Today's presser introducing Lee, Noah and Jennings. Most of the presser was PJ and Mill discussing the off-season and what shaped the decisions they made and not just them showing off the new guys.

DWill signs 5M/1yr deal with Miami. Thought he had a good enough year to rate a raise but it looks like the guys that are still FA's are going to find the market a little cold looking at latest deals like Speight's and DWill.

so they fu*d up?
You are always going to have some vet min guys filling out your roster. The cap space they had left before the official signing of LT was right around the vet's min so they really didn't lose any advantage.

Said this before PJ and Mills did a great job working with the assets they had in reconstructing this team. Kept their draft picks and even picked up one, spent their money wisely and didn't overpay anyone, got some bargains like LT and CLee. Overall outstanding job, writers will grade the teams and how they did in FA, I expect PJ and Mills to get an A for this off-season.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski says the Knicks are getting the "perfect backup" center in Marshall Plumlee.

The Knicks signed the 7-footer to a partially guaranteed three-year deal to help backup Joakim Noah.

"First of all he's older, he's 23," Coach K told SNY.tv at the Peach Jam where he is recruiting. "He's been a five-year player.

"He brings fundamentals and he's a leader. He's going to be an Army officer. He talks on defense. He'll screen, he'll play defense he'll rebound. And he doesn't need the ball. He just wants to make other people better. And they'll never be a practice where he's not enthusiastic. He's a perfect backup."

Plumlee, whose brothers MIles and Mason are both in the NBA, averaged 6.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in 21 minutes per game in four summer league games in Orlando. Krzyzewski said he'll have no trouble adapting to the triangle.

"He can handle the ball because we used a lot of elbow stuff," Coach K said. "And he likes to pass. It gives you a running start to the basket. He knows every play. He's very intelligent. He's just an easy guy to play with."

In addition to trading for Derrick Rose and adding Noah and guards Courtney Lee and Brandon Jennings, the Knicks also signed rookie big man Guillermo "Willy" Hernangomez and re-signed forward Lance Thomas.

For his part, Plumlee told the New York Post he's willing to do the "dirty work."

"I don't mind getting my hands dirty more than they do and getting my nose in there and getting physical,'' Plumlee told the Post. "I feel the Knicks have given me a look for a certain reason. I need to be comfortable in my role to bring energy and physicality inside. That's something I'm comfortable bringing to the table. If I keep working at it, I can help the Knicks in some way.''

Don't get what you mean, Golden State landed Durant and are now looking for vet min guys!
If they signed lance too soon that would mean they wasted extra cap space they could have used above the minimum if only they did that before signing lance which was permitted to go over the cap

Mindaugas Kuzminskas 6'9" SF 26yrs old.

I thought PJ would have to go to Europe or the D-League to get a couple of guys to fill up that bench. Have no clue how good he is. Looks like he got the room exception and perhaps Willie got the 1.9M in cap space we had on a 2-3 yr deal.

We can still sign Galloway, I think PJ is done short of a trade for Quinn/Holiday and vet min contracts like Sasha, Lou.

Phil mentions bringing back Sasha but I'm somewhat surprised there's no talk of bringing back Lou as the backup big.

Backup small forward Derrick Williams finally found a niche last season in New York but elected to opt out of the $4.9 million left on his pact and take his talents to South Beach.

With the Knicks out of cap space, Williams signed Friday for roughly the same amount he would’ve made with the Knicks — a reported one-year deal with the rival Heat.

Both sides may have regrets Williams chose to opt out. Knicks president Phil Jackson has attempted to fill Williams’ void with a cheaper option, signing 6-foot-9 Lithuanian small forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas, 26 and undrafted in 2011. The Knicks beat out the Lakers and Hawks.

Scouts have pegged Kuzminskas, who played in the Spanish League last season, having skills akin to ex-Knick Danilo Gallinari. Jackson indicated similar traits but cautioned about an NBA adjustment.

“We felt like we needed an agile, mobile 3 that had some ability to shoot distance and spread the court,” Jackson said. “It may take him an adjustment to NBA play — we understand,” Jackson said. “It gives us another opportunity to play smaller, quicker with a wide extension of spacing.”

Ex-Knicks European scout Tim Shea, based in Spain and who consults with NBA teams on prospects, projects Kuzminskas as making an impact as a rookie.

