JR Smith opts out
Knicks get early bird rights for Lin, Novak and Fields. Lin and Fields sign for 3mil starting salaries for the next year while Novak starts at 2.5mil.
Knicks re-sign Mike Bibby
Knicks trade Toney Douglas and Jerome Jordan to Memphis to move into the late 1st Round.
2012 NBA Draft
1st Round- Henry Sims- The former McDonald's All-American is one of the best passing big men college basketball has seen in a long time. If he can develop some post moves, Sims has the potential to be a nice NBA player. Intriguing prospect to put behind Tyson Chandler. Georgetown has some great NBA players in the league right now. Greg Monroe, Roy Hibbert and Jeff Green are all skilled guys who have bright futures. Sims is an unfinished product but could become a valuable role player behind STAT and Chandler. We need guys like him for our future. Bigs who are skilled and selfless. 6'11 250, Georgetown big man.
2nd Round- Kim English- Another selfless guy who played out of position in college but showed great skill. Limited athleticism but he has range. Ideal 2 Guard off the bench behind Iman Shumpert. I see some H20 in him but ideally I think he becomes an Anthony Morrow type who can go for 30 when hot. The difference between him and Novak is that he can move well off the ball and put the ball on the ground.
Free Agency
Knicks sign Lamar Odom with the Mid-Level Exception.
I know LO has had a rough year but he's gone through a lot. I think coming home would be good for him. We need a legit 6th Man and he's ideal for me. When can put out a line up of CA, STAT, LO and Chandler and not lose any athleticism and destroy teams on the boards. Odom would be nice to have with STAT at the 5 in the 2nd unit because he can handle the ball on the perimeter, pass, shoot and defend.
Knicks sign Jonny Flynn with the 2.5 Bi Annual Exception.
Jonny Flynn is intriguing because he can spell Lin but I dont think we lose much. He can score, dish and defend pretty well but at this point I see him as a back up and spot starter if need be.
Knicks sign Dajuan Summers to a non-guaranteed contract
We need an athletic 3 man behind Carmelo who can defend and knock down the 3 ball. Summers another Georgetown player who understands winning basketball. A low risk most likely low reward signing but we need to fill holes.
