Australian big man Nathan Jawai looks destined to be traded to the Toronto Raptors after being selected by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of Friday's NBA draft.
The 21-year-old Cairns Taipans star was chosen by the Pacers in the second round with pick 41 of the draft.
However, a story on the Raptors' official website suggested that a move to Toronto for Jawai was almost a fait accompli.

"The Raptors agreed to a trade in principle on the eve of the draft, acquiring six-time all-star Jermaine O'Neal and Indiana's 41st pick in exchange for point guard T.J. Ford, centre Rasho Nesterovic, Maceo Baston, and Toronto's 17th pick," the story said.
"So when the Pacers selected Australian centre Nathan Jawai at No. 41, they did so on behalf of the Raptors."
"Because the deal can't be announced until after July 9, the Raptors went through the motions when the No.17 pick came up, selecting Georgetown centre Roy Hibbert, who will head to Indiana when the deal is finalized."
NBA league rules dictate that the Raptors aren't allowed to make any comment on their acquisition of the young Aussie.
"There's been a lot of speculation about a trade, but I'm not in a position to comment on trade speculation," Toronto president and general manager Bryan Colangelo said when he met with the media briefly.
Fellow Australians Aleks Maric and Aaron Bruce missed out on selection, with the Chicago Bulls taking freshman Derrick Rose with the first pick.
Jawai, who unanimously won the NBL's 2008 Rookie of the Year award, created history when he was selected, becoming the first indigenous Australian athlete drafted by the NBA.
Known as both 'Baby Shaq' and the 'Bamaga Behemoth', Jawai is the 10th Australian player drafted by the world's most prestigious basketball competition.
