I don't think I'm the only one that has this opinion.

He'll be asking way to much for an under-sized shooting guard (somewhere in the 7-9 range and we have Nate all-ready :D), and he's a streaky shooter. That's all I'm saying.

Its been a long time since the Knicks had a superstar

I don't use the word superstar liberally because there are probably only 5-10 superstars in the game today. Marbury is a star, not a superstar. Superstars make your teammates better, and they can carry a team on their back. Another quality about superstars is that they are winners, even when the supporting cast is not that good. History shows that Marbury is a loser. I consider Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Paul superstars. Marbury has never reached the level that those guys are playing in. The last superstar the Knicks had was Patrick Ewing, and Marbury is not even close to his level.

signing 2 stars in 2010 does not mean we have to gut out our entire team. If anything, we should be discussing harringtons contract that expires before 2010 and contemplate signing him. Gallo is here for the long haul. If we see what ariza became after isiah traded him, i would cringe to see chandler breaking out on another team, im sure dantoni feels the same way. So imo, chandler is here to stay. Lee is our main issue now because of the amount of money his agent is demanding, and that can corrupt our 2010 plan, which is to sign 2 superstars. We have randolphs huge contract GONE, marbury's 20 mil, GONE, harringtons contract GONE, malik rose, GONE, Jerome james, gone, crawfords 9 mil, gone.....you all are focusing on the wrong things, we need to talk about how to trade curry and his huge contract. If we plan to get bosh, package lee with curry....if we want lebron, package chandler with curry. personally i want wade....but lebron is nice as well.

I might as well chime in , IMO we need to do whatever we can do clear room for 2 superstars as long as we keep david lee. David Lee is a superstar NOW besides Dwight Howard who averages more 10-10 nights....... He has been doing it for us since he came off the bench.....so back to my point keep trading contracts and keep money for david besides David,Gallo, and chandler anyone on this team can beat it including duhon. Duhon is nothing like Mark Jackson , mark is one of the 3 best Point Guards of our ERA and maybe of all-time. We had a chance for him to be coaching our team and we made a mistake by not hiring him.

Wow, you need one more post to hit the 1G plateau. So, I'll help you out...

You can't win shit without a bench. Most great teams won only once they had a complete team, which included the bench.

By getting two superstars we won't have a complete team. That's why only one superstar would be great so that we have enough dough for our young talent.

I don't think walsh is deadset on going for two superstars when 2010 comes around.

Wow, didnt kno i posted that much, well since u noticed it, my reply to you will be my G. Of course you need a bench, dont take me so literal, a lot of times i come here and say how i feel, and feel diferent another day, but what i meant was that with a solid starting 5, we can make our bench great. Look what happened to antoine walker, posey and kapono and miami's 3 point specialists after shaq left. walker was a gunner from downtown, not because he can create his own shot, but because wade and shaq demanded double teams. Even i can knock down an open 15 footer. Stars make role players. Im sure q.rich can be a good role player if wade was gettin doubles or lebron getting doubles.....anyone who just hustles and hits the easy shots is a role player.thus walker went from an elite role player, to a nobody once again. If someone took the pressure off of Q, he would shine like he did in PHX. Keep in mind that that team had joe johnson, nash, amare, and stat. If we have wade or lebron, and they get doubled, i can see lee, q, gallo, wilson, duhon, almost anyone hitting the open jumper. We have NO ONE that commands a double team every night. That is what walsh wants. Someone who can get the ball in the last minute, or draw so much attention, that a role player is lucky enought o do what he does best.

with big production guys, we can construct role players around them, and turn some of our starters into role positions where they rightfully belong.

If that happens, We are all going to meet at a bar in NYC and I'm buying every member of this message board a drink on me!

G-fly, you called it. Make mine a jack and coke.

Lol, half the board should still be under-age by that time. But we can still pass the alcohol along.

this is what annoys me from people, mark jackson was a pass first point guard, what the hell is duhon?nothing like mark jackson.:whatever:mark has had zero coaching experience, and that's exactly what we needed for this trainwreck team at the time, right?
we don't need 2 superstars.we need a TEAM.

i want a team in the mold of the teams that got us 2 chips.

Yea I got you. Fuq the bench = wack bench. My thing is instead of having 2 superstars, we should have 1 + talent everywhere. One of these young players will eventually become that second superstar. Plus, we will have a great bench. And considering the type of offense we run, putting in good players when our stars need a break won't allow the other team to take a break. We'll be avg. 150 points per game easy
