This a conversation Silver with a Phoenix Suns employee. It mentions when the league started in 2019 trying to keep teams from tanking. Our dumb F.O. and some in the fanbase thought it a good idea. Again, the league discouraged this but the Knicks did it anyway. Taking us(you and I) to the depths of despair. Then had no idea how to solve the problem when we didn?t get the 1st overall pick.
I didn?t want to tank because I thought draft wasn?t that great with just one player who MIGHT be transformative. So tanking wasn?t the right to do or wise thing to do. This why we a in the sad current circumstances.

Knicks didn?t tank. KP was out for season and there wasn?t a good free agent to sign (or one who wanted to sign here). They wisely held on to the cap space for when a healthy KP returned the next season.

Stupid supporting a false narrative. NBA wanted NYK tanking narrative out there bc they wanted to save 2 franchise (NO & MEM).

There's bout 12 teams TANKING for a 1-5 pick, and each team will average around 40 3-ball shots a game, hitting less than 15 each game.

In the Beginning .. of the season in the West certain 2023 Lottery (Tanking) teams are acting up and some are following their tanking schedule ....
The OKC Thunder are 0-3
The Sacramento Kings are 0-3
The LA Lakers are 0-3
And the Houston Rockets are 1-3
But the Blazers are 4-0
The Utah Jazz are 3-1
The Spurs are 3-1
And in the East ..
The Young Orlando Magics team are 0-4
The Indiana Pacers are 1-3
The Detroit Pistons are 1-2
And the Wizards & Hornets are 2-1
Plus a Knicks LOSS to any of the above mention TANKING teams throughout the regular season are BAD BAD BAD !!!
