I'll respect your opinions as you should do mines. I predict that the more seasoned/vets will take it to the Knicks this year....If they don't upgrade to experience players. Teams are stacked now, what part of this don't you understand? Gilbert is far beyound good, imo. I mentioned these guys because they are available, and expressed their desires to come here and I'm sure they can still compete .
Why wait for mello, cp3 and parker? sounds like what we were doing with the Lebronsense 2 years ago. The time is now , not next year..
Ok I'll break it down for you. And btw I can understand your opinion that adding those players would give us some extra wins, but that's not helpful to us. While adding Camby/Iverson/Arenas *could* possibly help us win a few games more this year, is it going to take us over the edge? Is it going to put us in championship contention? NO. END OF STORY.
Arenas for one has a contract that would KILL all our prospects of rebuilding which is still an ongoing project until this time next year.
Iverson wouldn't be the end of the world as a cheap pickup but since we are still in rebuilding mode, let that playing time go to players who need the oncourt experience to improve their game (Douglas, Walker, Azubuike, Chandler).
Camby mixes half of Arenas and Iverson. He has a large contract for his age (not a killer but still ugly, would prevent us from getting a max next summer), and would take PT away from Randolph who is a major prospect going forward.
We are looking at building a DYNASTY in New York not a team that could maybe reach round 2 of the playoffs. No one is saying this Knicks team we have now is going to rule the roost this season, but we can make the playoffs and get some first round experience, build this young team up so when next summer comes around and we have space to add Melo or whoever is up for grabs we can improve the team even further. Why jeapordize the future of our franchise for an extra 5 regular season wins? Makes no sense.
