Game Thread: New York Knicks @ New Orleans Pelicans 8:00pm 3/28/2016

All you need to know about this game... T. Douglas has 10 points... He's the 4th guard for NOP.

Not 1 NYK guard has double digits... All out scored by TD. Down 5 with 90 seconds left, AA has ball stripped out of bounds... Rambis draws up a beautiful play... Jose missed a wide open 12 foot shot off the inbounds pass. Pathetic.

Melo went 3-4 from 3, then 1-7... I don't think he scored in the 4th... Knicks were 3-21 in the third quarter... Knicks actually scored 37 points in the second half. First win for NOP when scoring under 100... NOP without 4/5 starters.

Miserable effort, the story of the game was the FT differential. 27 pts at the charity stripe for the Pels and only 9 for the boys. Mafra can comment on whether that was officiating or not.

Couldn't beat a team with only one Pel starter in the lineup and a D-Leaguer playing on 10 days because they are so banged up. Anyone who thought they solved their problems after those 2 wins against the Bulls now knows better.

I didn't watch the game... Listened some and followed box score... So I can't address the FT disparity. Our guards stink tho...

Good news is Center Willy Hernangomez and combo guard Tony Wroten are coming next season!

Harlowe point blank asked AA if he was opting out and as you would expect he said it would be a decision he makes in the summer and he's focused on playing the rest of the season the right way. Didn't sound like he was wildly optimistic about staying though.

I know you would love to see AA gone.

I would prefer to have that money to try and lure somebody else. Not a bad contract and he is a professional... He's just not a starting SG. At best, he is your sixth man.

Just finished watching the Knicks-in-60 replay. Thanks for doing what was mainly a one-man show in this game thread Tiger. Miserable loss against a team with a worse record than us who is missing basically all their best players. That 3rd quarter was brutal.

Afflalo continues to make you hope he opts out. Porzingis with another good final stat line of 16 points, 10 boards, and 3 blocks, plus a few nice passes, but he hit his first 3 shots early in the game and then went 1 for 7 after that. Grant had a few nice plays in the first half, but overall played sloppy and out of control.

I still want to start next season fresh with a real head coach instead of Rambis. Nothing I have seen to close out this year warrants him keeping the job. We are worse under him than we were under Fisher.

A cool scene at end of game tho as a kid ran out on the floor to hug Melo (late fourth quarter).

Don't kno if it will make you guys feel better but the Bulls are in worse shape. We started them on a four game skid and looks like he Bullies won't be in the playoffs either. Pretty boy coach Fred Hoiberg lost a team that was talking Eastern Confernce finals. Um um um. KNIcKs are playing out the string at this point and will be fortunate to close the season with another win or two. Tonight's loss should hopefully put a nail in Rambis coffin.:(

Thanks htr10, still think you do the best job recapping the plays in the game thread and Mafra does a great job with his inside the game analysis. Mafra didn't even watch the game and he can still break down the game and tell you why the Knicks are winning or losing.

Alvin Gentry said he thought Luke Walton was going to be a fantastic head coach and while Phil might want him and offers him similar compensation that DFish got I don't know that he comes to NY. Bill his dad said he should stay in GS, looking long term the Knicks job while it's going to pay very well may be the kiss of death for a rookie head coach. I wonder if DFish ever gets another head coaching job in the NBA and if Walton takes the Knicks job it may be a disaster for his career if the Knicks have a losing record again next season.

I believe the Bulls still has their 2016 first round draft pick .. the Bulls season is not worse than ours, the rehiring of Thibs in offseason will put the Bulls back into a competitive postseason team.

Our Knicks organization upstairs office showed more incompetence than our two miserable head-coaches.
Our triangle offense had to much "ISOLATION" from Melo, Affallo n KP.
I still dont understand how our president could FIRE Fisher for a career losing head-coach Rambis SMFH
We were not suppose to give a young 20 yr old rookie Porzingis the GREEN-LIGHT to shoot whenever he touches the ball SMFH

Bunch of stories now quoting AA that Rambis didn't tell him about his move to the bench to be the Knicks 6th man. Rambis contradicts AA and says he did tell him, got to believe Rambis on this one. How do you change a guys role after 70 games and not tell him, at the very least AA had to ask him why am I coming off the bench and what are the chances of Rambis not answering Affalo's question.

AA. blows... u will never win with a guy like this...tooo streaky.. one nite he will shoot 9 for 10, the next nite 1/10... I doubt there is a multi-year out there for him this summer... I think its another 'great-signing' by phil... I wish phil would go home and snuggle up next to jeane...

and with every loss. the raptors smile gets bigger n bigger...

What a travesty to trade your first rounder for Andrea Bargiani. Is Bargs even still in the League??? Someone actually got paid a lot of $$$$ to make that trade. If the KNIcKs management had bothered to poll us here at KO.com we would have voted that trade down. SMH:(

The bulls own their own pick this year, and potentially the kings pick, they also have Jimmy Butler coming back with young talent like portis and McDermott... they will be fine, and giving them a lottery pick doesn't help the knicks one bit.

you beat me to it, but the bulls are fine, they have their own pick, plus the kings pick, potentially and they have jimmy Butler, who I would trade the entire knicks team for...

Why would I as a Knick fan look at another's team's trials and tribulations to find comfort in my own team's failures. Who does that? What kind of mentality is that? The only thing I'm comparing my team to if anything is GREATNESS...anything short of this is mental midget failure thinking.

Bulls have some issues which can be cleaned up quite easily if they commit to it. Hoiberg might be the actual problem this yr certainly. Longer term may need to rid themselves of Rose and Hoiberg but outside of this they can be very competitive by way of natural churning of roster.

Meanwhile we have nuclear/galactic type issues, no point guard, no 2 guard, no coach, SUS bigs, no picks, and an aging player with an ugly no trade clause contract.
