Game Thread: New York Knicks vs Cleveland Cavaliers 8:30 pm 2/4/2017 [Game#52]

Melo with the rip and stuff down by 5 until....ANOTHER set shot corner 3 for little Kevin...I mean he runs to that corner every time

Yep Kevin Love outplayed Melo on the big stage that trade is stone cold dead in the water; gotta be embarrassed if your Melo getting showed up by a white boy with the world watching... now mark Jackson has jokes...Melo must sleep on a mattress made of $$$ because his professional credibility is at an all-time low right now we are gonna be stuck with him he ain't worth **** after this game

Depends on how the optics play out but after tonight...

I know Ainge ain't trying to hear us and Doc may have gained more leverage
.

Know this we're going to continue being a very bad team for the rest of Melo's contract which he never should've received in the first place

The boys came back from 27 down to lose by 7 111-104. Might have even won it if they made their FTs. I don't think many gave the Knicks a chance to beat the champs so I for one am not disappointed.

I think when KP says he doesn't want to Melo to leave he's right, he's not ready to carry this team and its a little premature to say KP IS a sure thing to become anymore than a good player. The Knicks need a star to build around not a good player.

Just watched the first half.... 2-8 from downtown and 7-15 from the FT line.... Melo and KP must've combined for 10 points (I believe Love had more points in the 1st quarter than these 2 had all half). Kuz & Holiday missing wide open 3s.... BJ should've had about 7 unforced turnovers....

KP's 2nd and 3rd fouls were awful. He should be ashamed of himself that he's committing such meanginelss and senseless fouls. He basically had to sit the entire first half bc he's an idiot. He can't be doing this to the team. Enough already.

CLE shoots 10-21 from downtown. Score 30+ in first and 60+ At half.... it helps the refs blatantly ignore anything Lebron or Love do. Kevin looked like Swayze in the movie Roadhouse, he practically ripped off Kuz's throat pushing off.... James shoved Baker badly.... but, of course, it's only Melo who draws offensive fouls.

Hard to fathom how the Knicks aren't trailing by 40 with this offense. But CLE is simply toying with NY. It's basically a scrimmage for them.

On to the second half for me.... why? I don't know. But, like the other 2 CLE games, I expect I'll be fast forwarding to the end after about 5 minutes.

So the refs quickly call 3 fouls on Melo.... poor guy didn't do anything. 1st foul was a terrible call on a defensive rebound. Second foul Love holding him as Liggins drives down lane and rams into Melo. Third foul
love forearm shoves Melo, then hooks and grabs his arm....

I defy you to find another top 25 player to have 3 questionably borderline calls go against him in a 210 second span, during a nationally televised game on his home floor and his team down 14 points.

These refs have to sit around and devise intricate ways to mess with Melo's head. It makes you wonder what their problem is with him?

Well, this CLE-NYK game I made it to 4 left in the third before I had enough and turned it off.

There wasn't 1 bright spot from this game.... KP looked like he didn't belong on the floor; Melo's shoulder injury early led to a 6-20
night. Noah is an absolute waste; WHG showed some nice moves in the post. I guess there's that.

We can't trade these guys fast enough. Get BJ, Lee, and Rose outta here. I don't mind if we collect second rounders.

Huh? Did you miss Melo stuffing him and stealing the ball from him? Sure, Love plus refs combined got the better of Anthony on a few possessions....
But in case I missed something, Love was playing with The King tonight.... Who was Melo playing with.

I bet if CLE played tonight with Melo, and NYK had Love.... you think results would be different?

You really think Love is stripping Melo and taking it to the rack afterward for a slam to cut deficit to 5 late in the game? Melo also forced an 8 second violation on James with 1:30 left.
Love ain't doing that against Lebron.

I saw Love struggling to guard WHG. I saw Love commit about 12 fouls that weren't called.... but I do know this, the starting 5 for NYK this season was supposed to be Rose, Lee, KP, Noah and Melo.

Rose hasn't played in a while, Noah played 6 minutes, KP didn't show up until the 4th quarter, and Lee was remarkably just mediocre tonight.

Melo has his faults but come on.... he has no help. WHG is a solid interior offensive player. BJ was awful for 2 and a half quarters.... then he was hot for 4 minutes then did nothing the final 7 minutes (other than a dish here or there).

Oh, and Melo had LJ guarding him.

Give Love credit for fighting for a few
more rebounds than a Melo got and for knocking down wide open 3s, and for blowing bun WHG for a dunk.

But he karate chopped Kuz at end of first half that never should've counted as an offensive rebound putback bucket.

Last year Love averaged 8 ppg in the Finals. He was a liability on defense to the point he was benched. This K-Love hysteria is so amusing. It'll last until he does nothing in the Finals and CLE loses in 5.

I cannot wait for the playoffs to begin and for Love to show what he really is again.

