Game Thread: New York Knicks @ Los Angeles Lakers 9:30pm 3/13/2016

Kobe takes a terrible contested shot and misses and Melo takes a bad shot also but his goes in for an 86-85 Knicks lead.

Melo finally closing... Had an assist and 3 big buckets (including a 3) in final minute .... But Lopez misses a FT with 30 seconds...
Now it's tie game (after another Kobe miss)... 9 seconds left.

Calderon drains a 3 from downtown... We almost throw away the inbounds pass... Scramble... Jose has to hoist it... baNG from 25-ft away with .2 left.

Clyde was saying the Knicks hadn't had a last shot game winner in about 4 years and this one wasn't easy with a scramble to inbound the ball, felt good to see that ball rip the net. Game ball to JC.

Last time the Knicks had a last shot game winner was JR against the Suns. I remember that shot.

Im so happy Melo didnt take the last shot .. Thanx Calderon for the WIN !!!
Calderon said it was drawn up for Melo to take it so the scramble of the inbound to Rolo helped by keeping it out of Melos hands.

Kobe screwed up by taking the shot too soon, surprised since he's supposed to be a heady player.

They're talking about how good Rolo has been but his overall numbers this year aren't better than his career numbers which goes to show how bad he was in the early season because he's been a monster since Jan.

Second game the Knicks have won w/o KP on this road trip, Kiya is right KP should not be there in place of Rolo esp in crunch time.

I caught the game winning shot on replay. Exciting end to a game that I found hard to watch in the 3rd quarter.

Calderon basically confirmed in post-game interviews what you could see on his face after hitting that shot. He feels persecuted. He said something along the lines of that he didn't celebrate hitting the game winning shot because it's not going to change what people think about him.

It sucks that it has come to this for a very well-respected player in the league. I'm sure if he had spent the last 2 seasons on a better team that knew how to better compensate for his issues with defense then he would not be in this position right now of feeling like the most criticized player in the NBA.

The Knicks have to waive him by Aug 31 to use the stretch provision on him, it'll probably happen sooner, perhaps in July when we'll need the cap space to sign a FA.

Maybe Jose will survive because he's the best PG the Knicks have and as old and slow as Jose is are you really going into next season with Wroten, Grant and Gallo as your starting PG.

Dolan n Phil did everything possible this season to stop the Knicks from being a competitive team.

1) Not giving $14M Rolo any playing-time in the 4th quarter prove that to be a FACT!
2) Taking O'Quinn out of the rotation prove that to be a FACT!
3) Having a 20 yr old 7.3 rookie KP with NO post skills in all our crunchtime as our center prove the above statement as FACT!
We could talk all day long about our poor guard play from Calderon and other guards but at the end of the day we all recall n remember how center- Tyson Chandler n PF- Jefferson n 6.10 SF- Steve Novak made Fields n a DLeague PG Lin Sanity play like a Super-Star for 25 straight games.

We have to remember the Knicks are the only poor playing team for over a decade that has as much sell-out crowds as the top-5 teams in the league each season.
Dolan has made a big profit of $$$ each season from the 23 win season Knicks being a consistent LOSER team. Last night Knicks vs Lakers Game ...
The Lakers are a 14-53 record team AND Knicks are a 28-40 record team .. Stable Center was SOLD-OUT last night!

Calderon was not happy because Dolan n Phil Knicks were suppose to lose to the Lakers the same way GS Warriors loss to the Kobe Bryant Lakers!!!
Sorry NBA basketball !!!

The ball was suppose to go to Melo so Melo could heave up another miss last shot .. like he been doing for 5 seasons

Linsanity was fun while it lasted, but people forget that we basically had a 0.500 record with Lin as our starter. It's not like that squad was a top team during that period, despite all the attention it got.

I can't accept the explanation that we are so bad this year because of our frontcourt. We have games where our entire backcourt rotation combined barely scores in double digits and gives up a combined 50 plus points to the opposing starting backcourt.

Thas .. because we never once develop our front-court player lineup this season .. Melo n KP are not Post players in the paint on offense or defense, Melo n KP stay on the perimeter throughout our 68 games so far.
Our front court BIGS never did any of the things we expect from a decent front-court lineup
They didnt ...
1- Screen for the guards
2- Box-out for our slasher guards
Those 2 things on offense we watch Tyson n Jefferie do for Jeremy Lin every time on offense.
Plus on defense either Tyson or Jefferies stayed in the paint area to box-out for the rebound or attack the glass or whip on opponent slashers
We expect Rolo to do the job of two big men .. not playing our BEST defensive BIG (Rolo) in the forth-quarter to get STOPS for a win are something we seen both Fisher n Rambis do

This says it all, no?

"Calderon was Sunday?s hero at Staples Center, hitting the buzzer-beating, game-winning 3-pointer to beat Kobe Bryant?s Lakers, 90-87. It was an odd reaction, however. Calderon remained emotionless after sinking the shot, and his teammates didn?t mob him. Calderon cryptically declined to say what he was thinking."
