Today, 12/18/19 Knicks added David Blatt as an consultant in the Front-Office

I don?t have a problem with adding Blatt, but not sure I see the big picture here. Is he going to be our overseas guy? Is this a preemptive move to replacing our current front office guys?
I?m not sure adding more and more guys, even if qualified, is a recipe to better team decision making.

To consult for what?? Mills and Perry shouldn't be allowed to make any decision about the team. So why do you need a consultant? This team should be on auto-drive until the end of the year.
The best thing for the Knicks right now is to fire Mills and Perry. There some of those current coaches could have left with Fiz. If there is the possibility of any trade before the deadline we can't trust them.

Only reason to bring the guy in is to learn the ropes for the job as the Knicks next head coach. As far as I knew thats what he is a head coach and not a front office type. The last time we tried hiring a coach for the front office it was a disaster.
I wish they would give Miller a shot for the job though, so far he's getting results. Blatt happens to be one of the guys on Broadways short list of head coaches and he is qualified.
I'm preaching for Mike Miller to become a KEEEPER .. especially, if Miller get this (yesthis) Knick roster to play .500 b.ball throughout mid-season.

First of all nothing Mills and Perry does should be seen a permanent. Not sure what Dolan has on his mind but Mills and Perry have no busy making decision or hire. Let hope they aren't able to make trades.
That last coach hired in the front office gave us KP, Dotson, Kornet, Hicks, Frank, Knox, Mrob and Trier. Plus he was a Knick and owns more championship rings than anybody. A Disaster?? If didn't know it was going to be growing pains with him then you were mistaken. He made mistakes but none like what these clowns have done. The one thing he did was to draft and sign talent. What has Mills and Perry drafted and signed. It out there on the court at 7-21.
Not a fan Blatt. My list has a head coach candidate and two assistant coaches. The same 3 since with got rid of Horny.

This roster to .500 would be a miracle. You would need the same situation like last night game. A major player out for the opposing team. Not sure that going to happen.

lol my list was kind of long Tig, almost as if I was just throwing names out there but Blatt is a quality hire...if for nothing else, his insight on foreign prospects and his scouting ability overall
Also he could get a head start potentially assembling a coaching staff if he takes over
Don?t let the Lebron experience fool us he is highly respected but I am hoping the best for Miller

However, you right! Mills and Perry should not be able to hire anyone after the 3-1 Flow .. Mills should've hired his college buddy Blatt in the off-season to consult and advise him bout the so-call Fizdale's developing coaching during the 17 win season.
I'm hoping Blatt consult Mills/Perry on hiring a great assistant coach for our future head-coach Mike Miller.
Don't hold ur breath waiting on Dolan to Fire (Mills) someone who been at MSG for over 20 yrs.

Well I was wrong about this being a path for the head coaching job of the Knicks but with his MS how much impact is he going to have on the decisions of the Knicks? His hire sounds like a non-event.
Interesting article on the long journey of Mike Miller to the Knicks head coaching job. Seems the consensus is the Knicks will pursue the big name for the next head coach but if Miller does a great job why not keep him, it's not like the Larry Browns or Zekes that Dolan brought in did us any good,

When you get lost without GPS or any the other new devices. You go back the last place that was familiar before you got lost. WHAT IS THE LAST PLACE IN TIME THAT PRODUCE SOME GOOD BEFORE MILLS AND PERRY??? C'mon it real simple!!! I know you don't want to say it but you have too. When I cut myself I bleed Blue & Orange so does he. Let give you a quote "The only person that gone to help us(Knicks) is another Knick".
When you answer it truthfully then add the name of Magic Johnson to it and shake well. This will get us back to respectability and the future. Now is the time not for foolishness just hiring anybody.

Kiyaman, I agree 100%. You've got to reward good performance. This made the Blat hire curious to me. Also he recently announced that he has M.S. so I don't know if he can handle the grind and pressure of coaching in N.Y. If anything, this consultant role paves the way for a front office position... Even more strange... Will he replace Scott Perry, Mills, Alan Houston? Who knows. I don't really understand the purpose of the hire.
It really looks like Mills isn't going anywhere. But let's look at this from a different perspective for a sec. Knicks f'd up chasing KD/ Irving. They abandoned their youth movement. If you judge the Knicks by their moves to make short term deals they'd get a D+ or C-. The signing all things considered weren't bad at all. Coach was a real problem.
Next step really should be trading available assets for draft picks over the next couple of years. Just rack up assets. Get picks from TWolves, Detroit maybe, any team projected to stink it up over the next few years. I want PICKS! Picks for 2021, 2022 and 2023. See if we can make a run at Brandon Ingram.

There is a variety of different types of MS. My aunt has had a relatively mild form since the middle of the 1980. It is not ideal but with the right kind of medication, you can have a long and fulfilled life with it. I expect him to get top-notch treatment and clearly he'll not have to wait until there is a single-payer health care system in the US. The role of an advisor seems ideal to me. He doesn't have to endure the daily grind of an NBA schedule, yet he can stay in the game and make an impact. Hopefully.
