He gets the blame for that period, but at least it wasn't an Amar'e situation in which even Phoenix, who's known for having a tremendous medical staff, suggested not to sign him for a huge contract. Then again, did Phil Jackson want to overhaul the whole medical staff?Phil made zero mistake with Shump/Smith.....was the only way to get rid of Smith for next year.
Phil gambled that Calderon would be one of the pieces this season and with Bargani and Melo thought the triangle would work.....If he can not get rid of calderon then gamble really fails if he gets rid of him then no loss and he took a chance no big deal....
Will be interesting if Philly wins the #1 pick and we are #2 ....will they take Hardaway and trade picks with us...
The ONLY way to judge Phil is to see what team the Knicks put on the court next season.....and if MELO is hurt then Phil gets the blame for that as he signed a star to 5 years late in his career.....
If we get good/great players in free agency and a great pick, and still have Calderon, is that bad? Calderon is a good PG, he may not be a good passer and efficient three point shooter like Felton, but he's not terrible.
