Lets rid ourselves of old coach with old ideas. Thib’s never took any team to the finals or win a championship. A change should have happened six years ago.
 
absolutely agree. You cannot grind your way to a title and that's what Thibs does.
Teams have a bench for a reason and we don't wait for game 4 to use it.
 
I wanted Thibs gone like 3yrs ago when he was farting around with our youth. We eventually got him the team he wanted and we saw an uptick in play and overall results. I mean the team was 2gms away from reaching an NBA Finals

Losing Game 1 and the series against Indy was too much to bear and him lasting the whole summer to next season

We could reason it may have also came down to...were the roster changes(those who feel they were upgrades), the difference and why we saw more winning or was it coaching figuring things out and getting the most out of our players?

I feel Thibs got results ultimately and his firing seems fairly bush league(although I don't feel sorry for him, he got his opportunity). The media is crashing hard on our decision to let him go. Interesting to note many fans were calling for him to be fired after we went down in the series 0-2. If we make significant roster changes this summer, it begs to question further why Thibs was fired

I'm hearing Mike Malone or maybe even Jay Wright could be strong candidates. I'd welcome either and I believe Malone's assistant coaches were let go by their interim turned new permanent hire in Denver, which makes his case more compelling

Hey, when I posted this thread it was as always wishful thinking on my part. Never thought Dolan and Rose would have made this decision. This looks like ‘Knowledgeable BB People’ decision to me not Dolan and Rose. But at this point who cares it happen.

I saw some of the candidates for H.C. Malone looks be the favorite but Sam Cassel I think would be go. Of course he not mention.

I can tell you right now PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE — no Jay Wright. I’ll will let the Knicks if he is coach.

The one constant in all these situations is Dolan. At the end of the day he calls the final shot.
As long as he is there , decisions will always be a bit nuts

I’ve been talking about the KNOWLEDGEABLE BB People and let hope that they are the ones that help him to make that decision.
Not lets hope he will listen to them when it comes to hiring Phil back, lol.
 
The Firing of Tom Thibs .. How will Leon Rose function without all of Tibbs NBA wide contacts?
Tibbs was good for Leon Rose, but terrible for the Knicks roster of players each season as head coach.
Phil Jackson 2nd error as the Knicks president was firing HC Mike Woodson, when Byron Scott would've made a great top assistant coach for 4 years.
When Mike Woodson quit after one season with stubborn Tibbs, and Tibbs had to coach an entire 2021-22 season without an ex-HC as an coaching assistant for the players. HC Tibbs threw away the Knicks 2021-22 season, After the first 10 games of the season by complaining about the Knicks new FA starter PG Kemba's lack of performance each game, until a week later Tibbs publicly saying, Kemba is out of the Knicks rotation.". Tibbs wanted old-man Derrick Rose to play 40 minute games. Derrick Rose told Tibbs, to put rookie McBride as the Knicks starter, because Randle likes bringing the ball down court on most of the Knicks offensive-possession, and he will become McBrides backup coming off the bench alongside 2nd season Quickley". Tibbs refused, and wanted Derrick Rose to be the Knicks starter PG to play Rose 40 minute games.. When Rose denied a surgery he was spose to take in the offseason, Rose refuse so he could play another season coming off the bench for 24 minutes per game tutoring an outstanding athletic NBA star Quickley.
Derrick Rose sign up to have surgery a week or two later after HC Tibbs took Kemba out of the rotation.
And Tibbs put SG/SF Burks as the Knicks starter PG, plus DNP rookie McBride throughout his rookies season.
When after Rose surgery, he was out the remainder of the 2021-22 season rehabilitating.

The Knicks signing ex-Knicks player Rick Brunson as the Knicks assistant coach in the 2022 offseason.
Signing FA Jalen Brunson to be Knicks starter PG, plus signing FA Hartenstein as backup center ..
Plus trading for a multi-position defense player Josh Hart on the trading deadline in the 2022-23 season.
In the 2022 offseason the Knicks got down to business and signed the 3 people that the team needed badly ..
A starter PG .. Jalen Brunson
A back-up Center .. Hartenstein
And an assistant Coach .. Rick Brunson
To create a championship-contender team around Randle/Barrett/Brunson .. However, HC Tibbs messed that up in one winning 2022-23 season. In the 2023-24 season over half the Knicks 2022-23 winning rotation was gone by the 2024 Feb deadline.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the hiring of Tom Thibs, because the Knicks also hired our ex-Knicks HC Mike Woodson as the Knicks top assistant coach the same day we hired Tibbs.
Coach Mike Woodson wasted no time putting together a two-unit rotation as a game-plan using two of the Knicks rookies in the rotation to win the COY award.
The Knicks hired Tibbs to help-out the Knicks new (sport agent turn) President of the Knicks organization with Tibbs wide NBA contacts, and details of what's expected from a team president in the NBA.
As for Tom Thibs coaching the Knicks players .. each season it looked as if Tibbs divided the locker room of players each season being stubborn to both veteran & young-core players.
Plus denying Derrick Rose & Fournier & Kemba from practice throughout their final season as a Knicks. When all the Knicks young-core players looked-up to the Knicks veteran players with respect and a million questions.

And the Knicks 2024-25 regular season and their postseason games.
1- The Pacers performance look like they could have swept the Knicks 4-0.
2- The Celtics performance look like they wanted to go on vacation in Game 1 and Game 2
3- The Pistons performance looked like they had one missing player.
4- I did not bet any money on the Knicks winning any game in the Celtics & Pacers series. What about u?
5- I did not expect a healthy Knicks starter 5 lineup at the end of the regular season. I thought the Knicks starter 5 lineup would've start dropping to injuries during the months of March & April, after playing 40 minute games since the start of the season.
6- If the Knicks bench=players had a say-so about Keeping or Firing HC Tibbs?
I'm sure they will all respond the same, and we fans all know their response to that question.

Malone is the favorite but I saw somewhere he isn’t interested.
