do you think the 1997 Knicks team would have dethroned Chicago?

it's something I always wonder of what could have been if it wasn't for that brawl in Miami, that squad with Johnson, Childs, Houston along with the regulars never got a chance to face Chicago in the playoffs. Do you think they would have been able to defeat them in a best of seven?

im not sure about the knicks but had the magic kept shaq and penny they could have eliminated the bulls. penny owned jordan, he was the one player jordan couldnt even slow down. magic beat the bulls in 95 but they lost to houston in the finals

Great Question!

I always felt that we could've gone 7 with them. No way they wouldve handled us the way they handled the Heat in that series against them. Remember we stopped them from making history by beating them the last game of the season preventing back to back 70 win seasons -Allan Houston knocked down that clutch three in Pippens grill!-. I know it seemed as if The Bulls were destined to win those six seasons, but, I have always thought we couldve beat them. Remember we were the only team to beat them each of those three championship seasons, and the only team to beat them twice during the 97 season including one of only three teams to beat them at home!

Yeah, we matched up well against them. The Knicks stepped it up a notch against them all the time. I think the Knicks was the team that gave MJ and the bulls the most fits.

Another one of the many reasons I HATE David Stern and am waiting for the day he is no longer the NBA commissioner.

we probably would've but who knows, our full team coulda gave them some trouble but the world will never know its wanna those questions that make your heartache as a knick fan

I think we would have, but it is a what-if situation and we honestly can't give a legitimate prediction. But I was under the belief at the time that we would've taken them to 7 and finished them off.

too bad we also never saw a Knicks and Magic playoffs in the 90's with Ewing agains Shaq that would have been good series

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't we play them twice? The last two games, one at MSG and one in CHi and we won both...at least that is my memory of it!

Beat Michael Jordan in his prime?

Nope.

Chicago won 69 games that year, second best in NBA history. We might have been able to take them to 6 games, maybe 7 but we wouldn't have won a final game at the United Center against MJ and the zebras.

Yeah typical of our team we blew a forth qtr. lead and Pat saved us with a lucky bank shot from the corner when the Bulls got the lead to just two. That was the home game

And the second game H20 hit a three to beat the shot clock with 4 secs on the game clock to put us up 4.

If we didn't have the injuries/suspensions we could have topped them.

I was never a big Jordan fan like everyone else, his game was tight but the guy was a straight asshole personality wise.

Penny was gangsta with it back then, one of my favorites: (Too bad he wasn't able to have the typa career he had in Orlando with us, I was shocked that he was a Knick, those injuries set him back)
