With the tentative deal the Nuggs and Nets have, I can't see why Melo would want to go there.
They are going to give up their potential all-star rookie, their once all-star point guard, all of their power forwards, and four draft picks (essentially sacrificing their future), for one player.
ALL OF THIS, with the uncertainty of what the CBA is going to do the cap. They will max out their payroll between resigning Lopez and Melo and have no signficant pieces around them. If the CBA goes hard cap (which i can't see happening; but, it is a possiblity) they may not be able to put any players around him. And no offense, if I'm an elite player, I'm not going to take less money and head NJ to play with Lopez and Melo.
It's just stupid for Melo to go to NJ.
Melo is what -- 28/29 years old? It will take the Nets at least a couple years to build up some pieces around him, and he starting to head out of his prime.
If I were Melo, I would rather resign with Denver than go to the Nets. Right now, the Knicks are still his best option.
