Game thread: New York Knicks vs Toronto Raptors 11/1/2021 7:30pm [Game #7]

Raps with active hands playing better D than the Knicks and hot shooting gives them the biggest lead of the game 85-74.
 
I was asked to predict the Knicks wins for the season. My respond was that you don't know how much better the other teams in the east have gotten.

Tonight is a indicator of what I mean. Raptors look very good with their two best players.

Knicks coach Thibs substitution loss another game in MSG!
Favoring Randle n starters over a hot Obi Toppin n 2nd unit lineup that kept a double-digit lead in the 2nd qtr.. By putting all the starters back in the game after 5 min of the 2nd qtr.
Plus Thibs not having a plan A, or plan B for the 2nd half, after the Raptors went on a 18-7 run on our starters to end the 2nd qtr..
Thibs and the starters collapse at the beginning of the 2nd half .. The Raptors out scored the Knicks 38-22 3rd qtr.
The 4th qrt. Thibs showed ...............

RJ said the reason they lost was the Raps just played harder and I agree, Knicks had 20 TOs and most of those TOs was because of that Raptors ball pressure. Knicks couldn?t get offensive rebounds either and should have played swarming D like they?ve played in other games, can?t win them all but they need to play harder.

Thought it was going to be an easy win with Siakim and Barnes out. Classic trap game tonight, Knicks thought they could beat them playing on cruise control with those guys out.

Nurse doesn?t even have Dragic in the lineup, that?s a pretty deep lineup when you don?t play a proven vet like him.

After seeing VanVleet's performance in the 2019 Finals, I wouldn't count the Raptors out with him on the floor in any give game.

You correct on all comments. The last time I have seen some real coaching is Miller a couple years ago. He bench the whole starting 5 and put in Frank and co. after about 5 minutes in the 1st quarter. THAT COACHING!! You want see that from Thib's.

Several things Kiya. The last 3 games have should have raise a number of red flags. The Bulls game the player that let the game... Was it Greene not sure. The 'D' he was putting on Randle was very good. He was single covering Randle by himself. After he went out the Bulls starting using the Hawks defense.
The N.O. games and you get out rebound and only win by 7 point with Zion and Ingram out. That not a good sign.
Now the last night Raptors game. Its been a long time since I have seen team defense like what they did last night. Also the individual defense of all of Raptors players was good. I can see it becoming EXCELLENT!! There were only two things that I feel they did do well and that was 'How they started the game' and 'Too many 3's'. Of course you can say they were hot with 3's but I can see some nights when they aren't falling. But then Nurse seen to be very good at managing the team flow. Also OG defense on Randle was very, very good. Randle tried to bully him but he was not having any of that.

Knicks should be very certain that Thib's have not idea out how the readjust the offensive or defense during the game or the half. Thib's is in 'Playoff Mode' and he knows nothing else.

Hey Kiya, got a question for you. I have notice that Randle looks tired!! Just his motions... is the near 40 minutes a game wearing on him. It could be just me and I have been wrong before. It looks like something is wrong.

This is a Raptors team that didn't make the playoff last year. WHY?? But the Knicks did!! That is what I been saying to you about last year and what it truly means. Last year draft change the thinking of a lot of prior playoff teams. First good draft in years and most took advantage of it. That open the door for the Knicks.
Look at this Frankstein team and honestly evaluate it. What do you honestly see? Take off the rose color glasses. The last 3 games have signs in them for those who know the game.

Question: After last nigh game. Who on the Knicks can bring the 'JUICE'?? Who can 'JUICE' the crowd?? Who does the crowd get 'JUICE' about??

WOW! Did we get rocked yesterday by coach Nurse Raptors!
They spanked us real good in the 2nd half .. Knicks 47 - Raptors 60
Thibs didn't have a clue in the 2nd half, and Randle's weak defense on OA let him score 36 pts. Plus play-maker VanVleet took control of the game to master-mind a dynamic come from behind performance to take a double-digit lead in the 2nd half of the game for the Raptors.
In the last 5 Knicks game it look like Randle did not report to training-camp energize like last season. Randle has looked tired the closing minute of the last 5 games, missing both Free-throws, and the weak defense, and turn-overs like his first season as a Knicks.
Last night the Raptors team committed 8 turnovers, but the Knicks Randle & Barrett combine for 7 turnovers .. Not Good !!!
 
Through 7 games the Knicks are dead last in points allowed in transition at 123.8 ppg. Trouble defending in the open floor has them 20th in ppg allowed as opposed to last seasons 4th place ranking. That?s the value of analytics, identifying the problems so you can fix it, we knew that Walker and Fournier would probably be worse than Payton and Bull defensively but last is not acceptable.
 
TOR has been playing well this season, if you?ve been following them. OU has been on a roll.

I think NYK got up early and they let up?. ToR took advantage late second and third and held on.

Let?s hope we rebound like we did after the ORL loss

Lakers almost lost to HOU last night?.

Stuff happens.

Identify the issue and fix it.

Still, unless MItch and RJ take a huge leap? this team isn?t going further beyond the first round. Randle isn?t a 1 option?.
 
How do you fix Walkers and Evan?? Analytics is good but you already knew this before signing both. So both are not a surprise. The two are just part of a big problem. The offensive is center around Randle and Randle looks tired. Analytics can not tell that or see that... it takes the eyes. Now I could be wrong but his body language in some ways say's so. Is this a result of too many minutes played last year?
