An Assassin's Resum?
No other NBA star, in my experience as a fan, has solidified their emergence to stardom in similar fashion to Chauncey Billups.
From a non-well known starter to Finals MVP, Billups showed his mettle under duress in being the pivotal player on Detroit's championship team in 2004, in a 4 games to 1 ?ber upset against the dynasty Laker team that boasted a line up inclusive of Gary Payton, Karl Malone, SHAQ and The Black Mamba.
And to culminate his ascension, Billups stunned the basketball world by becoming finals MVP in a non All Star appearance season.
An amazing testament to the fortitude of Billups as an individual and a team player, when faced with the daunting task of winning as the underdog.
Now, 7 years on, he waves our banner as the pressure mounts.
Unquestionably, he is the pivotal factor in achieving, yet again, an upset that would, yet again, stun the basketball world.

This could well be a PG showdown that Rondo wasn't ready for. It could, just as easily or likely, not be. It's a bit baffling to me because their games are so incredibly different.
Chauncey has the clear size, weight and strength advantage. Rondo the speed and athleticism. What distracts from Rondo's youth V age factor is that he is still playing with niggling injuries.
So what do we make of it?
Chauncey has declined in some ways - Rondo has failed to improve in others: shooting in all facets. Both play excellent team defence - Rondo the better one on one.
In order for Chauncey's offence to be implicated, we'll have to slow down and give him more of an opportunity to overpower Rondo. We can't afford to be stagnant against Boston, because if we play their game, we lose. That has often and ever been the case with them. We surpass them in athleticism courtesy of a younger squad, but not at the 1.
We must be physical with Rondo.

#23 - Toney Douglas

He's been praised and battered all year for his imbalanced consistency. A defensive leaning post for NY in the back court, Toney Douglas' wont for shutting down his counterpart has come under the microscope, as he takes on the underdog role individually by being delegated the task of stopping Rondo and Allen.
No one has made more 3s than Toney Douglas since the All Star Game. Seeing that we live and die by the 3, we'll need his cross hairs clean. He is an imperative part of our success. His intangibles, range and gritty defence all huge factors in achieving victory.
He is confident and determined, focused and fearless. He has at times been unconscious from deep, but he has also been stone cold.
How will #23 fare in his first playoff series? However so, we need his best, as both he and Shawne Williams become our most pivotal role players and X Factors.
Though he'll rarely be facing Celtic flop, Carlos Arroyo, Douglas will veritably pick him apart. He'll be more likely to face Ray Allen on defence, as D'Antoni prefers to play him alongside either Billups or Carter in a small back court.
Ray Allen has been taken out of games by the Bulls and Heat in the last month. In both outings, Boston have fallen apart offensively as Allen's range became a non factor on the scoreboard and in providing spacing offensively. Toney can not afford to go under screens as he often does against Ray Allen. His release is quick and high and will be difficult for Douglas to contest in a height disadvantage.
Ashy Larry
After this unforgettable moment, Knick fans around the world raised a collective eyebrow.
Undeniably, Anthony Carter's mental grit and self belief are forged by a life of less. I, for one, am enthralled by the idea of him bringing his life lessons to the court.
AC can create some problems for Rondo. His hounding defence and undeniable grit & determination can help wear Rondo down. The combination of Billups size and strength advantage and AC's terrier like D will be a real detractor for Rondo.
