Game Preview

Carmelo Anthony and the rest of the New York Knicks veterans will see their minutes decreased in the final six games in order to give younger players more experience.

That may not apply Friday night to starting center Robin Lopez, who has one more matchup left to try to slow down his twin brother.

Brooklyn Nets star Brook Lopez will be rested and ready to try to torment his brother yet again and their sibling rivalry may be the only intriguing part of this city rivalry at Madison Square Garden.

These teams are led by interim coaches and would be the worst in the Atlantic Division if not for nine-win Philadelphia. The Knicks are losers of six of eight and 20 of 27 while the Nets (21-54) are seeking to avoid their first nine-game road slide since a 12-game skid in 2010-11.

Several Knicks approached coach Kurt Rambis on their road trip this week and asked to get their minutes reduced. Rambis and the Phil Jackson-led organization agreed to do so beginning with Wednesday's 91-89 loss at Dallas.

"We would like to cut down on guys' minutes who we feel secure with," Rambis told the Knicks' official website. "We know who they are as players and (they) play well for us and try to cut back their minutes to open up minutes for other guys."

Anthony, who scored 31 in 33 minutes against the Mavericks, was one of the catalysts for the move.

"It's an opportunity for guys to just play," Anthony said. "It's not any one person that I want to see, it's just opportunity for guys that haven't been playing as much to go out there and play now."

New York (30-46) has seen plenty from rookie Kristaps Porzingis, who is one of the franchise's cornerstones. Porzingis is uncertain after he sat out Wednesday with a shoulder injury.

Robin Lopez is within the group of veterans who will see his minutes cut, although he may want to receive his regular playing time Friday. Twin brother Brook Lopez is averaging 24.7 points on 51.8 percent shooting to help Brooklyn take two of three meetings with New York this season and his Nets have won six of the last seven matchups.

Brooklyn chose to rest Lopez in Thursday's 107-87 loss at Cleveland, probably figuring it had a better chance to win Friday than against LeBron James and the Eastern Conference leaders. The Nets shot 37.2 percent without him for their second-worst mark.

"It changes everything," said coach Tony Brown about Lopez sitting out. "You have a threat down there in the paint that garners some attention. With him not being out there, obviously it makes it a little tougher."

The Nets have dropped seven straight in the second game of back-to-back sets, going 2-11 overall.

Rookie shooting guard Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is expected to play after missing two straight games for Brooklyn. He has missed most of the season with a fractured right ankle.

Knicks guard Jose Calderon is uncertain after he injured his quad in Dallas.

Thanks for the game thread Rady.

CleEarly is back. Calderon may not play the remainder of the season with a deep quad bruise, they may shut down KP as well for the remainder of the season. Grant will start for JC and DWill for KP. Grant should play big minutes the rest of the season, lets see what he can do. DWill was crap the last game he started for KP but there was a nice article about him today talking about his good play in March and that he may opt out.

I want to see CleEarly with big minutes also, he's been putting up good numbers in the DLeague so he should be able to handle extended minutes.

Knicks lead 47-46 at the break. Decent games by JG and Cle. Grant is really good at getting to the cup but I don't see a PG yet, his role maybe a SG in the league.

Knicks win in a blowout 105-91 against a worse team than them. JG with a good first game as a starter 6/13 14pts in 29 mins. Early 3/10 7 pts in 23 mins. I'd expect Early to get 20+ mins the rest of the season I think he's on the bubble so he needs to play better than tonight otherwise he won't be a Knick next year.

Grant and Galloway have "monster" games. 7 assists from LG! Woah... Will NYK finish 4-2 and get to 34 wins?

Missed big chunks of the game, but the parts I saw were pretty entertaining ignoring the insignificance of the result of this game. At times they were playing against D League talent only, but Grant and Galloway seized their opportunities tonight and played well. I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do in these last few games.

The Knicks coaching the past two season are enough to make a person sick after watching a Knicks 82 game season ..
I been waiting all season to see a lineup with Quinn n Seraphin as the frontcourt BIGS along with Gallo n Grant in the backcourt.
I had to wait until the 77th game of the season to see the Knicks coach finally put "Quinn n Seraphin" into a lineup together SMFH

I dont care what anyone say "The Knicks coached this season to LOSE games !!!"
Our bench-players had 10 times the winning talent than our POOR BUM starter lineup of Calderon Afflalo Melo n Porzingis .. Four bum individual players with high-school b.ball IQ .. I said it!
I dont see any of the 2016 offseason top FA players wanting to be on the court next season with any of our Four Bum Starters this season.
Those Four players performance n chemistry were a classical highlight laugh of a isolation-triangle on both side of court for a LOSE!
Rolo 7 yr veteran talent were to good to be on the court with that many BUMS in the same lineup to start each game.
It makes me think .. maybe it was Rolo idea not to play in the 4th quarter with 4 isolation bums.

Im sure to believe we would've had half of the loses we have now .. if the lineup of Quinn, Seraphin, D.Will, Gallo n Grant receive half the minute of playing time as we gave the lineup of Calderon AA Melo KP

If u dont know .. here some news on Grant, his family played pro-ball so they made sure Grant stay in college to receive his bachelor-degree before entering the draft.
Grant n Gallo NBA skills would have enhance 5 time more than it did this season if they weren't always put into a lineup with bad decsion-making isolation players Melo AA n Calderon controlling the ball
