Deron Williams looks pissed off as shit..can't blame him, the nets suck ass. Why does Howard want to go to the Nets? And would they seriously be that much better with Howard? I don't see anyone decent on the Nets at this point besides WIlliams. In other news, Heat lost tonight.

Also, anyone else like what they see with Devin Green?

Douglas not understanding the role of PG

Exactly. Just gonna say the same thing. It's sad man, I really like the kid and he gives good effort. Defends & he shoots the ball well too..Actually did a nice job overall on Deron tonight, so I wanna give him credit there. But he's not a PG. A W is a W -- nice job out of our 2nd unit right there closing this out, but Douglas was HORRIBLE down the stretch...This guy's coming down looking to score the ball by himself early on in the shot clock with under 2 mins left up 7-8 pts...WTF man? Clock management dude. Terrible...At least 2 ill-advised 3s and one dribble drive where he was looking to score it himself and dribbled it out of bounds. That can't happen...I mean God forbid Toney ever gave the ball back to Jorts up top after he sets him that high screen...Never gave it back to him once. NOT ONCE. And that play was there everytime Jorts jumped out to set the screen.

Poor kid just can't run a team. It's a shame because he's a good kid and easy to root for..He's sees nothing out there though. ZIPPO. It's like he's running the point with a blindfold on. Right now, TD is the weak link to this ball club. Hands down...Davis has gotta be lickin' his chops to get back and help this team, man. What a difference he's gonna make...Wow.

yeah But i think he was pissed off the most when Shumpert got that last steal. And if they get howard you never know. Look at the Knicks lineup going into the playoffs. All it takes are few purchased picks, a few exceptions, and a few vet min players on your team and your good.

Devon green can't shoot, but right now outside of Melo no one on the knicks seems to have a reliable shot. But hey Shawne Williams was a camp guy too and he is now a rotation guy.

I thought it was hysterical. That dumb show was the pits man. I watched it a few times with my wife and we both thought it was horrendous. 100% scripted mess. Completely unwatchable. Didn't care about anyone on the show -- her mother, her sister and that idiot guy she's with (have 1 kid together, with another on the way and they're not even married--plus the guy was just a retard that didn't love the sister, I don't even think the dude had a job---just sat around the couch smoking cigarettes acting like a clown. I never wanted to punch a dude in the face more), and esp. Humphries...Man, imagine: that could've been Gallinari..Rumor had it that Kim's first choice for that nonsense was Gallinari and when he wisely turned it down, she settled for Humphries. What a joke. LMAO!! She tried so hard to copy her sister with her 'Khloe and Lamar' show...Been there, done that. Go do something else with your life moron! What a waste. Go tape another porno in the dark you idiot. Kill yourself..What the **** was this dude Humphries thinking?? How do you marry that?!?!?!?!

D'Antoni talked up Shump & Jorts after the game -- Harrellson was the last guy he discussed in his post game interview. He said he likes the hustle, marvelled at how strong he is calling him 'dirt strong," mentioned how he's quick off his feet for a rebound, once he grabs a rebound it sticks, diving on the floor and how he also has that jumper. Said he thinks he's gonna be real good once he finds some consistency with that shot and that he's a very smart player..All true...I'm glad to hear coach say that...Right now Jorts has got to be the primary bigman off the bench behind Chandler and Amar'e, ahead of Jeffries.

Dumbtoni still sucks. Like I said last season, we could have 5 all-stars and he still can't call plays that get our guys open. Our guys aren't boxing out, no defense and the offense is stagnant and it looks like Chandler is adapting to his coaching and not boxing out/rebounding for crap.

All in all I'm not impressed at all. Hopefully we get a REAL coach next season so we don't be like the Jets and waste our players in their prime on a horrible coach (Brian Schittenheimer).
Interesting commentary ma man...not alott said about Dantoni on the FORUM and I am really impressed with some insights from some veteran fans about the team but I wish someone would start a thread about the coach. Obviously if he were the whole package we would not need a defensive specialist like Mike Woodson. HOWEVER, since D'antoni has been here there has been no ROSTER STABILITY from year to year so I am going to cut him some slack...plus he came here as a proven WINNER. Nevertheless, a good insight into missing fundamentals STILL. I do believe he can fall asleep on the bench..

While Balkman didn't have the game today he had last week, he still had 7 boards which is good for something from the SF position. As Carmelo's backup that's all we really need. If we keep TD in a solely SCORING role in the 2nd unit we don't need Balkman to be anything other than a rebounder.

Saw a lot of good stuff from Jorts today and I finally realize what the scouts and the prospectus websites were saying when they were talking about Iman's shot selection. It's not TERRIBLE but at the same time it can still use some work. Unfortunately he's on a team where the #1 option is basically a chucker, so we'll have to see how he adjusts and gets better.

Good effort from a lot of our players. Still good to see STAT getting rebounding numbers more worthy of a PG than a 6'11 PF, but hey, can't be perfect.

