2018 NBA Free Agency

Vlade gave him a 20M/3yr deal, Sixers were going to give him a 4M/1yr deal, he wouldn't make that money in Europe. They also signed Yogi, snatching him away from the Mavs after they renounced him making him an UFA. Derozan got it right there's no loyalty in the game, players should use every advantage they can to make more dough.

The Mavs were smart to renounce Yogi, they're the ones who gave him an opportunity in the first place from the G/D-League and allowed him to play enough minutes to lock in another deal in this league. I think he got like $6.5mil. Mavs drafted two guards Doncic and Brunson and I believe a couple others played well in Summer League....sorry Yogi you gotta go. They did him the biggest favor

Derozan may have a point to a degree but then again he doesn't when you look at what Durant, Kawhi did. I can list several examples of team loyalty and plenty of examples of lack of player loyalty

[Team Loyalty]
Ainge re-upped Smart,

Pop apologized to Aldridge and said he was in the wrong didn't trade him

Clippers chased down Jordan gave him $100mil to return

Orlando paid Gordon 4yrs $80mil

Charlotte still hasn't traded Kemba after rumor after rumor

Denver re-upped Barton 2 times

Rudy Gay re-upped twice with Spurs, heck they even re-upped Pau with a 3yr deal at the age of 36

Utah re-upped Exum after two major injuries

Pels gave Jrue Holiday $125mil when his last 2-3yrs there were riddled with injuries and family health scare

OKC gave Felton and Grant deals to return

Chicago matched rich offer to retain Lavine

Rockets gave CP3 $160mil

But

[Player Disloyalty]
Butler turned down 4yrs $110mil

Boogie turned down 2yrs $40mil and even went as far to lie and say he wasn't offered a contract to sign with a Conference foe

Jordan opts out of a $24mil deal and takes $2mil less to join the team he tried to leave for 3yrs ago

Kyle O'Quinn opts out of a $4.5mil deal to accept the same salary to a Conference foe and had some so called misunderstood words to say when joining new team

Towns at the moment is refusing to sign a $160mil extension all because he's butthurt

Hezonja left Orlando to join our team for what I believe was similar money

It really depends on circumstances and what makes sense but I'm all for players getting paid their worth. Derozan got a $139mil from the Raptors and he has the nerve to be talking about "loyalty"...played like garbage 2yrs in a row during the playoffs? I gotta call bulljive on him again here!

The Kings GM Divac are finally building a western conference playoff team in Sacramento next season from the off-season draft n FA market (Forward Nemanja Bjelica has agreed to a three-year, $20.5M deal with the Sacramento Kings.). The Kings young-core players staying healthy plus having a few confident veteran teammates next season has a good chance of making the push for a playoff spot in the West.

The Phoenix Suns are building a young 42 win season team in the western conference next season (Suns sent $1 million to Philly for Holmes. Dudley trade opened up salary cap space to make deal possible. Phoenix views Holmes as a center who can run the floor, block shots).

Gentry now Derozan .. Toronto Raptors are going nuts in the off-season after getting swept by Lebron in playoffs ..
Raptors fired their five season 50-Win head-coach Gentry, than the Raptors cashed in their franchise player Derozan for the Kawhi-Trade! Loyalty???
Kawhi Leonard has officially arrived in Toronto. The new Raptors superstar didn?t meet with the media Friday, but he did appear in this picture with GM Bobby Webster and team president Masai Ujiri on the team?s practice court. Fans who were worried that Leonard wouldn?t even show his face in Toronto can rest easy for now

The Yogi move reminded me of what Boozer did to the Cavs over 10 years ago when Boozer convinced Jim Paxson not to pick up his team option making him an UFA enabling him to sign with the Jazz for a huge deal instead of the MLE he promised to sign with the Cavs. Jim Paxson never lived that down, never getting another management position with a team again.

Yogi not quite the same thing but he agreed to a 5M deal and the Mavs renounced him because they thought they had him locked up to a deal but he signs with the Kings for more money after they made him unrestricted.

Melo signs with Rockets.
It's not official until that 3 team deal and his buyout gets approved by the league but HOU is where he's headed when it does.

KLove signs a 4 year 120M extension that will kick in after this upcoming season. He'll be overpaid like Melo in the final 2 years of his deal, Cavs should have looked to trade him or let his contract expire and gone the rebuild route instead.

LeBron goes to LA and all his banana boat buddies were free to dictate and none decided to join The King. Melo, Paul, and Wade all spurn LJ?s advances.

Knicks signed another young player in Noah Vonleh, we're waiting on the contract details and to see if someone will get waived in the process

Now we know why Troy Williams was released:

The Knicks on Tuesday took another low-risk flier on a former high draft pick, signing big man Noah Vonleh.

Vonleh averaged 4.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 16.2 minutes over 54 games last season, split between the Trail Blazers and Bulls. His one-year signing, the terms of which were not disclosed, was first reported by ESPN and confirmed by The Post.

The former McDonald?s All-American, who still is just 22, was the ninth pick in 2014 by the Hornets after a one-and-done stint at Indiana. But the Knicks are already his fourth NBA team, and they also brought in former lottery pick Mario Hezonja this offseason. The Knicks are banking on their new player-development emphasis to bring the best out of both players. If not, they can move on from what are low-risk deals.

