Three cheers for the NY Knicks. Their first 5-game winning streak in 5 years!
First there were the cheap sneakers Marbury put his name behind, then there was the time Eddy Curry forgot to bring his sneakers to training camp, but now we have this: The sneaker shot heard 'round the world.
Ever since Amar'e threw his sneakers at the water coolers, went into a tirade and called out his teammates.... The Knicks are 5-1. Winning 3 games out West and taking back-2-back games from CHA!
How huge is this win? Knicks now own the tiebreaker against CHA. That means they must finish at least 1 game better than us for the 8th spot. One team done!
SO, reason number one we went with Amar'e over David Lee... Well, it's all in the name. STAT is the type of player that lures a Carmelo or a Paul. More importantly, STAT is a LEADER. Type A personality. He demand-commands respect.
Did David Lee ever throw a shoe? Heck, did he ever even rip a shoelace in disgust?
We all love and respect Lee; but STAT is the better all-around player. Knicks won the game tonight b/c STAT had a tremendous block. Any doubt that S-Jax slams that home on Lee?
STAT then drained 2 free throws, and finally (although out of control) spun around in the lane and found Fields. GAME OVER.
Players are buying into winning; and it all begand when STAT willed this season around, not allowing his team to accept losing.
Who would guess after 16 games.... Knicks would be 8-8 and MIA potentialy 8-7.... Who would guess NY would trail MIA by a mere half game!
Mafra..... its not about "Amare vs D.Lee", same as it wasnt about "Zach vs D.Lee".
It is about trading future draft picks to get cap-space to add 2-Max players
or at least 2-All-Star players to the Knick roster in the 2010 offseason.
Having no cap-space next offseason, b/c we added a cheap center (Earl Barron)
into a rotation with F/C-Amare, F/C-D.Lee, SF-Gallo, F/G-Chandler, F/G-Fields,
PG-Douglas, PG-Felton, SG-Walker, SF-Ewing Jr., and other minimum wage
players to start the rebuilding of a .500+ Knick team in the 2010-11 season.
Little have been said or done about raising the trade value of Eddy
Curry during this 2010-11 season to trade his expiring contract by the
February dead line.
