Knicks owner James Dolan yelled and cursed at a season ticket holder Tuesday night outside Madison Square Garden, Dolan confirmed to Deadspin.

Thirty-five-year-old lawyer Mike Hamersky saw Dolan near the arena before the Knicks-Bulls game and told Dolan he should sell the franchise.

"What if I showed up at your office and called you an [obscenity]"? Dolan said, according to Hamersky. "Because you are an [obscenity]!"

Dolan allegedly claimed Hamersky was intoxicated and had a security guard follow the lawyer around the area for a few blocks. Hamersky did not have any issues getting into the game, however.

The Knicks owner said he understands some of the criticism he faces, but did not want someone coming up to him while he was at the Garden.

"I get it. They call me names every day in the paper. Fine. I get it," Dolan said to Deadspin. "But you're walking up to the place where I work? It's like they're laying in wait for you. It's like stalking me outside my home. Some people tend to think of team owners like politicians. But we're not! I didn't run for any office. These people who yell at you act surprised when you yell back. It's like when I got that incredibly derogatory email, and so I wrote back an incredibly derogatory email, and these people are surprised?"

Silver needs to fine or reprimand the jerk. All the guy said to Dolan was he should sell the team and he gets called something semi abusive. The guy is petty and thin skinned just like another famous billionaire New Yorker that happens to be running our country. Two disgraces if you ask me.

doesn't surprise me one bit. this is what i'm talking about. i'm willing to bet that a lot of the other folks running this organization under him aren't too different. this is just another indication of the kind of suspect culture around this team.
it's been over a decade since i've consumed a drop of alcohol, but i'll bet if dolan read this he'd swear i was drunk. anybody who doesn't like dolan obviously is drunk. i'll be switching to another cable provider as soon as the season ends and i will not be looking back. i'll just listen to the games on the radio from now on. i'll miss clyde, but i kind of like brown and crispino anyway.

thin-skinned... after hearing fans scream he's toooo involved, he goes out n hires phil... and the results are no better... maybe frustrated would be a better word...

Dolan is an idiot, but so is this dude who was drunk yelling at him and has made sure everyone knows he is a lawyer as he immediately went running to Deadspin to tell his 'heroic' tale. Trying a little hard for your 15 minutes, buddy?

hey, anything that can help put any kind of pressure on dolan to sell the team, i'm all for it. i'm still waiting for a TMZ video to come out, something so nasty that the NBA execs would have to get involved.
TMZ where the hell are you when we really need you?

Kind of agree and siding with Dolan principally speaking but he always needs to remind himself he's an NBA owner and a professional of sorts, thus rise above the ignorance.

The guy was only saying what everyone been saying, thinking, and petition before Dolan hired Phil Jackson "Dolan need to sell the Knicks Franchise".
When coach JVG quit 16 seasons ago .. the Knicks has been performing as if Dolan pays them to LOSE games!
From 2003 to 2008 the Knicks had a $100M salary cap that average a 23 win season in 5 years ...A long time Knick fan getting the opportunity to speak to owner Dolan what do u expect for the Knick fan to say ????

I guess its how he expresses himself... if he is being a 'dick'... he's getting what he deserves... ceo of the knicks or a street sweeper... no one should be abused
