Game Thread: New York Knicks vs Houston Rockets 7:30 10/09/2017 [Preseason Game #4]

lol well so much for that late game comeback!
anybody hear that hot mic criticism from hahn and wally about KP?

I posted something about it in yesterdays game thread. Hahn like me expected him to start faster after working so hard in the summer plus playing competitive Euro bball. Not even regular season yet so premature to judge him but I don't see any big changes in his game to lead me to believe this is going to be a breakout season for him. I hope I'm wrong just as I hope I'm wrong about the team, first 5 games are important for the team after a poor exhibition schedule. If we continue losing even with consistent rotations I'm not expecting much from this team.

I can't believe you guys are surprised this team looks awful. Name me a player outside of KP that would start on another NBA roster???? I keep telling y'all there are college teams that could beat the Knicks and you guys are laughing at me. Let's see who is laughing in February. I can't believe you guys are wasting time watching Knicks preseason games with the Yankees still alive. The Knicks are a d-league team without "hoodie-Melo." Enjoy what you wished for Knicks fans🀦*♂️

I'm not surprised they're bad, I'm surprised by how little effort we've seen on defense from a bunch of guys fighting for rotation spots. I'm also unhappy how little fragile Frank has played.

A lot of players are getting banged up right now and maybe they're extremely scared but they babied him in Summer League so not sure what to think. So far I've tried to lay off Knits for a sec, I've got the gas in the chamber waiting for him if needed...lol

You have a team that routinely gave up 30 points a quarter and you "add" two players(Kanter/Mcbuckets) that are literally ranked the worst at their respective positions defensively. Let me clue you in on something: "addition" by "subtraction" is just plain subtraction. Then you top it of with a "lottery" pick that was hurt before the draft. I'm out of market so I will watch very little Knicks "basketball" this year. You guys enjoy what you so wished for: The Hoodie-Melo-less Knicks.πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©πŸ’©

i don't think anyone is 'surprised' that the team looks pretty damn bad right now.
the fact of the matter is melo should have left the knicks a long time ago, for HIS OWN SAKE. i never really had much of a problem with him. i could never understand why he wanted to stay so bad when it was clear that this organization is so whack and destined for clown show status failure for the foreseeable future.

Being bad is a good thing. Top 3 pick best way to turn this around quickly.

As long as KP, WHG, Ntikilina show growth and don't pick up bad habits.... only can help adding a top pick to this group.

Good nickname for the kid, Fragile Frank. Meanwhile DSJ has played every pre-season game for the Mavs averaging about 20mpg and looks set to be the starting PG for the Mavs day 1. I would thing with all the time the kid has missed there is no way he starts and maybe he'll be 3rd man off the bench in the beginning of the season.

I saw the Sac/Por game yesterday and Fox was out with a bad back but a guy we both liked pre-draft Frank Mason filled in pretty well with 13 pts. on 4-7 shooting. Too many guys ahead of him in that SAC rotation though, he would be a better fit with the Knicks. Kuzma is another guy we liked in Summer League and he's been the goods for the Lakers. Any comments about the other guys?

Having a bum coaching-staff, and a clueless head coach Hornacek calling the shots, plus the majority of Knick fans expectation has been mention several times before n after the Melo trade "we hope the Knicks could win more than 31 games this season.".

The Knicks has several experience players that would be starters on several NBA teams .. C/PF-Noah .. C/PF-Quinn .. C-Kanter .. SG-Lee .. and a healthy PG Sessions/Jack.

The Knicks became a D.League team the year the $124M Melo-Knicks had a 17 win season!
I doubt if any of us are missing the Yankees vs Cleveland Indians in the postseason.

The Knick team u are talking about that gave up 30 pts a game had a NO-Defense ISO-Melo receive above 35 minute of playing time, a NO-Defense KP receive 33 minute of playing time, and a NO-Defense/no dimes Derick Rose receive 30 minute of playing time .. the trio performance equal TANKING!
Do u recall the Knicks record of wins in the past 3 season having captain Melo lead the team?
31 -32 -17 .. the only thing these numbers win is Power Ball Lottery!

