Like many folks on this board, I was rather upset that the Knicks passed on Solomon Alabi in the draft earlier this year - after all, we needed a center, and Alabi was projected as a late first-round pick.
Of course, Walsh later acquired the rights to sign Jerome Jordan. He also picked up Timofey Mozgov on a 3 year contract (only the first year is guaranteed as far as I know).
The NY Post's Marc Berman reported that one executive considered Mozgov to be a mid first-round pick if he had been in the draft earlier this year.

Don't get me wrong. I still believe that Andy Rautins and Landry Fields were not the best draft choices (I personally would've used one of my picks on BORN READY and another one on Alabi and then if I really wanted Rautins and Fields simply undrafted FA sign them), and it still doesn't make sense to me to draft either of those two over Solomon Alabi - but at the very least, I have to give Walsh credit for obtaining two decent center prospects in Mozgov and Jerome Jordan.
That being said, if Born Ready ends up dropping 15 PPG this year I'm going to blow a fuse, but other than that...I'd say Walsh has made up for his draft choice, hm?