I agree that TD is not a PG and we need to stop trying to pigeonhole him into that role. He is an undersized, explosive scorer off the bench in the mold of Jason Terry and that's how we should use him. Leave the PG duties to someone who's actually suited to play the position. At this point I think we might be better off starting Mike Bibby instead of TD - Bibby isn't exactly a pure PG either, but at least he's experienced enough to play the position adequately. Bibby and Shumpert work well together.

We'll have to see how the rest of the season goes. Loved the "We Want Humphries" chants, though!

Sorry, I missed the game tonight, but I had a chance to review the stats.

Were they using a heavier ball or did they raise the hoop sizes?

Why the terrible terrible shooting percentages?

Preseason.

Has been the case in most games so far, (watched 5 or so), the midrange and 3-point shots are mostly off due ti guys not beeing in rhythm after 10 days of practice and 1 real game in 8 months.

We'll be fine on offense, as long as we rebound and especially defend we're in the mix.

I'm loving Tyson's effort down there. :peace:
twss:thumbsup:

like others have pointed out, the two biggest problems last night will be solved with time. the shots will drop and the defense will learn to rotate better (ty will see to that). the important thing i saw was the energy on defense. seeing balkmans performance makes me hate the bibby signing even more. we'd be much better off with td shump and fields sharing the backup guard duties and balkman backing up melo. i'd hate to see td and/or shump get buried when b davis comes back. regardless of who's running point we have options with the starting unit on offense, and the 2nd unit can be filthy on both ends.

Harrelson is looking like what i hoped he would be...a stronger version of David Lee. Im loving it, and i loved how active Chandler was in the paint. He had 6 offensive rebounds, im not used to seeing a player on the Knicks battle in the paint like that.

I also agre with those that believe Toney Douglas is not a point guard, start Bibby.

"Bud" Harrellson

glad to hear D'amntoni will be using expanded rotation, with efforts from Bulkman, Jorps, the Shumpanzee and even DevGreen, and the return of Girafferies and Skywalker, he's going to have to use just about everyone other than inactives.

"Bud" Harrellson showing the hustle and muscle that earns a rotation spot. the man looks a tad like David Lee, very white... ;)
i predict his game and shot will improve with time as he gets his NBA legs and mindset together.

Balkmania has got game enough for rotation as well, he is the energizer you NEED from the bench, and has offensive and defensive prowess, limited yet formidable.

ToneD needs confidence playing with these all-stars, when he was in charge of the 2nd unit, he took over and found his shot, although his shoot-first play at the end without clock management was not cool. remember, it's preseason with relatively no time for teammates to play together. he will improve his PG status in weeks to come.

Laundry Folding the ball well, looking like all-rookie we knew and loved last year. he will need more time to adjust to all-stars as well.

I-man is TheMan: no fear, just ballin' - he's got a sweet shot, can get to the hoop and is a keeper, who will surprise the league ala last year's Laundry.

Carmelo/Stat/Chandler are triple trouble for the league; Stat needs time to adjust to being a PF again, Manhandler needs to find his spots within the team framework and master the paint, and Melo, he's just one of the greatest offensive threats the Knicks have had since Bernard, he, too will improve his performance as he gets to know his teammates better.

This is a great team coming together, I still feel the defense needs to tighten up, as I fear offensive-minded players will still peel their way into the paint until the Knicks become a cohesive defensive force.

I did enjoy watching Wood-son coaching Jorps when he was called for a foul in the paint, thank god for a defensive coach.

ToneD / Bibster

Antmelo /
Amore / Benaldo
Manhandler / Jorps

inactives:
Steve Noplay...?
Baron von Davis

I would like to see Jerome get some play, just to see what he's got and how he's improved. Steve Novak should get some minutes as well, just to join the chuckcrew.

It still looks shakey. I am not impressed with the ugly W. Jorts was really the only player to be excited about out there. Shump is going to have plenty of rookie growing pains this season, but i think we got a real solid player out of the draft there, a potential starter for sure, with time.

TD is a bench guy ala. jason terry. (as someone else pointed out) the guy just can not work a pick'n'roll, doesn't see the defender collapse on him for any easy assists, etc. He's got the shot, the defensive mindset and the right tools to be an effective off-the-bench energy guy, but with the keys to the offense the guy is just not facilitating this squads true potential.

I am excited for our chances this season but they will need to play a lot more cohesively to beat the likes of Miami and Chicago. With a shortened season and a roster that is fairly fresh to one another it's going to be interesting to see who helps bring this team together. I think Woodson and D'antoni on the same team make a great coaching duo in this regard. they will help bring them along defensively as a unit (already seeing GREAT strides beyond last years efforts) and as that happens i expect the offense will begin to flow more fluidly, especially as Melo gets used to the point forward role (amazing passer) and then hopefully Baron Davis comes back to form and can really help push this offense to the next level.

This team has the talent, depth and athleticism to be #1 offense and defense.