“He’s a shooter … and can be a positive addition as an NBA rotation player,” Shea told The Post.“He takes good shots and as an athlete can sometimes surprise. Long arms, quick delivery, good footwork, good reads in half-court sets. He gave quality time to Malaga for the last few seasons. Plays hard. Disciplined. Eighty percent free-throw shooter, good 2-point shooter and 3-point shooter.”

Kuzminskas averaged 12 points on 48.6 percent shooting and 3.4 rebounds in 23 games for Malaga last season.

Kuzminskas, who signed for virtually all of the $2.9 million room exception, will play for the Lithuanian Olympic Team.

The Knicks’ second-round pick, center Willy Hernangomez, also is playing in the Olympics. The Post reported he signed for four years, starting at about $1.45 million with the remaining salary-cap space.

On the roster, Hernangomez and rookie Marshall Plumlee of Duke are the only backup centers to Joakim Noah. According to a source, Jackson plans to add veteran shooting guard Sasha Vujacic and is seeking a cheap veteran big to finish the roster.

“Joakim represents a more mobile, athletic slender
— we don’t have a huge body,” Jackson said. “Our young kids Willy and Plumlee represent possibilities. We don’t have an established veteran. Kyle [O’Quinn] is going to have to take that role at the start.”

Chicago Bulls justify Derrick Rose trade by saying they wanted to get younger. They follow that trade by signing Dwayne Wade and Rajon Rondo. Not entirely sure what a season or two of Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson, Robin Lopez, Dwayne Wade, and Rajon Rondo gets you in Lebron James' Eastern Conference.

The Bulls organization must know something that I don't.

Lebron may have to sit back next season to watch the D.Wade and Butler show dominate the eastern conference.
Chicago-Bulls-have-rebuilt a TOP-3 backcourt out of Free-Agency by signing Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo

What I see in the Chicago Bulls are a WINNING Defensive guard rotation that don't take silly college 3 ball shots so idiots can call them Pros.
The Bulls are contenders .. if coach Hoiberg are willing to stay away from his Iowa St. coaching concept to preach 48 minute of defense-defense-defense having pure professional athleticism from Rondo / Wade / Butler / Grant / Gibson / Lopez / Mirotic / Portis

How well did Phil Jackson do this offseason again ???

Surprised he's back. He played in Europe last year so he must have impressed our scouts over there to warrant signing him. Ndour's signing probably means Amundson is not returning.

I wish we would've let Ndour's get his feet wet in the NBA last season .. We didn't after Ndour showed consistent promise n potential throughout our summer league games .. our organization was only focus on PROJECT KP throughout the regular season .. The proof is in the remaining players from last season.

Dallas tried to give Ndour a shot last season and he got hurt pretty much right from the start and basically missed the whole season before getting released. Not really a missed opportunity for us last year.

Two different opinions about what the Knicks did in the off-season. One guy thinks we're one of the 5 teams that will show the biggest improvement. Can't wait to see the ESPN computer predictions this year for the Knicks.

I think we're a playoff team in the EC which rates an A in my book coming off the worst record in team history 2 seasons ago.

People don’t really want to tip their cap in the direction of the Knicks for some reason, but this doesn’t make much sense. Phil Jackson made it known that he was going to make the Knicks a contending team, and they took a step toward doing that in the 2016 NBA offseason. While New York probably won’t contend for a championship next season, they’re still better than they were last year.

A starting lineup of Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick Rose, Courtney Lee, and Joakim Noah — with Brandon Jennings first off the bench — is strong enough to get the Knicks back to the postseason for the first time since 2012–13.

Another guy gives us a C and says we're the Knicks so we can't do anything right. Though I don't see how you can say we're going to make the playoffs and still give a team a C esp after not making the playoffs for 3 yrs running.

In: Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Justin Holiday, Courtney Lee, Brandon Jennings, Willy Hernangomez

Out: Arron Afflalo, Jose Calderon, Langston Galloway, Jerian Grant, Robin Lopez

The Knicks made a splash early in the offseason by acquiring Derrick Rose and signing Joakim Noah. Sprinkle in the addition of Brandon Jennings and Courtney Lee, and the Knicks will be have a vastly different rotation from last season. That doesn't mean the Knicks will be vastly better, however. They made a series of win-now moves to likely please Carmelo Anthony, but they also are betting on a pair of injury-prone players in Rose and Noah to help lead them. The Knicks will be better and should make the playoffs but they still remain the Knicks, so who knows what will exactly happen.
