While stating that his coaching style will emphasize position-less basketball, David Fizdale said Tuesday that he plans to play Frank Ntilikina, Emmanuel Mudiay and Trey Burke together in the backcourt. That doesn't include three other guards under contract — Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee and Ron Baker.
In other words, there's a logjam.
"Roll them out there. Put them out there together," Fizdale said. "It's about speed, skill, aggressiveness, attack, playmaking. All of these guards have that ability. So I see a lot of versatility in there. I see a lot of combinations with them on the floor together. Obviously we're going to develop the heck out of them. And I'm going to keep my foot up their butt about defending."

Fizdale had plenty to say at his introductory presser today(moments ago) but this stands out to me
He also said he wants #kporzee to not be limited in how he uses him. Wants to experiment playing him at the 4 and 5 alternatively. Welp #kporzee time for you to toughen up and be a Big Boy
Coach David Fizdale compared Lance Thomas to Draymond Green.
Sure. "He's a Swiss Army knife-type of player that can guard multiple positions and you can run offense through him," Fizdale said. "I think he can push the ball off the break a lot like Draymond Green plays. Obviously the thing I'm going to demand from Lance is to play defense like Draymond. And be a guy that's pushing to be a First Team All-Defender." If Fizdale can turn Thomas into half of what Dray can do, just give him 2019 Coach of the Year right now.

I disagree to the extent there will be some cap space and we can go after one of the bigs hitting the market this summer. Noah is done folks. I know there is contractual want out of him and maybe some sentimentalism involved but he's not someone we can rely on every night going forward. If anything make a push for someone like Julius Randle. Make the Lakers sweat bullets
NY Post says the new coach is not changing the Knicks minds about moving on from Noah and will utilize the NBA stretch provision on him come Sept. 1, Bobby Marks the ESPN cap specialist thinks stretching him is a bad idea, to tie up money over a longer period hasnt worked for teams. I think whether Kanter and Quinn opt out will affect the decision, both stay Noah is gone, both go and the Knicks are goihg to have to acquire a big man so why not keep him if he has anything left in the tank. This should be a high priority for Fizdale esp if Kanter and Quinn opt out. Otoh what I'm mortified at is Fizdale saying Lance Thomas is going to be the Draymond Green of our team and he's sees similar skillset and he'll look to run much of the offense through him.
"Joakim Noah, who has been away from the Knicks since February following a run-in with Jeff Hornacek, reached out to David Fizdale to congratulate him after the hire. Fizdale intimated that he's open to Noah, who has two years and $37.8 million remaining on his contract, coming back to the team. Knicks GM Scott Perry said all options remain on the table for Noah. The Knicks could continue to try to trade the veteran or waive him via the stretch provision."
7 mil a year might mean something come 2020 and 2021. There?s a reason teams don?t use this provision much...
We are going to be rotten next year.... ergo, who cares about Noah?s salary on the books. The year after that, Noah is an expiring asset we could use to trade for something... a ?bad? contract another team wants to dump... or for a player we want but we need to match salaries.
The only way I stretch him is if I feel I need every cent I can find for next summer. In that case, shaving off ten mil or whatever might be worth stretching contact out for 3 more years.

I said the Knicks brass would be sharpening their pencils to weigh the chance of acquiring a free agent with the cap space created by stretching Noah. This report says the Knicks want to be active in free agency and not wait until 2020. Kanter and Quinn opting out will affect the cap space as well and may make stretching him less critical and allow him to remain a Knick. I'm not real hopeful that he's got anything left in his tank but if Kanter and Quinn both leave I'd give Noah a shot to prove it under a new coach.7 mil a year might mean something come 2020 and 2021. All RFA, I'd rather make a run at Will Barton esp if the Knicks draft Sexton.Could a run at Cousins, or RFAs like Randle or Parker be the plan?
