Will Randolph ever play again?

Nah D'Antoni needs to win now or he won't be employed much longer. So he can't play projects.

It's kinda clear he isn't the greatest in developing young talent anyways and clearly favors veterans. It's the same reason Brad Childress continues to play a hurt Brett Favre when clearly their season is over

Fields, Douglas, Moz, Gallo, Chandler.

22, 23, 22, 22, 23

Can throw in Walker too, who he is playing more and more.

Sure doesnt seem like D'ant has some stubborn determination to favor vets.

Unless your classification of "youth" means a season ago they still had the taste of Gerber'sin their mouth.

Monta Ellis + Amar'e = 2nd round exit

Al Jefferson + Amar'e = 1st round exit

Let's not forget that if we got Al Jefferson's contract instead of the smaller-sized contracts of Randolph+Azubuike+Turiaf, we wouldn't have had the cap space to sign Felton and thus wouldn't have a legitimate PG. We'd have Toney Douglas running the point, and as good a player he is, he's not as good as Felton.

Let's not forget that getting Ellis or Jefferson's contracts would've killed our cap in the long run. And we're not winning any titles with Ellis or Jefferson on our team.

Hmm. I mean, I agree we would be 1st or 2nd round playoff exits. But that'd be THIS year.

We'd still be getting better. Just like we currently are. We'd still have the Gallo's, Field's, Dougla's, Chandler's, etc. to improve with.

AND, we'd have Curry's expiring giving more cap in a year.

Could we not have still signed Felton, too, along with Ellis or Jefferson? Not signed Moz, of course, and not taken on AR/Turiaf/Azzy deals.

With M. Gasol on horizon, trading for Ellis would have been interesting. If we could have signed a Felton, too....

You don't understand. Taking on Al Jefferson's contract or Monta Ellis' contract (which is much larger than the combined contracts of Randolph+Azubuike+Turiaf) would've made it so that we wouldn't have been able to sign Felton at the price we did. He probably would've gone somewhere else.

If we took on Jefferson's contract especially it's also debatable whether or not we'd be able to sign an FA next year. Probably would've been able to, but it would've been much closer.

Monte Ellis is making 11M.

Isn't Felton 8???

Moz is 3M. (not to mention AR/Turiaf/Azzy).

It seems we could have had Ellis + AR. And been in the same cap spot.

*Felton
*Ellis
*Gallo
*STAT
*AR

Fields, Douglas, Chandler, Walker

Curry + Chandler off books at the end of the season.

Could sign Gasol + Chandler.

*Felton
*Ellis
*Gallo
*STAT
*M.Gasol

BENCH: Chandler, Fields, Douglas, AR, Walker

We'd be locked into that. Which I guess Walsh didn't want (dreaming of the big fish, Carmelo???)

Still. That above lineup could be a contender, no?

Potentially three, 20+ ppg starters, a legit quality Center who can move, Felton, and a quality bench.

1) David Lee did not want to leave N.Y., he even stayed behind a few
days when his team visted the Knicks (to visit his primary docter) LOL.
Lee and his agent could not trust Walsh, after Walsh tried to trade Lee
for a 2008 lottery pick, and with Walsh long poor history in drafting he
probably wouldve use the pick to select Anthony Randolph.

2) The Timberwolves offered Al Jefferson, and the GSW offered Ellis to
Donnie Walsh a week before the official David Lee trade.

3) Donnie Walsh only had 4 players under contract on July 1st. 2010.
Walsh had to sign 11 players to the roster. And those 11 players better
get the Knicks into the 2010-11 playoffs. Walsh spent alot of Dolan's money
the past 2 seasons to lower the Knicks salary cap, plus tanking two seasons.

4) Amare was the first star FA to commit to the next team, and everyone
knows why. Its hard to say "NO!" to $100M contract for 5 seasons.

5) For some reason or another the 2010 abundance of free agents were not
interested in joining the New York Knicks, even when Amare & Felton had
committed to the Knicks on July 8th..... the Knicks had to go to the Euro-
league to sign a player.

6) David Lee was an unrestricted FA ...... the Bulls, the Nets, and the
Wizards wouldve gave David Lee a $70M contract for 5 years.
Lee did not have to help the begging Donnie Walsh add 3 veteran players
to his 2010 plan.

7) It is crazy that so many Knick-Fans act like they were clueless or
shocked at why Dolan wanted to rehire Isiah Thomas this summer.
:gony: Donnie Walsh acted like someone owed him something for nothing.
What if unrestricted FA David Lee signed with the
next team, and refuse to be apart of a sign and trade?
isnt that what FA Amare, Boozer, Bosh, and Lebron did?
What do u think our 2010-11 Knick roster would look like
without the David Lee sign and trade?

Do you even read my posts before you go crazy writing a huge wall of text? Sometimes, I really think you're just insane.

I don't understand why the Knicks are willing to give minutes to Mozgov to but are unwilling to give minutes to Anthony Randolph?

Both are obviously very green and make a lot of mistakes, but Randolph at least has a 2 year record in Golden State of being an excellent rebounder and shot blocker and can also score in transition, slashing, off offensive rebounds etc... Plus his upside is massively higher because he's a great athlete and only 21. Mozgov is 24.

To this point Mozgov has been a poor rebounder, low usage and inefficient scorer, turnover prone, and foul prone. The only thing he does well is block shots.

Granted, AR may not be strong enough to play C on most nights, but he could spell Amare at PF and play with Turiaf and even play with Amare at C if the other team does not have a big dominant C.

If Mozgov deserves 10 minutes so does AR. In fact he deserves them more.

I have a funny feeling that there was some kind of agreement with the Mozgov camp that if he came to the US he would play and they are giving him minutes for that reason. I see no reason to play him based on his production. Even Milicic has been way more productive than him lately and that's embarrassing.
