Knicks lose starting center for rest of 2023-24 season
The Knicks really have suffered a devastating blow, as starting center Mitchell Robinson has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury.The Knicks never disclosed Robinson’s injury but I’ve heard it was a fracture and required insertion of screws.
Mitch Robinson was leading the league with 5.5 offensive rebounds per game.
The Knicks started the 2023-24 season having the same starter lineup players as last season.
It was that time of the season (15th to 20th game) when coach Tom Thibs make changes in the team starter lineup (not happy having a 12-8 record). The coached changed the starter lineup on the 21st game on Dec. 8th at Boston taking Grimes out the starter lineup for Donte.
And Mitch Robinson catches a season injury against the Boston Celtricks that nite.
MitchRob performed in only 21 games in a 8 or 9 man rotation that only have 3 big-men (Mitch/Randle/Hartenstein).
The New York Knicks have applied to the NBA for a Disabled Player Exception worth $7.8 million as the franchise projects center Mitchell Robinson will miss the rest of the season, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Major development as Robinson had ankle surgery last week.
Jericho Sims is expected to miss 1-to-2 weeks (2nd week of Jan.) due to the right ankle sprain he suffered in Monday's 114-109 win over the Lakers.
And Hartenstein winning chemistry with the bench-players are gonna be missed being put in the Slow 35 minute starter lineup.
