:agreed::agreed::agreed::agreed::agreed::agreed:Magic could dominate but he also was the greatest floor general I ever saw. This was a guy that would get the ball to a player and you would swear he threw it right through the defender... You almost wanted to check the guy to make sure he didn't have a gapping hole in his chest! lol
FANTASTIC!!!
Also, getting back to my original point... I like Paul and would want him I just feel that Paul and STAT is a better blend than STAT and Melo.... I think we would see a better result if we are only able to get 1 of the 2.... I see Melo a better fit with Dwight Howard than STAT....
The most important impression the super-stars of the past were so great
at inwhich few of the super-stars today has commited themselves to do
was to take a below average Rondo & Perkins and make them into Star-Players.
Magic Johnson took a star base Laker team that could never go to the
next-level in the postseason games for several years to the Championship
ring level.
Jordan & Pippin improve the level of all their teammates to go on to the
next-level.
Larry Bird improve the level of all the Celtics teammates to go on to the
next-level.
CP3 has improve the level of all his teammates in every season in his NBA
career.
As an old Knick-Fan their were only three star players in the Knicks
franchise career that went all out to improve the performance of their
Knicks teammates: Earl the Pearl Monroe, Bernard King, and Mark Jackson.
No-offense to any other star Knick players in the past or future, but none
has sacrifice as much at improving their teammates performance as the
three players above while on the Knicks.
Amare & Carmelo are actually the same frontcourt player..... weak on
defensive effort/rebounding/and improving the level of their teammates
performance. The two players has yet to show they are "complimentary-
teammates" in any of the seasons in their NBA career.
Last week I recall the Lakers vs Thunder game where Kobe Bryant was
doing his best to prove to headcoach Jax that Kobe got distribution in
his game LOL.
P.S. The season before Jordan won his first Championship Ring, Jordan
actually played all 82 games as the Bulls starting PG, with Paxon at SG,
Pippin at SF, and Oakley at PF. This was why Knick President Chekkett
was stupid to trade a healthy C-Bill Cartwright (who just help Ewing to
find his offense/defense game) to the Chicago Bulls. PF-Horace Grant
strong performance the next 4 years made it look like Charles Oakley was
never missed in Chicago by winning 3 straight Championships, plus having
the best winning season in the NBA without Jordan in the 4th season after
the trade.

If they are concern with the future
1. They would not develop and start D-League players.
2. They would find a way to keep their best talents instead of selling them off in favor for less skilled players.
3. They will rest their players accordingly, so they will have energy when the game is on the line.
4. They would put together a coaching staff that stresses both Offense and Defense.
5. They would never allow the coaching staff to sign their kids to the team...especially when said kids ruin the teams chemistry.

I thought Cartwright at center and Ewing at the 4 would have been a tremendous 5/4 combo ala The Admiral and Duncan! Ewing didn't want to play the 4 and that forced the hands of the Knicks brass. Perfect example of how star players run the organization, not the other way around!
I actually don't remember Jordan playing the point although I have seen Pippen play the 1 a bunch of times.
You remember how good Horace Grant was right? I've been trying to explain to these guys Horace Grant was a tremendous player, just not a flashy one. I always thought he was a James Worthy clone.
1) ???
2) ???
3) Most coaches in the NBA have a short bench; this is not solely done by D'Antoni and this is a practice though out history.
4) This is a complete myth that D'Antoni doesn't stress defense; he has a different defensive philosophy than you probably think you want. I see that a lot in this forum that we associate good defense with a slow half court game but D'Antoni's defensive scheme is not too body up the players because that will slow down the tempo, he wants to allow them too shoot but try to disrupt their rhythm using rebounding and shot blocking. He believes that if you out rebound the other team and you have the edge in the scoring percentage, that will add up to a win. It's logical when you think about it, don't give up the offensive rebounds and score 1 more point than the opponent...
5) Gallo is not his son but the son of a friend that he played hoops with in Europe. Gallo is though of highly within the NBA ranks, not in this forum though.. Every team needs someone like a Gallo, Turgolu or Peja... Have a big man with long range abilities is a very valuable asset. Now, if you want to argue that he shouldn't start and maybe his role is better suited as a 6th man I might agree with you.