I would scream if we dealt Melo for Love. That would be the worst deal in franchise history. Love does nothing for NYK. If it's part of a bigger deal and Love is sent elsewhere.... I applaud that move. But I do not ever want to see kevin love wearing a NYK uniform. We have that in KP. We don't need 2 of those perimeter PF/C types.

That "nail in coffin" 3 by Love.... Lebron set that up.... not a player within 12 feet....

And did you notice the good defense by Melo? Thompson set a moving screen.... you can bet your house if that situation were switched and Noah set that pick on james, freeing up Melo.... refs would have blown whistle. Foul. Moving screen.

We are witnessing exactly what it would look like in a playoff series against Cleveland should we by accident make the playoffs.

^^^^^^^

I'm not interested whatsoever watching such a massacre. It's obvious more than ever we need to trade Melo. I really can't wait until it happens, exciting times just thinking of this reality

It would be worst thing for NY to be the 8th seed. Ugly.

Yes. Melo, Rose, and probably KOQ, Lee, and BJ should all be dealt for assets. The rebuilding should begin, and trading everybody would ensure we don't crack the 30 win mark....
Meaning a better pick.

I just don't see how we get anything for Melo right now, Knowing we probably get twice as much if we wait until summer.

I can't wait tho for it to happen.... I cross my fingers good news comes by the 23rd.

If we don't get something, I hold on to him. Wait for summer. Still, don't give him away.

Anyway.... I think CLE would move Love in the offseason. Melo could be sent there, Love elsewhere and assets to NY. Then Paul joins his buddies in CLE.

I just checked the box score: Love had 23 points and 16 boards. Melo had 17 points and shot 7 for 20 from the field. That's not good enough for a "superstar" in a primetime game against the reigning NBA champs. Brandon Jennings of all people led the comeback with his long range shooting while Melo was on the bench. Yea Melo made a play or two down the stretch, but it was too little, too late. And Melo shot too many doorknobs for me 7-20 shooting that's 35% on mostly midrange jumpers. And his final rushed doorknob 3 iced the game for Cleveland. Yep the King was guarding his but so what??? I tell people Melo is an elite top 5 scorer in the league and they look at me crazy. I ain't saying that anymore because last night showed it ain't true. Little Kevin outplayed Melo last night in a primetime audition. I don't want Kevin love either, but this team is poorly constructed and needs to be blown up. I'm tired of DRose with his knappy hair on the bench, Noah had two tip ins and was done for the night, and KP was out of control and rode the pine all night for it. Phil is getting way too much credit for that pick. This team is stuck in basketball purgatory:(

nice fukin racist comment....
It is what it is...Melo grew up in the projects in Brooklyn right? What do you think his boys were saying after last night??? Willys face is still caved in last night from that facial little Kevin served him. Two superstars took that game seriously last night: LJ and little Kevin. You could tell little Kevin took that challenge, Melo just didn't. That was a CAvs team wasnt playing well minus Kyrie...should have done better there.

jim... u seem to be a lot like me.... u r an equal opportunity hater... I like that...
Yep if the shoe fits...you gotta remember I live in the CHI so we are used to DRose BS. My boy at work took it a step further and I quote:" a ***** with some $$$$ from the city aint gonna give a ****". I thought Rose would at least play for his next contract but I was wrong.

KP has been reading too many of his press clippings and listening too all those TV analysts that tell us he's the first 7'3" guy to do this or that.

We need the guy to put together a string of dominant games before even thinking the Knicks can rebuild around him. Towns is proving he can be a franchise player but lately KP hasn't proved anything other than he's a big guy that can give you 6 fouls.

That's like saying I dominated you and a pal in a fight (when, in fact, my partner was Bruce Lee or Mike Tyson).

First of all, Melo hurt himself early in the game. Second of all, Melo had no help last night other than WHG (who scored at will on love, despite allowing that dunk, and was closing in on a triple double), 4 minutes from BJ, and the 4th from KP.

Secondly, Melo had to work on defense, guarding the best player on this planet.... and that same player was guarding him. Love had 10 in the first and knocked down that final 3....
In between, he had that dunk and 8 other points.

Thirdly, WHG didn't guard him in that dunk, he fouled Kuz when he got that putback, and at least three 3s were uncontested.

And, again, Love was spotted 15 fouls by the refs....

I'm looking forward to the post Melo era myself, mainly bc I'm hoping to snag assets to help this rebuild.

But let's not bash Melo for everything. Nobody showed up, especially Noah, Rose, KP. And, If Love was a NYK last night and Melo walked into MSG with Lebron, Melo probably scores 40 and everybody is talking about what a great trade CLE made.

BTW, since we know Lebron was guarding Melo.... to be fair and impartial, who was guarding Love?

As for Melo, after getting benched last 4th Q and for most of last night's 4th..... after shooting poorly, and entering a game trailing by double digits.... did he pout? Dog it? Nope. He busted his butt and forced 2 turnovers from Lebron.
