Phil Jackson's Job May Be In Jeopardy!!!

If Dolan feared the riots and made a hire because of it, I doubt, but wouldn't put it pass him, he'd hire Isiah Thomas back.

Mills is a pretty well respected guy from what I've read, but NY will need to fill this slot with a supreme architect that has a track record of rebuilding rosters. Let Hornacek run is own offense. Masai Ujiri is a good option, but there are other options available at a lower price. Joe Dumars is also a good option. David Griffen is also available.

That's good to hear, it'll be interesting to see which players fit what Hornacek wants to accomplish

Horn is going to go with the trend, pace and space now that PJ is gone. I'd say KP takes more 3 pt shots not fewer this season. Toss him becoming a post player under Horn this year. He seems to be doing a good job bulking up, so he's not slacking in Latvia. Even though he won't be a classic post player, he can use the added strength down low for those short jumpers and floaters, he had a terrible pct for 6-12 ft shots close to the basket, like 38% I believe. Guys could bully him last year, hopefully with the added strength they won't this season.

I also wonder if he can start the fast break off a rebound like Dray can, he's shown he's got a good handle and I've seen him come flying down the court w/o the ball, wonder if he can put the 2 together and ignite the offense.

Even Zeke knows better...

I heard Presti's names is being discussed, we may have to think outside the box on this one. Not a coveted position by any stretch of the imagination

One guy that you mentioned Hinkie has not even been in the discussion so far. What happened to him, seems to have fallen off a cliff like Blatt.

Not sure but I sure wish we'd give him a chance, we need someone who is going to accumulate assets for the next 2-3yrs

Isola was talking about this yesterday, and how attractive the gig is:

You're gonna get paid bc Dolan freely hands out cash....

In the "big" market....

And for guys with the ego or itch.... they know if they are the guy to turn this disaster around.... they'll be hailed as heros.... and guys with egos believe they can do it.

Dolan might be a spoiled brat but he gives team anything it needs (other than media freedom... I would add). Look at Rangers...

NY one of top rated teams in NBA (by Forbes).... value wise.

There will be a few too intimidated to untie this Gordian knot of scandal....

Anyway.... we shall see.

I do agree that it's time to think outside box.... don't regurgitate.... bring in a fresh mind.... a grinder.... with big ideas.

Kentucky head coach John Calipari reached out to the Knicks through intermediaries to express interest in the Knicks presidency, according to Ian Begley of ESPN.com.
The report adds the Knicks are not interested in Calipari at the moment. The Knicks are currently without a president of basketball operations following the parting of ways with the team and Phil Jackson. It'll be general manager Steve Mills running the show as the team gets ready for free agency this weekend.

Former Cavs general manager David Griffin has been in touch with the Knicks and is expected to be among the initial interviews.
Cavs owner Dan Gilbert may have put Griffin at a disadvantage for a new job because he let him go after teams like the Magic and Bucks had job openings, but now Griffin has a chance to land in the Big Apple. The Knicks are still coming up with a list of candidates and they'll almost certainly not have a new front office guy for the start of free agency this weekend.

For an organization that never accomplishes anything of note on the court.... in the tabloid metropolis that feeds on everything seditious and salaciius.... it never ceases to amaze me how this frachsie gravitates with ever-enduring persistency all this soap opera esque drama sh_2:

A Knicks player who is being sued for choking a woman outside a downtown Manhattan bar says that he?s the real victim ? and that the woman launched an attack on his ?private parts.?

In a new court filing released Thursday, Knicks forward Kyle O?Quinn told a very different story from his accuser, Brooklyn resident Shakaira Elaine Elie, with whom he got into an altercation in May 2016 at the Trinity Place Bar & Restaurant in the Financial District.

O?Quinn says he was with a circle of friends and girlfriend Desma Walker when Elie approached the group and ?grabbed his private parts,? according to his countersuit.

?Simultaneously [Elie] asked a female friend of O?Quinn?s, who was in close proximity, whether she was his girlfriend,? the NBA player says in court papers.

Updating a previous item, Kentucky coach John Calipari denied his interest in the Knicks president position.
Calipari is in Egypt and he hopped on Twitter to shoot down the report. "NO ONE has contacted the Knicks on my behalf. I am the coach at Kentucky and will be for a long time! Even in Egypt I can?t escape the rumors," Calipari tweeted. "Are you kidding me?! It?s 5 in the morning here and this is what I wake up to?"

Looks like Ujiri is out with the Knicks reported not to ask the Raps for permission to talk to him. Presti is probably out of reach to if we have to give up a pick. Maybe Dolan should lower his sights and look at up and coming asst GMs or sports agents for a GM spot instead of hiring a President.

Tim Leiweke, the former Staples Center executive who is heading the Knicks? presidential search, apparently listens to Jerry West.

After West contacted Leiweke to endorse David Griffin, the former Cavaliers general manager contacted the Knicks and will be among the initial interviews, according to an ESPN report. West, a Clippers adviser, had a poor relationship with deposed Knicks president Phil Jackson during their time together with the Lakers.

Griffin could turn into a serious candidate because he requires no compensation, unlike the Raptors? Masai Ujiri.

With Jackson gone and Griffin in, perhaps LeBron James, who warred with Jackson over his ?posse?? remark, would consider the Knicks again ? as he did in 2010 ? when he becomes a 2018 free agent. James has spoken highly of Griffin?s work in building a team that went to three straight NBA Finals before owner Dan Gilbert let him go this month.

Knicks GM and acting president Steve Mills also will be considered for the permanent position in what is expected to be an long process, according to an NBA source.

The Knicks figure Mills will lead the Knicks across free agency starting Saturday at 12:01 a.m. and essentially build the 2017-18 club. Therefore, there is no great urgency to fill the position.

Kentucky coach John Calipari denied a report his intermediaries contacted the Knicks to express his interest. He has been interested in a high-profile NBA gig for years and always has the Knicks on his radar.

?NO ONE has contacted the Knicks on my behalf,? Calipari wrote on Twitter. ?I am the coach at Kentucky and will be for a long time!?

Calipari, who chided the Knicks for not drafting Kentucky shooting guard Malik Monk last week, worked the dual role with the Nets from 1996-1999 and has long wanted to redeem himself.

Mills was Knicks president for the 2013-14 season before owner James Dolan pulled the rug out from under him to hire Jackson ? arguably the worst waste of $60 million in NBA history.

Leiweke already has hired Ujiri once before ? stealing him from Denver when he worked for the Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Ujiri has five years left on his pact with the Raptors and could require a first-round pick as compensation.

Memphis executive Ed Stefanski recently signed an extension, but he is respected around the NBA and helped Rod Thorn build the Nets into a powerhouse in the early 2000s. The Wharton grad is highly regarded as both a strong numbers guy and talent evaluator. The Knicks also reportedly have had internal discussions about esteemed Thunder GM Sam Presti, but he?s a legend in Oklahoma City and would require compensation.

Liberty president Isiah Thomas confirmed Thursday a Post report he won?t be a candidate.

Marc Berman

I think I first suggested Griffin when PJ got canned. He's available, no compensation required and he got to 3 finals. I'd offer him the GM job and not the combined responsibility of President/GM. Give him the
title of VP bball ops if he's looking for a title. Dolan can keep Mills around as Pres if he wants.
