I read something about Erik Dampier today...

So I was reading an article which said Dampier's contract in 2010 is "non-guaranteed" for 13 million. From what I could understand in the article this means the contract can be terminated at any time and would instantly release 13 million worth of cap space.

This means we could trade Curry + some talent for Dampier, waive him, and instantly recieve 13 million extra cap to spend in 2010?

I have no idea if this is true but this is what I read, so if one of the resident cap specialists can confirm/deny it would be useful.

Good idea, but Dallas is a team that could actually be describes as "too deep" we don't have anything they would want, I guess they could use D. Lee, but they could just waive Dampier and give David 11 million and save 2 million in cap

Maybe a 3 team trade that got them a player like Tyson Chandler or Emeka Okafor to legitimize their frontcourt and we sent out Wilson,TD and Curry in theory could work. But even that is unlikely

Why would Mark Cuban do that?

But don't think for a moment he does not understand the value of Dampier's non-guaranteed contract.

It's called the "dust" chip, and it you will hear about it this summer.