I watched OKC preseason games .. the OKC team really miss Kanter's 15 pts, 7 rbds on 50% FG shooting plus Kanters big-body in the paint for 20 minute per game.

During the month of June Frank Nitty were in the French playoff .. I did not expect Frank to play in the summer league games for any team that select Frank in the top 10 draft picks.
Truth b said, after participating in an uncreative coach Hornacek training-camp, Im surprise all the guaranteed contracts on the Knicks roster are not complaining bout being injured.

Lol at "Fragile Frank." Poor Kid ain't played 1 regular season game yet. You guys are some equal opportunity haters I will give you thatπŸ™„

James Harden really hate the Knicks .. Harden scored on all our guards with ease last night playing like he was possessed to get a triple-double in the preseason games.
Poor Baker n Jack look like s.... going up against Harden .. we should be happy CP3 did not play last night.
The tandem of Harden n CP3 are going to eat up a lot of weak guard teams this season, same as what Curry n Klay did to weak guard teams the past 3 season. I will feel sorry for all the rookie guards that will be put in the starter lineup and forced to go against teams like GSW, Rocks, OKC, Wizards, and Raptors.

Just read that Philly is giving Embiid 5 years and 148 million. Dude has only been healthy for 31 games in 2 years. I wonder if he will even play 200 games over those 5 years.
Sixers were not completely insane giving that extension to Embiid. They have some safeguards written into his contract.

Here's how a perfect storm of calamity would have to unfold for Embiid to earn any less than this full $146.5 million:

 • Across each of the final four seasons of the extension, ending with the 2022-23 season, the 76ers could waive Embiid for a financial benefit if he's lost because of a contractually agreed upon injury that causes him to miss 25 or more regular-season games and if he plays less than 1,650 minutes, league sources said.

 • Specific injuries are laid out in the contract and only include past problem areas with Embiid's feet and back, sources said. Embiid has to miss 25 or more regular-season games because of injuries in those areas, and play less than 1,650 minutes, for Philadelphia to have the option of releasing him for cost savings.

 • If Embiid hypothetically suffered a serious knee or wrist injury -- something outside the contractual language surrounding the feet and back -- the 76ers have no avenue to waive Embiid to reclaim any portion of his salary. And given Embiid's rare talent, there's a belief that he'd have to suffer a career-ending injury to inspire the 76ers to release him.

 • If Embiid meets that narrow criteria and the Sixers decided to waive him after the 2018-19 season, he would receive $84.2 million of his full contract; $98.2 million after the 2019-20 season; $113.3 million after the 2020-21 season and $129.4 million after the 2021-22 season.

 • If Embiid plays a minimum of 1,650 regular-season minutes in three consecutive years during the extension, or three out of four including the 2017-18 season, those benchmarks would eliminate the possibility of a reduction in the contract, league sources said.

 • The first full season of Embiid's contract extension starts with the 2018-19 season and pays him $25.3 million, a salary that escalates a standard 8 percent a year until the 2022-23 season.

 • For Embiid to reach the threshold of the super maximum contract criteria - which would pay him 30 percent of the salary cap and ultimately as much as $176 million -- Embiid must earn first-team All-NBA honors or be voted the NBA's Most Valuable Player in the 2017-18 season.

 • Embiid is expected to be ready to play for the Sixers on opening night on Oct. 18 against Washington, but could initially face minute restrictions as part of the rehab process on his knee.

I figured I was being a little generous when I said #kporzee would come at a hefty cost(hitting those criteria), but I think the base was in the ball park

If we get 2 more seasons of being a 50 loss team? Let him walk.

Wow! now that u mention it we did have 2 season of 50 losses having KP in the starter lineup!
Another 2 season of 50 losses .. KP will be worth a late 2nd round pick.

Embiid has been the only player that performance reminds me of Olajuwon or Kareem Jabbar ..
Philly did the right thing giving Embiid the extension having Ben Simmons next, then Fultz