Vonleh?s deal would put the Knicks over the roster limit, since they already have 15 players under contract for the upcoming season. They can have 20 players in training camp, but will have to pare down to 15 for the regular season, in addition to a pair of two-way contracts handed to power forward Isaiah Hicks and guard Allonzo Trier.

They would have to trade or waive a player before the first game of the season. Center Joakim Noah, who played just seven games last season (none after Jan. 23), is a possibility.

With the Knicks shorthanded up front, Vonleh gives them at least a little insurance. Kristaps Porzingis is still recovering from knee surgery, and coach David Fizdale reportedly is in Latvia checking on his franchise player?s progress. While the hope is Porzingis will return this season, his return date is uncertain.

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound Vonleh can vie for a rotation spot. When starting center Enes Kanter and backup Luke Kornet both sit, Vonleh, who shot 20-of-66 from 3-point range last season, could have a role in small-ball lineups with fellow newcomer Hezonja as a stretch four.

Vonleh averaged 3.6 points and four rebounds in 14.4 minutes over 33 games for Portland. After being traded to Chicago before the February deadline, he boosted his production to 6.9 points and 6.9 boards in 19 minutes over 21 appearances.

Knicks still in the same position of placing someone on the chopping block Maf. T-Roy could be on it now so really don't get why he was the first to go but I like the Vonleh pickup

If the Knicks opt to make a trade they could've clearly move 2 bodies for 1 too, so we'll see

One step closer to the Rockets for Melo who is now a Hawk. Still needs his buyout and to clear waivers before he's a Rocket.

T-Roy is a Pel now. They did a decent job revamping their team with the loss of Boogie and Rondo

Good for T-Roy he'll fit right in with that team

"It was an awesome gamble. They went all-in and went blackjack," George said after USA Basketball's minicamp practice Thursday.

So why didn't George give the Lakers a meeting in free agency?

"It was absolutely tempting," George said. "Honestly, I wanted to come back home. But again, I got traded to Oklahoma. Loved the situation. Loved where I was at. I decided to stick around a little longer. ...

"I just wanted my free agency to be over with. In my heart, I felt great about Oklahoma and I wasn't going to prolong it if I felt good about it already."

"I felt when it came down to it and all the factors that played into it, deep down there was a nasty taste where we finished," George said. "I just felt I had more to offer. I had more to give. I just felt about where we were as a whole.

"I honestly went through the process and doing pros and cons throughout the whole [season]. I wouldn't say the whole [season] was a recruiting process. I was just trying to find the highs and lows and the good and bad. Ultimately, I just felt this was the road for me to win."

Capela signs 90M/5yr deal with Rox. 10M of the deal is in the form of incentives, I'd like to see more deals with incentives by teams that doesn't count against space esp for the role player and vet min guys or for guys that have weaknesses in their games like FT shooting or rebounding.

Had a stint in China that doesn't show up on his players profile. He got a million dollar raise from what he was making with the Knicks, good for him. With him and Troy gone, CLEE, LT, Noah should be next if Perry can find a trade for them for an expiring. I think Perry is more inclined to stretch Noah based on his moves to clear the deck for the upcoming season. Crazy to think the Knicks will keep Noah around for a vet presence to school our rookie Robinson.
Looks like the Knicks will stretch Noah despite the coaching change per ESPN. Noah was arguably a worse bum than Eddie Curry who at least put together one good year for us.

The New York Knicks remain unlikely to reincorporate exiled center Joakim Noah into the team under new coach David Fizdale and still plan to part ways with the veteran big man before training camp, league sources told ESPN.
Unless general manager Scott Perry can find a trade that includes Noah, the Knicks will use the NBA's waive-and-stretch provision to release Noah sometime after Sept. 1, league sources said.

I don't understand the Perry/Mills decision making .. T-Roy was the teams best defensive-hustler at the SF position to workout with Knox throughout Knox rookie season.

I like the pickup of PF Noah Vonleh .. dont like the cut of SF Troy Williams .. having KP out for more than a half of season, and Noah being questionable by wanting out of our TANKING system .. you would think our MISS-management department of Mills/Perry would have added/signed the young 6.11 Jahlil Okafor at the beginning of August to be our starting PF alongside of starter center Enes Kanter for the up coming season. Okafor's young raw skills n talent should've been put at the stretch-4 position 2 seasons ago to become a 24 minute double-double NBA big-man.

The Knicks should have cleared roster space as early as June/July by trading a few worthless players like Joakim Noah/Tim Hardaway Jr/Courtney Lee/Lance Thomas/Ron Baker/and even the so-call future star Kristaps Porzingis. None of the 6 mention Knicks players showed a winning attitude or performance in any of the 82 games last season, all their performances warrant trade in the offseason, especially the "TIRED KP" in January.

Melo and Dantoni has no say so when it comes down to what Harden and CP3 want !!!
Melo wife looked good last night on the series POWER lol

FWIW, NBA did a poll of where free agents land next year... Knicks get both Kyrie and Butler...

Not interested in either FA .. to me Kyrie were a BUST first pick until Lebron put him on to a couple of moves ..
And Butler showed on the Bulls and Wolves he is not a captain nor leader, but a decent husling 3rd scoring option.
In better words none of the two (Kyrie/Butler) are worth Max paper $$$ !!!

It also look like the Knicks may make a run at the WEAK Kemba Walker in 2019 FA market too.
So far Mills/Perry two season of signing FA are only good at selecting n signing BUST FA .... THJ, Baker, Beasley, Sessions, Mario Hezonja, and Noah Vonleh !!!
